Getting lectured over something stupid

Im sure we all have been yelled at or lectured by your parents, a relative, a teacher or a boss. But sometimes, we tend to get lectured or yelled at over a SMALL task.

For example, just today, I forgot to do one small task and my mother comes up and asks me about it and I said "I forgot" and she just goes off and on about how rude and disrespectful i was. Like...really? I mean she has been in a sour mood all day and has been lately due to a feminine thing that happens when you begin to get older...but point is, it ticked me off because It was a SMALL task.

Has there ever been a situation with bosses, other relatives, your parents, teachers, etc that go off when you do a small task wrong or forget or just anything that really wasnt necessary?

Yep I can relate... My step father is the kind of person who is critical over the smallest of things. He could give you a list of things to do and sure you could do every one of those things right. When he gets home its like he has to find something and I mean anything to gripe about. Makes you feel like nothing you do is enough and honestly I have gotten to the point in which I no longer care anymore if he is pissed. It is basically his way or the highway and there is *no* pleasing him at all.

Dont get me wrong, I love my mother, but she does that ALL the time. She always has to find something to complain and gripe over and anything I do, I cannot seem to please her. Like, I forget one small task and its like I murdered someone. I do one small thing wrong and its the end of the world. Grrrr.

Bro just talk to your mom. She sounds like she just snapped due to stress, and you not doing that one thing was just the straw that broke the camels back, she probably didn't want to lecture you like that, but it was an opportunity to vent some stress just talk to her about it. But as for being lectured about stupid shit.....man I need outa this liberal state I cannot take anymore forced sociology classes which are nothing more than an hour of SJW hivemind.

My parents want me to not be sarcastic and mean. Good luck with that. Stupid people...

I only love you platonically.

As in plate tectonics.

As in two bodies sliding against each other.

I've been lectured over small things before, though I can't recall any of them right now since it's been awhile.

Also, here's a tip when you get lectured over something small: look for the hidden issue behind the lecture, not the lecture itself. Basically, everything happens for a reason, and when you get lectured over something small, there is often a much larger issue that you aren't seeing. That doesn't mean that you should make a big deal out of it, but it does mean that you shouldn't belittle the supposedly small problem or the lecture just because it seems insignificant. If you can't find the hidden issue, then maybe ask the person lecturing you about why they are doing that and if there's something else on their mind. If you do find the hidden issue, then look for a solution to it.

My mom would lecture me on everything and anything that she can find a reason to. It’s a Asian thing haha.

When I was a teenager, I was on my fifth consecutive summer working as a cave guide, and I had given thousands of tours. But one day a newbie, who had only given four tours EVER lectured me for going down into the cave before hours and repairing the lights that he had neglected to fix (it was HIS job after all). All he ever did was stick little orange caution flags in everything and wait for weeks until he felt like fixing stuff. I didn’t want to give any more tours in the pitch dark so, in the interest of safety for myself and my tour groups, I fixed the lights myself. He very condescendingly told me it was stupid and dangerous to do so. But if he’d have done his job I wouldn’t have had to do it for him.
