gaming Alien: Isolation

OMG. So first off, my fandom base revolves around two franchises. First...well here I am on a MLP forum so that is self explanitory...the second...the Alien movies, all of them. Ridley Scott, James Cameron, David Fynch's third (WATCH THE STUDIO UNCUT VERSION BEFORE JUDGING, WAAAAAY BETTER), and even reserection.

So I was SOOOO let down by Colonial Marines, they had a gem and ruined it. But now?

Omg, I'm excited for Titanfall, destiny, Thief...but this? I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE EXCITED ABOUT A GAME EVER! An actual Alien game based not off of James Camerons Aliens, but the Original and RIdley Scotts vision!!!

This looks amazing, fits in the story arc with ZERO ret-con. 1970's sci-fi material, no LCD computer screens in game, all CRT DOS/Linux base just like MUTHER was. Big Nostromo feel.

By the Mane of Celestia I hope this pans out well!!!

I enjoyed Colonial Marines, it lacked alot and could have been so much better but it had it's moments. But I'm giving the benefit of the doubt for Alien Isolation, it looks like Slender in space, with Aliens.

Here's to that this game isn't screwed up.

You know. Creative Assembly has crafted award winning game after award winning game with the total war series. They have done well. They are using for the Alien Universe, untapped materials...no marines, no LV-426 (that we know of), no queen, and only ONE alien...it reminds me of Amnesia more then slender, but what matters is that it truly looks scary and not just jump scares either.

The developers are stating there are very few scripted Alien scenes and that the beast is hunting you. So be ready to be on edge ALL the time.

I did buy Alien Colonial Marines, and the Coop DLC that added the horde mode was amazing, but it still lacked any terror. I think with Isolation that is about to change. Huzzah!

made by the same people who's recent title was Total War: Rome 2

I haven't played it, I hear it didn't do well. But I have played ALL the other and they were always good.

That being said, there are issues. This is the first time they have tried a title like this (first person), but they do have several Crytek members on board the project so that may help. I am choosing to be optimistic here and say hey!!!! They are not going for an Aliens: Colonial Marines again.

This is new yet retro with BIG nods to Ridley Scott and the Nostromo. Early Weyland Yutani pre Marines, lots of mystery, and players thus far have said it feels like there will be a crafting system despite no weapons, which means maybe traps or tech upgrades on motion tracker, welders, etc.

Maybe I have stars in my eyes too.

This actually gives me a lot of hope that it'll be better than Colonial Marines, that game was just okay, at best.

Anyways, this game looks pretty cool actually. I was really excited for Colonial Marines, but I rented it and was disappointed. I'm hoping this Aliens game is better.

Keep in mind they are using ALIEN as the source marterial. Not ALIENS. It's as if Ridley Scott was making a video game vs James Cameron was making one.

This will he survival horro with one Xenomorph, and possible other a very few other baddies. They wany to re-alien the Alien to make it scary again, and from what I have seen...they are doing just that;

I just finished this game about 2 minutes ago and I have to say this is easily the best Alien game in existence. Id go so far as to call it worthy of being a direct sequel to the original Alien movie.

The story was absolutely superbly written with all the familiar feelings of an Alien movie without being a complete rip off.

The audio design was amazing as it actually made me feel like I was being hunted on a semi-abandoned space station, with all the creaks and shifting metal, the sounds of the Alien scurrying through the vents, the hisses and the sound of its feet stomping along the ground as I cower in a corner.

The gameplay mechanics worked perfectly with no hitches. The "combat" that exists doesn't feel clunky and it feels like it has more purpose then to simply appeal to FPS lovers.

The A.I was pretty excellent, though I have heard varying opinions on this. The consensus seems to be that its pretty decent and personally I had no issues with it. Other then the fact the Alien was terrifying when you couldn't understand its movement patterns.

The voice cast was also superb, a bunch of not well known voice actors and motion capture actors working together to form an amazing cast of believable people.

Seriously, I haven't felt this good after finishing a game in a very long time. Easily best game of the past two years so far for me. Definitely a must buy.

It's good to have another Alien fan. I don't see too many of those around here. I'm also hyped for this game. It looks amazing as I once said here.

From what I've seen of the gameplay it looks startling as hell. You can defend yourself temporarly, but it's just as atmospheric as other good atmospheric games such as Amnesia, Silent Hill or Slender.

Once the Xenomorph appears it's non-stop excellent horror. Especially if you play in the Survival mode, where you start right away hiding from dickhead. It's incredible how a monster like that is still terrifying after all these years. They had to change a lot of things in many classic monsters to still make them scary, but that doesn't apply to the Aliens.

The first movie would still freak out most people, and it scared the hell outta me when I first saw it as a kid. This game basically follows the movie. Not as I wanted it to be, but at least it's not retelling what we already know, it's a game made by the fans and for the fans.

The atmosphere in this game is what surprises me. Even if it's a dark setting, it's space. Heck, not even Dead Space 1 or 2 had such good atmosphere. The Necromorphs still look a tad ridiculous to me. But not the Xenomorphs. They're like the combination between a crocodile and the raptors from JP.

In short, the game looks awesome, you won't waste anything if you buy it.
