Tuathal grinned. As much as he hated to see Jarvis getting knocked unconscious, a win was a win, and he wasn't so sure he'd be able to come out on top that time. Not to mention that he was happy to see that Cass had made it this far as well. He walked over to her after giving his pokemon to the nurse. "Hey, congratulations on making it this far. If your battles were as tough as mine, you deserve it."

((Whoops, that went right over my head.  Sorry!))

@,@, @@Ampharos,

Lurele turns around quickly at the sound of another voice approaching, smiling widely at the other trainer.  The pokemon in her arms doesn't react quite the same way, the shy Vulpix turning her head to hide it under Lurele's arm.  "Oh, hi there!  Well, there's a really nice old man named Mr. Fuji taking care of young pokemon in the abandoned gym...  I bet if you asked nicely he would be willing to fix them up for you!  We just came out of there ourselves."

After a brief moment of consideration, Lurele switches Vulpix to a one-armed hold so she can hold out her hand in greeting to the new trainer.  "I'm Lurele, by the way!"  Vulpix squeaks quietly at the new way of being held, pawing at Lurele's arm as though afraid that her new trainer might drop her by accident.  "All the way out here, I don't suppose you were planning on going to Rustboro, were you?  We were about to head into Petalburg Woods...  But if we're all going the same direction, we could wait up and travel together if you want!"  She smiles happily at the other trainer, lowering her hand long enough to get Vulpix comfortable before extending it again.

@@@@Ampharos,

"Oh, really? Thanks! That's exactly perfec-" Stella cut herself off, finally noticing the pokemon the female trainer was holding. This pokemon was. Absolutely. Adorable! It's shy demeanor was just like Cottonee's as well! If Cottonee wasn't cute already, this pokemon had to be the very definition of cute. Lurele's question was completely ignored by Stella, though she heard every word. "Wow! You're pokemon is absolutely adorable!" Stella commented, literally twirling around. "It certainly seems shy, though. Just like my Cottonee, actually! Cottonee, come on out!" Stella then summoned the shiny grass type, who floated into Stella's arms, immediately hiding it's face from the two new trainers, expecting to battle one of them. Cottonee didn't like battling.

"Oh. Apologies. That was pretty rude, wasn't it? Well, I'll gladly accept your offer. Though I'm going to Dewford City, both are in the same direction. I'll just get healed first, of course. Thanks for the help, by the way!"

Cheshire turned at the sound of the new voice and, quite literally, disappeared. Locke recognized the girl's face from the docks. "Oh hey, I think I saw you at the pier! Yea, yea Jewel tried to hold your Cottonee I think. And yea, if you're going to Dewford, then I guess we'll be heading in the same direction. I'm Locke, in case you didn't remember, and this new addition to my team is..." Locke looked around for a second before scratching his head. "Huh. @@@@Ampharos,

Stella stared at the male trainer for a while. Who was he? He reminded her of someone. Someone with an adorable yellow pokemon. But, they probably never had met before. "Sooooorry! But I don't think I know you!" Stella said. Cottonee glared at the trainer. This was the one with the scary pokemon that Litwick had forced her to say "hi" to! Not good. Not good at all.

A sudden cry came from behind Stella, making Cottonee flail and give a faded scream. Stella spun around to see what looked like another ghost type. But this ghost was super cute! "Aw! Hi there!" Stella said to the pokemon, patting it's head... or rather horn thing. "Well, I really best be going to heal up my party. Thanks for your help! If you still want to travel with me, I'll come back here." The girl then headed for Mr. Fuji's house, with a sigh of relief from Cottonee.

Locke chuckled at Stella and her Pokemon. That Cottonee sure looked like it remembered him. "Ah it's ok. I think I've got that sort of face. Oh there you are Cheshire! Come on back over here will you." The Pokemon looked confused at Stella. Why hadn't she been scared? Why did she pat her on the head? Cheshire frowned slightly as the girl walked back into Mr. Fuji's house. She then made her way back over to Locke and floated behind him, her smile returning to her face.

Immediate bad move, Anton... Oh joy, everything here is Team Mortar. And I thought that the tunnel had some horrible grunts in there... But, I should go and try to find something useful to do in this town. Might even some repairs here or driving away Mortar to restore the town as well! Hmm... Well, I don't need to heal at all... Perhaps...

Anton made his way over to the Pokemon Gym nearby, smirking a bit over at the grunt nearby. "Pardon me, sir, but I would like access to the Gym here! So, if you could kindly move out of the way so I may start the challenge here, then that would be wonderful, okay?"

Cass shrugged. "They weren't that bad. The Munchlax I fought in the defense room was a stockpiler. Kinda gross. And the Pidgeot in the Evasion room was pretty easy, actually. Meowstic's Magical Leaf never misses. It just took a few hits. And in the Top Room..." Cass laughed. "That room was a joke, I swear." When she tried to explain it, she just started giggling. Retrieving her Skitty from Joy, she smiled. "I'll go ahead and take a swing at Norman. You can come watch if you like." Joy was tending to Jarvis anyway. Surely one watched battle was in order.

