Fanfics as actual episodes, anyone?

I think legally it's a touchy issue, unless 8maybe* the fanfic writer gets hired by the show- and even then I'm not sure.

Even with legality aside, though, I'm not sure I'd want this.  Even if you have a really well written, 100% show accurate fanfic, I wouldn't want that story adapted- I'd rather have the writers mine creative new ground, rather than try their take on something that was already done.

No, I wouldn't want any fanfics to be made into episodes.  Even if you have a really amazing story that fits into canon and would work as an episode, I still think it makes no sense to have a fanfic as an episode.  For one, the plot would be ruined for all the people who already had read the fanfic, which on a fundamental makes the entire episode useless.  Nobody wants to see Hasbro do remakes of fanfics, they want unique stories.  And if nothing else, I can't even imagine the ridiculousness of fanfics after that happened... every person with a crayon and a sheet of paper would be complaining because Hasbro didn't make their fanfic into an episode too.

As ridiculous as that may sound, I would be on board with it if done right.

To be fair, there are some great fics that would be enough to be an episode.

And if it's alright, I would be mostly interested in a shipping fic like flutterdash, but that's just me.

I think it would be funny to put up such an episode in front of a bunch of fans,

watch them love it and go "oh yeah that's based on a fan fic!"

and watch them go "oh no that sucked!"

you know the people who'd do that to on principle.

"the idea of it" bothers me people.  Not the actauly enjoyment part.

I'm sure it could totally be done.

The idea it can't be done assuming the writing staff only churns out solid gold.

Seriously there are fans out there who'd watch a sequel to spike at your service before this idea on principle.
