I died in a dream but didn't wake up.

Yes I have died in dreams before.  It is usually better to wake up if you can, but if you are doing something so very important that you take the risk...  At any rate yes -- waking up is better -- If I die in a dream I wake up with my body and mind not very refreshed and it muddles the memory of the dreams somewhat.

One thing you can do upon waking up from that is to spend some time trying to make yourself whole -- trying to concentrate on what is you and drawing in anything that is missing.

I've never dreamt after my death...I always wake up the moment it happens.

I've been meaning to start logging my own dreams aswell - I've had far too many deja vú moments recnelty, i which I could swear I've dreamt somehting before it happens...

I clicked this thread because I died, and stayed dead, for the first time in my dreams only two days ago.

So basically I have reaaally strange dreams.

I was in NYC and was fighting this girl (literally three times my size) and was trying to drag her somewhere, I don't know why. We fought back and forth, I'd pull her for half a block and then she'd pick me up and run back. I finally managed to pull her pretty far and we were crossing a random, fairly busy street. When we first left the sidewalk a big school bus zoomed so close to us, I thought we'd get hit and I could feel the heat from the vehicle. The light was red, so I didn't expect it to happen again.

Once we were dead center in the middle of the crossing I heard a large truck barreling towards us (I was facing the opposite direction of the oncoming truck) and it hit us.

This was the scary part, I could feel everything. The girl and I were holding eachother already so we both got hit from behind. I somehow bent at the knees first and leaned backwards when it hit and I could feel my neck snapping backwards. It felt like it was in slow-mo because in reality it all would've been seconds. My neck cracked and the back of my head was touching my back. There was intense heat radiating from my neck and it spread through my body. There's nothing to describe the felling of when my head snapped backwards though, it was terrifying. I was scared more than I was in pain. But, after a few seconds my vision turned black.

This is the part where I am now dead, to those of you who don't care how I died exactly :P

Everything was black and I now felt cool. My body was floating and felt like it was descending. You know when you push your palms against your eyes for a while and its black with "stars"? Well I saw something similar to that. It lasted for around 1 minute.

Now, I don't know if you think I just entered another dream but I think it was a sort of afterlife. I woke up in my parents bedroom, the room was bright like it was already noon. It felt so real. I got up and still felt that weird cool sensation and somehow knew I was dead. But I thought that this was my real house, everything was so vivid and real and I was finally dead, I was happy.

I figured I was some sort of a ghost (which I never believed in) and found my sister in the living room, watching tv. She was crying and I didn't say anything because I already knew I was dead. Even though I felt bad for her, I was kind of ecstatic. My problems were gone, it took almost no pain, and now I can run around and travel the world as a ghost! Maybe I'd hate it eventually but for now it'd be fun.

Shortly after that I woke up, in my parents room... and it was noon! How creepy and disappointing. But then I remembered my parents were out of town and I just wanted to sleep in their jumbo bed that night.

I feel like this was really long so I doubt anyone will read it but if you do definitely respond!

This thread is super duper awesome ^_^

I've had this reacurring dream that just seems to pop up. I am in a house, and a boy comes to take me on a date, and my mother is screaming in the window. Then everything burns, and the boy and I are standing In a swirling bunch of ashes. I start choking and he just says "its okay, its okay..." then everything fades. And I'm just floating, and it feels like forever, just endless darkness. Then I wake up with chills.

I had a dream where my mom died. I woke up immediatly though. Maybe one of your family members died recently.

The weird thing is though that I have it every year or so. And nothing ever happens. Its very strange.

I did have a dream once, where I fell over a cliff. When I hit the cliff, everything went black. No sound. 2 seconds after, I suddenly heard a lot of screams, screeches, very bloodcurdling. It was scary enough to where I woke up screaming, and I had to get my parents.

I had no idea what the big idea was in the dream when I woke up, but soon after, I thought it was me about to enter hell, maybe.

EDIT: Oh yeah, it's very rare for me to have any nightmares, whatsoever.

I've had a few dreams where I've died and not woke up. Crushed under a boulder, executed at point plank, gunned down in a convenience store, melted by radiation in space. I die and just lay there for a bit still in my body, except for the space one, I just drifted among the stars.

I don't die anymore and I barely get hurt by anything and have this strange, dark power. Might be due to my overactive imagination creating this alter ego in my subconscious. Super powers are awesome! If only IRL...