- skipping over the first several rooms -

The old man turned around and smiled as Stella came into the room. "It's a busy day for old Fuji," he said good-naturedly, as if he did not mind all the visitors at all. "A friend of young Mr. Locke's, perhaps?" he asked, peering sideways at her. "Good, good. I'm sure there'd be a pokemon here that would like to travel with you, just like Shuppet took to Locke, if that's what you've come for."

Just a reminder of who all still live in the house...

Zigzagoon, Nincada, Shroomish, Vulpix and Slakoth

Other room... Meditite,  Clefairy,  Ratatta, and Shuppet.

In this peaceful environment, you can examine the Pokemon with your dex and learn a bit about them.

"Oh, no! I've just come to get one of my pokemon healed. I just caught her." Stella said, summoning her Cascoon who sat before the old man and looked rather angry, though that anger soon fell to a much more calm expression. After all, the old man and the house in general just seemed to ooze serenity. Well, maybe not for all people, but for pokemon it certainly did. "But, I wouldn't mind a new partner..." Stella added. The pokemon in this room didn't particularly interest her. "I'll just look in the other room, oki?" She asked rhetorically, smiling at the old man and leaving Cascoon with him.

In the other room, the selection was much better. One of the pokemon in this room was absolutely adorable. Stella checked it's pokedex entry. "Clefairy! The Fairy Pokemon! On every night of a full moon, they come out to play. When dawn arrives, the tired Clefairy go to sleep nestled up against each other in deep and quiet mountains." The pokedex spoke. "Well! Aren't you just the cutest thing!" Stella said, kneeling down next to the Clefairy and attempting to pet it.

Tuathal nodded. Having to hear her battles without being able to see what was happening had been stressful, and it wasn't like he had anything else to do. "Of course. I wouldn't want to miss it. Do you think you're ready for it? No offense, but I doubt it'll be easy. Norman must be a pretty remarkable guy if he's been able to keep this area out of the war."

"Yes, sadly, you are... So, if you could kindly move out of the way, then I would honestly appreciate it." Anton shot back, figuring simple small wouldn't work. Well, his last resort came around to just pull out Luxio and letting him have it. Or maybe Cubchoo, though it might not be a great decision on that... Oh well, whoever he chooses in the heat of the moment.

Clefairy recieved Stella's affections well enough. It seemed to absolutely bask in the attention it was receiving.

Do you think you're ready for it? No offense, but I doubt it'll be easy. Norman must be a pretty remarkable guy if he's been able to keep this area out of the war."

Cass shrugged. She looked momentarily unsure and insecure, but took a deep breath and said, "I'm not sure. But I may as well try, right? I've made it this far."

She walked into the next room unconcernedly. Norman was waiting.

Slightly balding, Norman wore a red jacket. One could tell he was a powerful trainer just by looking at him. He had that indefinable aura about him. He looked kindly at his young challenger. "May I see your pokemon?" Perplexed, Cass sent out her Skitty, Flabebe and Meowstic. After examining them for a few seconds, Norman scratched his chin. "How many badges do you have?" "None. Well, none from Hoenn, anyway," Cass admitted sheepishly. "I'm afraid you're not strong enough to challenge me yet," Norman said. The manner in which he said this was kindly enough, but nonetheless, it was a blow to Cass' pride. "Why don't you come back after you get two more badges, at least? I'll be waiting for you then. You won't have to battle all my trainers again. Now who's your friend? Maybe's he's ready." Seething, Cass stepped back to allow Tual to go through the same BS process she just did.

The grunt rolled his eyes and stepped out of the doorway.

Rustboro Gym had undergone some renovation. It now resembled a fully-fledged maze made out of crags and fissures of artifical rock formations.

A man in an impeccable green suit, with a rather poofy hairstyle, smiled at Anton. "Welcome to Rustboro Gym. I'm Clyde, and I'll be your guide to the gym. To get through to Roxanne, you need to navigate safely through the maze, battling at least two trainers on the way. Your battle with Roxane will be a three-on-three, and each trainer in the maze has two pokemon. Once you clear the maze, you'll be able to go heal your pokemon before battling Roxanne. Do you understand?"

Stella smiled at the pink pokemon. It seemed to like her. Or, at the very least, it liked the attention she was giving it. "Would you like to come with me, little one?" She asked the pokemon, petting it a bit more. If the pokemon refused, Stella would be absolutely heart broken! She couldn't battle it in here, and there wasn't a single pokemon as cute as this Clefairy.

"Thank you, Clyde. But yes, this place does seem like the perfect place. I understand this and I gladly accept the challenge!" Anton had announced, looking back over the maze of rocks and crags his way.

So, a rock maze... So, this Gym Leader, Roxanne... She must be a Rock type Gym Leader? I actually like what she has done with the Gym layout. A cute, little maze, unlike Fantina's 'run around in the dark and screech like a girl' Gym challenge...

