Scootaloo

So, my favorite pony is Scootaloo, in case you haven't guessed. And aside from the normal ridicule I get for being a brony, I also get quite the ridicule from the fanbase for being a "Chicken lover". Now, I know it's all in good fun and we're all friends, but sometimes it goes waaaaay over the top, some people I talked to won't refer to Scoot as anything BUT chicken. The chicken pics featuring her come rolling in and, I'm just wondering (If you're a fan of Scootaloo) does this bother you? Do you think the writers will ever set the show in the future with the CMC and their classmates the age of the Mane 6 now, or will she be doomed to be a kid and a chicken forever? It's also possible that they could make her wings grow without aging everyone on the show. I don't know. Discuss, please.

Scootaloo is also my favorite pony: she's the best

I think the chicken joke is just like a catch phrase, even I sometimes say it

I don't see the writers ageing the characters, can't say for sure but I always figured they'd always stay the same age :)

I get what you're saying with that, but there's so much potential, don't you think?

i hope i did the multi quote thing right lol, but ya jake there is potential and to the no ageing part, there was something said that twilight wouldnt outlive her freinds implying no ageing on the show or they all become princesses, please dont be the second one, but they really should let scootaloo fly in my opinion

Hi @TheUnionJake, I have moved your topic from Sugarcube Corner to Show Discussion. The former is the place to discuss pony-related things that do not directly involve Friendship is Magic, while the latter is the place to discuss things directly involving Friendship is Magic. :)

I love Scoots. She's wonderful.

The chicken bit doesn't bother me at all, particularly as I don't consider it to mean she's a coward because, come on, Scootaloo's no coward. I just see it as her being a literal chicken, along with the other running gags in the fandom (e.g., Fluttershy is a tree, Sweetie Belle is a dictionary).

The Scootaloo chicken joke is just one of many overused and unfunny memes this fandom has a tendency to run to the ground.

That said it's still pretty funny when it's used as a Zelda reference

But its being so unfunny is precisely what makes it so funny! :D

Also, in reference to your avatar: Stupid, sexy Snake!

I don't mind the chicken joke too much, but it is a bit over-the-top. In fact, I just rewatched "Stare Master" and thought that scene was so underwhelming that I was surprised that it became a meme at all.

(Paraphrasing)

Scootaloo: That's not how you call a chicken

Apple Bloom: Then how do you?

Scootaloo: I don't know.

Apple Bloom: You call a chicken

Scootaloo: No way!

Apple Bloom: What are you chicken? Hey! Now I know how to call a chicken! Scootaloo! Oh, Scootaloo!

And...that was it. A cute/funny scene to be sure, but it's weird how some of the fanbase latches on to it. If anything, I thought the next scene where AB and Scootaloo are trying to earn Cutie Marks in arguing was funnier. Although the scene with the infamous "20% cooler" line in "Suited for Success" was no great shakes either.

Yeah the Scootaloo chicken meme seems kinda weak. 20% cooler I can see because it's reusable anywhere. Even the Lyra/Human thing (another I thought was kinda unfounded meh-tier) is better fleshed out than the Scootaloo/Chicken thing.

It doesn't bother me .. (I've seen some people who actually were) but it is kinda mean when you think about it.

I wonder if Scoot has nightmares, about getting her Cutie mark, and it's a chicken.

Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.

Huh... before reading this topic I wasn't even aware of the chicken thing  . Anyway, don't know why anyone wouldn't like Scootaloo. But I guess more to your question, I know Faust intended Scootaloo never to be able to fly and I wouldn't bring that up unless it was not for the episode "Flight to the Finish" which seems to imply that Scoot will likely never fly (Also anytime we see younger pegasi around Scoots age they do seem to be able to fly). I can see us maybe getting to see the CMC's cutie marks but that would likely happen whenever they think "this will be the last season". I doubt if we will ever get to see them at the mane 6's ages, and I'd prefer it that way. For the simple reason, it would mean we would know for positive what happens to most of the other characters 10 years down the road, as opposed letting the viewers decide for themselves what would the characters do on down the line (is normally alot more fun in my experience, for example Miyazaki films end in such a manner where I have to decide what would happen later). Though as far as aging in show, I think only a little over a year has passed in-show so the CMC will likely still look like kids when the series does end.

I know there's a place you walked
Where love falls from the trees
My heart is like a broken cup
I only feel right on my knees.
I spit out like a sewer hole
Yet still receive your kiss
How can I measure up to anyone now
After such a love as this?

I don't like Scootaloo one bit.

For the chicken joke. People might have just gotten board with it because they look it up all the time and it's the only funny thing to use with her. Scootaloo doesn't have much else that's funny about her. Could be why there are so many.

As for there age's, I don't see them aging them at all.
