gaming Underrated consoles.

What were some consoles that were great, but didn't get the recognition they deserved? I say the Gamecube, the Dreamcast, and the TurboGFX.

I was about to say, the Sega Dreamcast was way under appreciated. Heck, I grew up on that thing and it had 10 times better graphics and such than any other system in it's time.

Definitely the Dreamcast, Sega made a lot of stupid mistakes and those mistake I think played a significant role in why this console is as underrated as it is. The Gamecube is also quite good it didn't have as much 3rd party support as the Playstation 2 (though it does beat the Wii in that big time) but had some fairly decent first party games.

Although I see a lot of love for the Gamecube nowadays, I'd still say it was fairly underrated. Aside from the late N64 days, I feel like the GCN was really where Nintendo was at their best. Practically every sequel they made to previous titles was very solid, if not amazing.

 

The Wii could not even begin to follow up to the great library of the GCN, yet it gets all of the credit, which bothers me. I can not think of a single sequel I played on the Wii which I felt was better than its GCN predecessor, except for maybe Mario Kart Wii.

I've been seeing the Dreamcast up here alot. And, I agree. The console had some pretty good titles on it. In fact, the first time I played the Sonic Adventure games was ON the Dreamcast. They also didn't use DVD ROM anymore like Sony was using. They were using a completely different kind of CD. This made it EXTREMELY easy to pirate games on it. Maybe that's a reason why it went under, because we could just pirate instead of buy.

Wii may have been underrated but have you seen the lifetime sales of that thing?!?! They're almost unbelievable and seem to suggest that it got all the attention it needed. I for one think that the Wii U's current situation is the most deserving of our sympathy given that after having been out for a full year and slowly improving it's library it is still getting hammered for looking last gen.

GameCube and the wiiU, sadly both were overlooked due to some pretty bad marketing methods such as a unappealing base model a bit like the gamecube who advertisements not getting the full picture just like how the WiiU has been doing, everyone I know outside of the gaming community just think its a Wii add-on D:

I would say the Dreamcast, if the controller wasn't so god damn terrible, and god forbid those VMUs that suck those expensive coin batteries dry in like a week, the unbearable squealing sound they made when you turned the system on, the awkward feel of holding it, and strained your hands playing it for more than an hour, and that retarded way the cord comes out of the bottom of the controller and has to be clipped into the little groove behind the slots but still would fall out all the time.

 

Oh and that disc drive made a terrible racket. Annoying ass plastic gear sounds grinding every time the laser moved.

 

I will say one thing, I never have to buy games for it. lol Yay for easy piracy! I think the only ones you can't pirate games as easily on is the very very late model ones made just before it went bust.

 

 

But consoles I believe that were underrated.

 

N64 and Gamecube

 

Consoles that were waaaaaay overrated, PS1, and PS2. Both those consoles had so many shitty 3rd party games to sift through before you can find any decent ones. Also PS2 games looked like ass graphically compared to the gamecube, and same for PS1 compared to the N64, PS1 games had some ugly textures and deformed give a weird wavy look to em, most PS1 games looked like 3D barf.