Clefairy broke away from Stella's attentions, and seemed momentarily unsure. It glanced towards Fuji, who was tending to Stella's pokemon, clearly torn. Then, with a sudden chatter, it tackled Stella with an obvious YES.

Clefairy's data has been added to the Pokedex.

Clefairy, the Fairy Pokémon. On nights with a full moon, Clefairy gather from all over and dance. Bathing in moonlight makes them float.

Clefairy_by_brackenhawk.jpg

Shuppet.

First Encountered: Petalburg House of Memories.          OT: Fuji. CT: Locke.          Gender: Female

Nature: Quirky. Somewhat vain.

Ability: Magic Guard. This pokemon doesn't have to worry about being hurt by anything that doesn't clearly cause harm.

Moveset: Moonlight, Disarming Voice, Metronome, Follow Me. Can be taught Moonblast, Meteor Mash, and Covet with minimal training.

This Pokemon has already been trained by another trainer, and is powerful itself. You may have trouble getting it to listen until you have a few Hoenn badges.

Kindly old Mr. Fuji tottered over with Stella's healed pokemon. "Looks like you've made a new friend," he murmured, returning her pokeballs to her. "Hopefully Clefairy will enjoy the journey as much as you will. Good luck on the road, traveller!"

@,

Tuathal shook his head. "I doubt it. I don't have any badges from anywhere. Never got around to that stuff. But if you want to see them, here are my pokemon." He released Jarvis and No-name, paused for a second, and then figured he might as well release his as-yet unnamed Poochyena.

After examining Tuathal's pokemon as well, he said, "Same goes for you as for your friend. You must be a strong trainer to have made it this far, but you're not strong enough to battle me yet. Go earn some more badges, and come back. You won't have to challenge the Gym Trainers again the second time."

After exiting the building, Cass used some rather shocking words to vent her feelings towards the Gym Leader, and how he thought she wasn't ready. Then she groaned and shook her head. "Maybe he's right. We should probably travel a bit anyway." Now seeming rather abashed, Cass kicked at a small rock dejectedly.

Unknown to Anton, the first trainer he encountered was directly above him, halfway up the stone wall, wearing rock-climbing equipment. He rappelled down to right behind Anton as he turned a corner, and said, "Boo!"

"Alright!" Stella exclaimed, returning Clefairy to her pokeball, and then making sure to pick up her Cascoon, who Mr. Fuji had supposedly healed. "Thank you very much, sir." Stella bowed to the man on her way out.

She soon returned to the two trainers that planned to travel with her. "Sorry to keep you two waiting!" The girl said, with short breathes as she had basically run there. "But, I caught a new friend. Clefairy, lets go!" With that, Clefairy was summoned. She immediately perked up, exclaiming a few cries of enjoyment.

Lurele smiled as Stella rejoined them, her Vulpix perking up a little when it sees the familiar Clefairy.  "Great - aww, such a cute Clefairy!  That was one of the ones Mister Fuji was taking care of wasn't it?"  Of course it was, they had just left Mister Fuji's makeshift home themselves.

"Anyways, yeah, let's get on the road!  Where did we say we were going?"  It hadn't been all that long, but Lurele was absolutely terrible with directions.  She'd already forgotten their destination, or even the direction they were planning to go to get there.  "Something about a gym - either way, I'm pumped and ready to see more of Hoenn!"

Clefairy, who thought the ghost type was playing, immediately tried to grab a hold of it. Which caused it moving away again to leave Clefairy falling right on her face. Stella giggled at the sight. Clefairy was absolutely adorable. "Return, ok?" She said, summoning it back into it's pokeball.

"Yea, it is!" Stella said, in response to the girl's question. "And, what Locke said!" Locke's Shuppet soon floated down to Clefairy.

@@@Ampharos,@,

"Oh yeah!  That sounds kinda familiar now."  Lurele turns and starts to walk off, before realizing she was going back the way they'd come.  Directions really weren't her strong suit.  Turning around she starts walking towards what she believed to be Petalburg woods, excited to get back on to their adventure.  She nuzzles her Vulpix just a little as she walks, the shy pokemon content to let Lurele carry her.  "This will be great, traveling is always more fun with friends.  Not to mention it'll probably be safer, right?  I mean, not that I'm afraid or anything!"

Petalburg Woods was a lot soggier than it once had been - or at least the southern half was. It was kinda marshy on this end. Probably a direct result of the Flooding of the City.

There were one or two purple frog pokemon kneeling at the edge of a boggy patch, and a little purple Skorupi lolligagged in a particular stinky patch. There was a cliff ledge that looked reasonably dry, but it didn't look very easily climbable. An odd sloth pokemon hung from a tree lazily.

@,

Tuathal shrugged. "We've gone this far together, and I've really enjoyed your company. Plus I always prefer traveling in a group.. I don't see why I'd part ways with you now. Unless that was your way of saying you'd rather go it alone. I understand if you'd prefer it that way."
