Castle Bleck 19,386 February 27, 2014 #1 Share February 27, 2014 I know it's far from the best, but is it good enough for pony pics? By @Emerald Heart.↑
ponypowa96 106 February 27, 2014 #2 Share February 27, 2014 I would use a tool called Paint.NET (sounds like a website but it isn't, google it) . It's free, pretty easy to use, has lots of features, and works with most image types without the need for plugins (I used it to edit directdraw surfaces when I found out you needed to install an additional plugin with GIMP). In my opinion, it's the best free art software out there. Maybe you will like it. 2 ~=[,,_,,]:
Windseeker 546 February 27, 2014 #3 Share February 27, 2014 Not really no, the picture tends to blur terribly upon saving in MS paint, regardless of what file extension you use. I use Paint.NET and its pretty decent.

BassBrony 33 February 27, 2014 #6 Share February 27, 2014 I would recommend Photoshop. You can make anything on that program (Awesome Sig done by WarriorShy)

Wind Chaser 4,768 February 27, 2014 #8 Share February 27, 2014 My suggestion is you switch to GIMP, it is relatively easy to learn and offers more control than MS Paint.
Neon Fire 473 February 27, 2014 #9 Share February 27, 2014 Definitely not. I personally use Paint Tool Sai, and it's an amazing program. You can get a 30 day free trial, and after that it costs about $50 (which isn't too much, if you ask me). Or you could also use Gimp, which is free. I never really used Gimp aside from editing pictures or creating sigs, never for drawing though.
Billy-Rex 54 February 27, 2014 #10 Share February 27, 2014 I use paint. "WHAT?!" Well, I don't draw. I use it to resize images.
Gourgeist 262 February 27, 2014 #11 Share February 27, 2014 I use gimp because gimp is easy and comfortable to use. Much easier than photoshop. There's also paintool sai but I have trouble finding it for free [insert cool signature here] https://www.facebook.com/GhostlyPumpkinPokemon - Gourgeist on facebok
branfeynt 101 February 27, 2014 #12 Share February 27, 2014 Well, I saw on YouTube how one girl with MS Paint draw EqG Pinkie with curves and fill tools. That was jaw-dropping! She really did it well! But as you say you've got a tablet, then I'm pretty sure you want use paint\pencil tools. So, as Neon Fire already told, I suggest to use Paint Tool Sai or FireAlpaca. I tried many drawing programs not a while ago, but none would match the Paint Tool Sai. And the thing here is not about tools count or filters, or layers. It's about drawing itself. The feeling when you are drawing in Paint Tool Sai is very near to actually drawing on paper (very smooth and without lags). And it's the main reason for me to suggest this program to you! It's hard to explain in words, you should try it yourself. But maybe, it will tell you something. If you ever played in a fast-paced FPS in true 60 FPS or above and then you return to more common on consoles 30-40 FPS you've got in some way the same feelings. Well, Paint Tool Sai is 60 FPS. And FireAlpaca. I found this program only a couple weeks ago, but feelings the same as in Paint Tool Sai and it's completely free, but simpler and with bugs (sometimes). Also if you ever go to Linux. I like MyPaint. It's free and, in my opinion, it has one of the best pencil and eraser tools. Yeah, yeah, I'm telling about feelings again Hope to see more awesome drawings from you soon! And hope this post helps you somehow
Magic Twinkle 204 March 10, 2014 #13 Share March 10, 2014 I'd prefer GIMP over Paint.NET, both over MS Paint, lol. Also, if you ever look at vectoring, get Inkscape.
Dddrgn 450 March 10, 2014 #14 Share March 10, 2014 No. It has horrible blending, smoothing, etc. You won't get any decent lineart or shading with it. I use paint tool sai, it's cheap but not free. It's amazing when it comes down to drawing, and is built for tablet use. I would use gimp or paint.net if you are going the free route. "You must never give in to despair.
