gaming Jak and Daxter VS Ratchet and Clank

While I'm still waiting for Naughty Dog to make JAK 4, and while Ratchet's recent game is becoming more and more underrated, I kept thinking which dynamic duo is better? I personally prefer Jak but its nice to see what others have to say on the matter. Which duo do think is the ultimate duo in the Sony universe?

I liked the jak n daxter games more

 

atleast the first two. I only played one Rachet and Clank game.

 

But Jak and really brght vivid colors and I like all the characters

Jak and Daxter was always my favorite not to say i don't love ratchet and clank they were both important games in my childhood and is there gonna be a Jak 4? I can't wait!

DONT MAKE ME CHOOSE. Okay Ratchet and Clank i am a sucker for every thing in the Ratchet and Clank games when i was a kid i got 100% completion in number 3 and unlocked the easter eggs room

Jak and Daxter definitely, though I liked the Ratchet and Clank games they were still not as awesome as Jak and Daxter were. Jak and Daxter was awesome and if there is ever going to be a new Jak and Daxter game I can't wait.

I've always preferred Sly, actually. He technically works alone/in a group but I always loved those games more. Granted I haven't played more than half of the first Jak game but from what I know of the Jak series I don't think much is gonna change.

 

However, just so I don't sound like a total douche, within the bounds of this topic I'll say R&C.

I've always enjoyed Jak and Daxter in my childhood, but I'll give Rachet and Clank credit because both games are very enjoyable once you think about it.

Dam, what a tough decision, but by my standards, I'll go with ratchet and clank, they are a more fitting duo ready for anything despite the odds.

 

That, and clank is the best robotic sidekick I've ever seen, and the weapons they can obtain are legendary and chaotically unstoppable....

It's not even a competition, Ratchet and Clank all the way for me.

 

I enjoyed the first and third Jak and Daxter but I didn't care for the second much at all. And that racing game? It sucked.

 

I've played all of them but All For One and Full Frontal Assault. The ones I have played, though, loved them all although I'd say Deadlocked is the weakest of them. They're creative, engaging, adventurous, action-packed, funny, and clever.

 

I MEAN COME ON. You get so many wacky weapons to use! Ever wanted to turn your enemies into gigantic exploding chickens?

 

And hoooly craaap the sci-fi elements. And the music. Yay.

 

I think that R&C is very underrated.

I played and loved Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal, Deadlocked, Future: A Crack in Time, Sly 2, Sly 3 and Jak II.

It's really hard to think of which one I liked the most. I played Deadlocked the most, that I know for certain though.

I think I have to go with R&C, since I just recall enjoying those games more. Haven't played either series in years, however.

I love Jak & Daxter AND Ratchet and Clank.

I think that they shouldn't have a VS. game, but rather a team-up game.

They'd make an awesome duo-team!

Hard to say, I played every game in each series and loved them both. However it's a weird situation for me, you see from a gameplay standpoint I feel that Ratchet and Clank games blow Jak and Daxter out of the water. The guns feel decidedly more accurate and responsive, the platforming more logical and complex, and the general feel of how things handle is quite nice.

 

But from a world, atmosphere, and character standpoint, Jak and Daxter EATS Ratchet and Clank alive. The Precursor Legacy had easily one of the most quirky, odd, and immersive environments ever made, and I feel that while the gameplay got better with each game the environment didn't. Haven in Jak 2 has such an oppressing feeling, in Jak 3 it did, but it seemed way too over the top, and Spargus was a glorified island that you left so quickly it didn't even feel like much of an exile in the first place. An hour into the game and Ashelin swoops by and just says "HAY, COME BACK TO HAVEN GUYZ". You do two missions of being pouty and then go back. Ratchet and Clank did have a great world, and fun characters, but Jak and Daxter did the environments so well over the games that it's hard to argue their prowess. At the end of the day, I prefer Jak and Daxter, but I freely admit that in terms of gameplay Ratchet and Clank is so much better.

 

Unfortunately, don't expect a new Jak and Daxter anytime soon. Naughty Dog at present is more interested in making "cinematic experiences" than games. Sure, The Last of Us is fun, Uncharted has its charm, but I like my Jak and Daxter a lot more. Maybe it's for the best though, Jak and Daxter went out without a single bad game (aside from the last frontier, but I didn't think that was particularly bad anyways), and maybe it's best to leave it there.
