Monkshood's mouth curled, showing only the faintest of smiles. It always felt good to be with somepony who both respected, and knew his skills. "Thank you, I appreciate your honesty sir". His hooves clacked and his saddlebags rattled as the group made their way to the hospital. Soon, they had made their way through the city streets. Silence had filled much of their journey so far. Stopping, he stood before the mouth of the structure. "We should go in, and see what's occurring with this disease", he said as he walked through the doors of the hospital.

@@Moaning Myrtle@@Nomadic@,

Starlight began to answer Johanna's question, but stopped as he walked through the doors. He took a breath before walking in. At the nurse's desk, he looked at her. She looked up and seemed to lean backwards slightly, visibly unnerved if only a tiny bit by the Lord Inqusitior's unnatural presence. "Hello, sir... err... may I help you?

"Indeed you may. I am looking for access to the plague wards for the mysterious disease that has hit the town. I am from a small convent nearby, and my masters and I wish to see if we can find a cure a treatment, or a prevention method for it. I have the paperwork right here, should you need it."

The nurse looked at the paperwork he handed him, and blinked. "Err... very well. If you could follow me, please..." She got up and began trotting along, glancing over her shoulder to ensure that you were following. After falling back a short distance from and following the nurse, he turned to Johanna. "Not only do you need field experience, I also would like to have a pony who also specializes in and can assist me with the black arts, should we need to use them. That's the primary reasons why I chose you to accompany me."

Suddenly, a large phoenix flew in through a nearby window and, after the initial shock, released a letter to Starlight. He then read it, scribbled a quick response on the reverse side, and gave it back to the bird, which then took off. The Lord Inquisitor had a content smile on his face...

((For nioniosbbbb only...))

Dear Mr. Lionmane.

You caught me at a particularly bad time. I am currently unavailable, but if you meet me at the Baltimare headquarters, I will be glad to talk to you upon my arrival back at base. In case you have forgotten from the demon hunting days, I have included a small map to the base of operations. The only reason that I have done so is because of your phoenix. Reliable birds, they are.

Sincerely,

Lord Inquisitor Starlight Shine, The Branch of Twilight

You eventually end up at a wall filled with runes. Charcoal could sense the runes all being charged with different energies, some frying the ponies, some freezing them. But one of them- which the line guided you to- upon pressing it, teleported Charcoal- and all the ponies following her- into a long, dark hallway, illuminated by wisps. You can sense in the darkness several tubes filled with various, multicolored substances. Two of the wisps float in front of you, and, communicating a sense of leading, slowly started to navigate the maze that the demon lord wrought around himself...

"Oh, alright." The stallion huffed. "I guess I'll relate it again. I'm surprised you don't know it- it's a children's tale..."

"Well, a couple millenia ago, before we all hauled ourselves over to today's Equestria, there were a race of beings that came from another dimension or something. We didn't know what to call 'em, so they were christened "demons" because they sure looked like unholy terrors. They were almost numberless. There were seven leaders, each associated with some kind of fault or something, and they were led by a monstrous nightmare the size of Harmony Mountain. Then the previous princesses, before they got assasinated, with the help of the Princesses that we have now, they threw them all back with the help of a quartet of spirit-possessed ponies and nobody's heard of them since. Of course, that's not the full version, but I'm not a bard." He shrugged. "Hey, I say Nightmare Moon was supposed to be a myth, and suddenly she's back before she gets dealt with. Why not this? It fits what's going on around here, as well as what happened last year."

"You honestly don't know?" The stallion looked at you, incredulous. "Well... perhaps you were in Ponyville or something. The sky went black, everything was freaky, and no one would dare take a step outside. Celestia sent an army down south of Manehattan, and suddenly, poof, a week later, everything's back to normal. The princesses hand out a bunch of awards for bravery and stuff like that, and the world goes on." He shook his head. "I still think that they're lying through their teeth when they say that it was just a bunch of black-magic wielding bandits."

Manechilles & The Sandpony

The sewers had proved enough of a wasteful situation as it was to those who added to it; however the eventful meeting that took place was more than enough to set in motion a fire that was soon to envelope the land. Upon the leave of the other ponies, easy embers could swell until smoke began to rise. A old order would take rise again...with a crimson hoof.

