man dude man 555 February 26, 2014 Share February 26, 2014 Anything that can give you an outstanding self realization makes you more intelligent in my eyes, and MLP did just that for me. I embraced the love, and the messages every episode had to offer, having had dealt with many of them myself. I would say almsot anything can be a learning experience and that more than indefinably includes MLP
Solid 1,327 February 26, 2014 Share February 26, 2014 The truth is, MLP:FiM covered virtually everything Confucius said in regards to friendship. Intelligent? wise? Up to you
~Silver Essence~ 2,625 February 26, 2014 Share February 26, 2014 Just like most cartoons, not really. But I will say yes since the lessons and morals this show teaches to others is very nice and something most should learn by.
Renon Strike 67 February 27, 2014 Share February 27, 2014 season 1 writing was really intelligent and actually sparked a lot of debates especially the Pinkie pie sense one, i suppose the newer ones can but i admit the writing is not as clever but probably more entertaining but the one that sticks to mind is bats, it does reflect the real life issue of the Mauls creek blockade is actually a bigger scale and more serious, there are activists camping hoping to stop further development of the coal mining industry. I also do like how they handle situations realistically such as Filly Vanilli.
Linux Distro 109 February 27, 2014 Share February 27, 2014 No, but it can definitely show you how friends should be. And how to get them. Eh, sorta. 1 3DS FC: 3625-0707-6615 I play MK7, LM2, ACNL and pretty much all the good games for 3DS.
applejackson007 58 February 27, 2014 Share February 27, 2014 In a way I think... I believe it can make you a happier person and more friendly, I also think the morals of each episode can teach somepony something. But it is more intelligently put together than most if not all cartoons (besides those stupid educational cartoons eugh) 2 "Death is the sound of distant thunder at a picnic." - Storm Crasher Banner by 0blivion
DubWolf 17,264 February 27, 2014 Share February 27, 2014 I read a line somewhere that said, "it may sound corny, but thinking positively increases your IQ", so it might be possible since the show makes you think positively. Darker 1,351 September 5, 2014 Share September 5, 2014 To be fair, Spongebob is a much more intelligent show than MLP, so your mother was quite right. Answering your question, no. That never happens on a cartoon, specially on a children's cartoon. Do you want to improve your intelligence? Go watch more adult shows. Creamy Arty 6,252 September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 Tricky question. From a pedagogical standpoint, MLP doesn't seem to have much to offer. Not much to be found therein pertaining to literature besides Twilight's fondness for reading, and we've never learned anything about math from her despite how adept she is at it. No history lessons pertaining to Earth either. Some wisdom is to be found though, from lessons explicitly stated as the girls learn them or observing what they go through and the resulting consequences. Vicarious life experiences, but not much in the way of instruction, the type that we would consider capable of making anyone more "intelligent." On the other hand, I think MLP can help others develop the right frame of mind for learning. On my profile in the "motto" field is a quote I heard on Star Trek. I believe it paraphrases a significant part of the show's ideology and that of the brony fandom: "Challenge your preconceptions, or they will challenge you." Take that to heart, and you'll be open to an entirely new world of possibilities, and your mind will be in a better state to learn when opportunities and lessons arise. 1 Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! Visual Spectrum 1,932 September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 I'm not sure about the intelligent, but it did awaken my creative side of me which has been hibernating for years. Applejack Fan Club
Solid 1,327 September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 Depends on what intelligence you are talking about. Usually when we are talking about intelligence we are either referring to IQ (intelligence quotient) or EQ (emotional quotient, or emotional intelligence) I would say mlp definitely can increase peopl's EQ to a certain extent since it teaches people to become more respectful and sensitive to how others feel. For IQ, I couldn't say for sure. But the funny thing is since I started watching ponies (referring to G4. I watched previous gens before that but wasn't really too serious or anything) my grades have been increasing at a steady rate. Here's my GPA from when I started watching ponies. 2010-2011 8th grade GPA 3.07 (around when I started mlp:fim) 2011-2012 9th grade GPA 3.32 2012-2013 10th grade GPA 3.62 2013-2014 11th grade GPA 3.86 Just started my senior year now so no data for that yet. Well I can't say for sure but apparently it does for me 0_o, not sure why though. Maybe EQ and IQ have some kind of correlation?
Scorppio500 2 September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 Now I don't believe that it will make you more intelligent, but I've learnt a few things. I won't go into the details. Now let me ask YOU a question. How is it possible to become more intelligent just by watching a kids' show? I'm sure you've weighed a lot more variables, but how is it possible? I'm actually really interested in this topic. I'd like to hear some more answers. I'm not sure about the intelligent, but it did awaken my creative side of me which has been hibernating for years. As did it mine. I've never made so many drawings in my notebooks since I started watching. Also, it did wonders on my handling of a Glock 17. Live, Fight, Sleep, Eat, and Play. That's my philosophy. MorningFlash 214 September 6, 2014 Share September 6, 2014 I wouldn't say that MLP hasn't made me intelligent in terms of IQ, but I personally believe it really does open your mind and make you feel more accepting to people whom are different to you.
