Right so as the topic title says, should we start altering genetics for humans or at least a lesser organism for testing?

my opinion, lets start on lesser organisms or volunteers to try genetic manipulation on modern humans, think of the advantages! And the disadvantages, so, what do you think?

I know some people might support genetic engineering, but I won't. I'll explain why, I don't think manipulating the genetics of humans or any lesser organism is necessary because we would be better off leaving the genetics as they are and we would have to do more testing to see if it's safe for use. However, it does have its advantages and disadvantages.

This will lead to tons of problems. How about we learn to take care of the people are naturally born first. People are dangerous with something as simple as a glock....We can't even handle nukes. Conducting eugenics will only lead us into fascism and the expendable use of people....Why do you think we're called "human resources" in this world?

Yes, I think it wouldn't be too bad. There are problems but there are also good things that could come out of it. The good outweighs the bad. We could get rid of a lot diseases, other problems as well.. But it's kind of 50/50, I think we should give it a couple of more years and begin with smaller organisms.

Though we could also look at it this way, our body already is still evolving on it's own. So maybe it isn't good that we interfere but we never know unless we try I guess.

Every scientific advancement is always frat with problems but I honestly think this would be a great step forwards in mankind. There could be any number of benefits that could come from this anywhere from military to medical. There are numerous disadvantages though, most of the ones we'd face from the get-go would be testing but as one of my favorite characters once said;

"You wanna make an omelet, you gotta break some eggs."

Absolutely yes, because I appreciate transhumanism, the ideology of altering human beings, humanity as a whole and other beings for the bettering of mankind, sake of itself, blatant hedonism and quasi-metaphysical transcendence, through genetic engineering, nanotechnology, bionics, artificial intelligence, shamanism, biotech and all that stuff.

Alex, Alex! You're walking away from history! History! Did Chris Columbus say he wanted to stay home? No! What if the Wright Brothers thought that only birds should fly? And did Galoka think that the Yulus were too ugly to save? -- Centauri to Alex Rogan; "The Last Starfighter" (1984)

Yes, because I want an army of Mantis Men. What? Not noble enough for you? Fine, we could help the human race as a whole with it's medical benefits.

tough the nazi's tried creating the 'ubermensch' in WWII.... it didn't end well.

The concept of "Übermensch" (superhuman) originates from the 19th century German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, he believed that the reason for life is to serve humans if it's animal, plant etc. and for human (Menschen) to evolve into supermen (Übermenschen) which can do what they like then... that's it.

@,i know what ubermensh means, i live next to germany! XD

anyway, you should read up on some of the biolabs the nazi's created to make 'ubermenschen'.

here, i'll link you to a site explaining it.

As far as I know the Nazis thought that the "Aryans", a people from ancient myths and legends presumed to have lived in Atlantis and Himalaya, are the super race and destined to rule over all the world but come from Germany not Middle/South Asia, were they originated, landed their starships or fled to after the destruction of Atlantis or Asgard. The Aryans were tall, blonde with blue eyes, strong, of great healthy and stature and had blue-green skin,... just joking of course they were thought to be white by the Nazis. ;)

Then they build that biolabs you mentioned were they did experiments to create those Aryans or Übermenschen, many believe this was carried out by occultists like the secret Thule society that also practiced shamanic rituals and such things.

O-kay, back to topic. The Nazis have misused the ideology of transhumanism and the benefits of genetic engineering. ^^

Like everything in the world, the key is responsible use of knowlage.

Detecting and fixing major life hindering conditions that many people have to live with every day.  Blindness, genetic illneses, handicaps, all could be lessend or prevented (with parents consent.)

If you were having a child and they detected a problem, would you chose to have a genetic fix or not and have your child live with the problem?

I feel the Pros are a great deal more than the Cons....

I don't feel it would be nesissary to Boost up our abilitys, Strength, speed, ect.

I wouldn't support it, at least in most cases. Sure you can cure diseases and deformations with it, but that type of thing would get really out of hand. Who knows, maybe scientists would create an entire army of superhumans and cause an apocolypes. I know it sounds weird an unlikely, but that's what could happen if we had the ability to genetically engineer humans.

Plus, I just think playing God is just as moraly wrong as murder, probably even worse.