I had one too. I remember being shot, just once, and slumping to the ground. My dreams are pretty much always in 3rd person perspective, so I simply watched me die and the dream just continued onward.

Oh god.. I know that feeling. it's the worst, most scariest feeling ever.

I had a dream a few years ago where I was a cop chasing down a wanted criminal throughout a town that I didn't even recognize. He walks into a home outside of town and all I hear is sound, can't hear myself, can't hear the convict. Nothing except sound and static. Then it all came back. I find the guy hiding in a corner in a bedroom and he pulls out his gun, I pull out mine. I threat him to give up or I shoot. He didn't so I shot, but it was a blank round. I look at him and to  myself thinking "CRAP!". And then all of a sudden, everything went black. A bullet was put through my head(sorry for being semi graphic!) and It was dark for a long time. I couldn't wake up. All of a sudden I wake up in my bed. I started crying sort of because I never had a dream like that before and I really thought I died cause you can die in your dreams.

A weird death dream I had was when I fell asleep with my face on a pillow and everything was black at first but then I saw a bunch of wobbly lines coming closer like I was falling, then everything was black for a while.

I don't think I've ever died in a dream before. For example, I've had guns pulled on me, but I always wake up right before they pull the trigger. I probably just don't remember it happening if it did. Also, if I do get into a life threatening situation in a dream, I usually start to lucid dream so I can get away.

Whenever I have a severe lack of sleep, I get a common dream where I not necessarily die, but come close to death. Then when I wake up, my mind is conscious, I can see Im in my bed, but I cant move or talk. Its the scariest thing to just lay there without control of your body. Motivation to sleep earlier I guess

I had this dream once I was a starship trooper (the original ones not the power armor ones) and I was on this ship getting chased by one of those big bugs the corridor I was running down just kept getting longer and the bug caught me and stabbed me in the back I didn't die then it threw me against the door at the end of the corridor and I landed facing it then started running at me so I used my pulse rifle (yeah from colonial marines) and I emptied the whole clip into it and it died but then I was just sitting there for about three minutes knowing I was gonna die from my wound listening to screams and calls for help over the radio then my body when limp and I died but I still didn't wake up I stayed like that for about five minutes then a squad of troopers came and found my body and took my dog tags and then closed my eyes that's when I woke up I swear I jumped out my bed and started looking for bugs to kill after that

I've had quite a few dreams that continued after my death before. I used to wake up if I was scared as a kid, then I woke up when I died but my nightmares began to get pretty consistent when I entered my Sophomore year in high school. It started with me just having typical nightmares every night, then they began to get worst. It's gotton to the point where I had a dream where I died twice in 1 dream. Now, I don't have a nightmare every night, I don't even have a dream every night, and I don't always die in my nightmares but they can become the goriest and scariest messes imaginable and I often wonder how my mind creates such things. I've gotton used to them and they don't even effect me much anymore. They seem to be trying their hardest to freak me out, though. I react more to emotional pain than physical, so once I got used to the gore, it decided to work with that. They've created a humiliating set of nightmares where I'm in all these really embarrassing situations and I just become a general laughing stock. Whatever man, I got used to those too.  Then.. I get these truly mentally tormenting dreams. Where it tries to bring up all my insecurities, guilts, everything. It brings in people I'd rather never see again and has them interact with me. It took me quite some time to adjust to these but they eventually became so common, I even got used to those. If the subject is relevant enough, I'll wake up in tears. They have affected me more than any dream where I've died.

..There's been one sexual nightmare that traumatized me the most but-

Okay, I trailed off there for a sec. The one where I died twice was really bizarre, some girl killed me because she was upset with her girlfriend and I suggested talking to her. So she killed me but then the scene reset. I changed my words and she went to beat her girlfriend. I tried to find an exit but ended up going into a room she didn't want me seeing and she killed me again. It tried to reset again but I woke up. It seemed to have wanted me to find a way out of this situation. I really kind of see it as a way of saying that words mean a lot and the nightmare was probably taking my two-faced personality into account. The second thing I said to her was "Maybe she's up to something." when replying to things, I sometimes have difficulties figuring out weather I want to be mean or nice.

I generally don't wake up at all if I've died in a dream and it goes to something different after everything's gone black but that was the first and only one I've had where I've died more than once and it tried to reset the situation.