Manechilles, finding the reason of his revitalization, agreed to accompany the Sandpony after strenuous attempts to find communication with him. The stallion didn't take well to following anything but the promise of leadership instigated him a little more. The Sandpony's father was a good pony by his standards, knowing a concept greater than he could have ever imagined; though he still held strong to his Storma ideals. Either way, why should he not humor this strange pony's intentions? Manechilles had already lived one life. Why not enjoy this one? "Keep up or be distraught and fall behind. It matters not to me earth-ridden!" he yelled back at the Sandpony who shrugged and continued forward with an annoyed breath. It wasn't long before the extremely curious pair walked the streets in intentions to execute the first order of their plan. 'Father...may this dream come to fruition...' the Sandpony's thoughts hummed.

Jacob sat at an intersection, completely lost. He'd wandered down a few streets then turned to realize that he was totally and completely lost. Gritting his teeth he turned in a circle a few times trying to get his bearings. Usually he could intuitively sense the poles, but that was when he was home. Here, he was totally lost. He looked at his surroundings again, and caught sight of two ponies walking along. He sighed, swore in dovah, and walked up to them. "Excuse me my good sirs. Can you point me in to the northern direction? What are the compass points? I'm a bit lost and need my bearings.

If thou weren't but an insect, I would smash thy puny skull!" he roared tauntingly. The Sandpony sighed scratchingly and shook his head with a stern breath. 'This pony will give us a great deal of trouble if he fails to control his boastful attitude...' his mind echoed. @@Frosty V@, @@Pripyat Pony,

As you peer around the corner, you are met with a slightly sickening sight. Four of the smaller mutants were circling around and cultivating what appeared to be a giant, fleshy pyramid, numerous orfices gushing questionable fluids onto the floor. You could here the construct moaning- whether in pain or in ecstasy you could not tell- which brings you to a jolt as you realize that this is merely another pony, mutated beyond his skills. Yet this particular mutation was unique- it was only given directly by a demon lord, which means that any previous notations of the mutant threat being a coincidence was proven false. But the problem was... how big was this infestation...?

Either way, the closest exit was on the farthest side of the room. Will you take the chance and try to cross, or will you venture on?

@@Charcoal Embers@,

Oh, well. It matters not. I will find them and talk to them at a later time. Resh let out a chiming sigh. I am unable to wait any longer though. We have to start putting plans in motion quickly. One major problem will be the prodigious abilities of the Lord Inquisitor Starlight. His rage started to simmer at the mention of him. Time to gain revenge in a fashion, as well as to help further our cause.

With this, a pair of pink crystals, each radiating a strong power and a sense of foreboding, was levitated out from the swirling abyss that was below the demon lord. These are mindshock crystals- they come from one of my own personal groves. Upon the use of any magic that manipulates either time, space, or mentally, they will absorb the energy used and give it back to them- in a form of an untamed blast of energy. Plant near in the Inquisition headquarters, and as soon as that old fool even tries to make a connection with those schools of magic, we no longer have him as a problem.

Oh, yes. Although we demons are immune to it, our... assistants and my mutants are not. I would not like it if you zapped one of my leader-mutants brain dead, even by mistake. That would pop a large sympase bubble, and I do not want to draw even more suspicion.

The nurse opened the door to the ward after putting on a mask, and suddenly...

It was if a wave of foul gas swept through the air. She quickly beckoned you all in before rapidly shutting the door. "Well, here we are," she commented, her mask muffling her speech slightly. It was a horrid sight, bodies covered in swollen lesions and blisters. The patients were of various sizes and ages, and you could detect a bit of sympathy coming from the Lord Inquisitor as he looked upon a small colt, no more than four or five years, lying unconscious on the cot. Up and down the rows, several nurses and doctors went up and down, with a particularly important-looking individual attempting to extract the pus from one of the chancres.

Starlight looked around for a while before turning to the others. "Monkshood, I want you to pick a few ponies and record all visible symptoms. Even with our plague wards, we cannot stay long here, so be rapid. Johanna, I would like you to help him for the moment. I shall take a look around the victims myself. Meet me in five minutes outside. Follow all safety and sanity protocols given to you after you leave- better to be safe than sorry. Just in case." With that, he whisked around, and swiftly approached a pony a few rows down who was conscious and appeared to be in great pain.
