The one thing he values above all else was blatantly disregarded and trodden over. You want the Egotist to kick some flank? Insult his pride, he hates that.

Keep in mind, while in this "Uber" mode, his judgement is impaired even if his physical powers are greatly increased. Even just slightly impaired judgement can be a huge weakness to someone whose main strength is their intellegence and cunning.
