we know that when cadance became an alicorn, Celestia adopted her as a niece. Do you guys think she did the same thing with twilight? (although twilight was already technically her and luna's niece-in-law)

Twilights parents are still alive. Cadance didn't have any parents. There is just no reason for Celestia to adopt Twilight. There relationship has not changed.

Really, I think Celestia was more of a mother figure to Twilight Sparkle than anything.

 

I mean, I know she had a mother on the show, but we seen Celestia a thousand times more than Twily's Mom.

 

We don't really know anything about adopting Twilight or anything. But I think they may both mentally have a mutual understanding of a mother and daughter relationship. ^^

My personal headcannon is that all of the alicorns in the show are somehow related to each other. If it's true that Princess Celestia and Luna are Cadences aunts and Twilight is her sister in-law, then that would make both Celestia and Luna Twilights aunt in laws by extension.

 

Even if Celestia and Twilight aren't related in terms of family ties, there relationship as teacher and student is already so strong and tight-knitted, that they may as well be considered family. That's just my 2-cents anyways.

Actually, Celestia adopted Cadence because she was an orphan.  I know Word of God is that she was raised by Earth Ponies, but that could have been an orphanage run by Earth Ponies.  Either way, that was the best thing for her to do for Cadence.  It's also possible that Celestia secretly knew that Cadence was related to her.  We all know how need-to-know-classified her information is.

i think it is actually possible considering cadence was adopted and somehow turned into an alicorn, now Celestia have been twilys Mentor ever since she was a young filly... celestia been their for her whole life and we seen celestia more than her own biological mother. we only seen her brother once or twice (couldn't count how many times we seen him). so in a way... yea.. also How Would that make since for a niece-in-law? no. Luna and Celestia are sisters so if Celestia were to Adopt Twilight as her own niece it would mean Luna would automatically earn the title of Aunt as well so she would probably not be in law instead an Actual Aunt along side Celestia
