My medication seems to be working at the moment in keeping me from getting too stressed or worked up about things, it doesn't always but I am trying. Some people might find what I daydream about, with the MLP fanfic and Bardo, and peaceful existence, is a sign of deep psychological issues and maybe it is, but right now I'm not in the mood to care. The illusion keeps me away from a world I can't change and have no power to.

Hmmm...

Never thought I would be asked to mentor someone especially from there.

A part of me is hesitant of my abilities in regards to what I could possibly teach this prodigious person, but after watching them for a bit...this person has incredible potential...

...They remind me of her...though I wonder if it's because she reminds me of them of if I want them to remind me of her.

They definitely surpass any of her known traits and capabilities.

Though it's starting to dawn on me why they came to me for help.

I maybe the only person in the world who could help them develop...well that.

This person has the capacity and potential for kindness and compassion that is beyond any person I'm aware of or have ever met.

Meanwhile I'm a heavily flawed person attempting to move forward despite what has happened, not just in the past decade, but in the past two weeks.

I must help them as much as I possibly can.

Helping them, helps the others.

However, if I do, I may potentially become another person entirely and I could quite possibly never return as I am.

The bigger question, I guess, is what will be left of me?

But before I do anything, I decided that I'm going to give them a sunflower.

It's only right.

It's pretty quiet around here huh. 0DKaMqC.png

Yep, now is towards the end of the most quiet period on the forums. Has been this way ever since I joined even with a greater number of active members.
The east coast of the US is waking and would be heading to work/school soon. The west coast is still very much asleep, Australia is asleep and most European members would be at work. Things will start to get more active in the next few hours. :jazz-hooves-please:

Then of course there is the weekend where we'll see a lot more people online.

As long as they're still alive and well that's what matters. It's upsetting that some people die and are lost forever. No one really knows how much time they have left, even with a medical diagnosis for a serious health condition they can only give you informed estimates of how much time you have left.

Oh that's where my guitar pick went. Black on black it goes missing about 20 times a day. tlwFSDO.png

For me items get lost mostly if they are small or same color as the surface they're on. I keep most of my SD cards in the draw of my desk for that reason. Anything small, guitar picks or other, is generally a bad idea to leave out in the open. Do you have a case to store it in with your guitar?

I'm not terribly concerned, I do have a container for them. XtPIDqN.png It's just me putting them in strange places when I get up to do something, they usually find their way back to me - even if it occasionally takes a day or two, I just grab another until it does. tlwFSDO.png Despite that I've managed to keep these same picks for the last 3 years.

I cannot help but be sceptical of future generations of My Little Pony, one person pondered what if technology were used instead of magic.

Technology is cool and all, but it has its limitations, limits that are not good. It cannot resurrect the dead, a feat impossible in real life for obvious reasons, and and while science is good at proving what happened in history, some evidence in history was destroyed, hence unsolved crimes.

I'd be in favour of an MLP G6 if it had some composite of the two, but having watched Friendship is Magic/G4 and going onto an MLP series that has none of that, is going to feel pretty jarring. The idea of having Unicorns which are mythological beings from European folklore, be without magic is going to feel very strange to me.

Yeah I already wasn't fond of G5's use of phones and influencer culture - felt too contemporary to me and clearly trying to be hip. FIM felt timeless in its setting and feeling like a fantasy universe was a big reason - I want to ponder other worlds, not experience more of the same of mine :|

and the obsession with technology has had negative effect on some people, there's a phenomenon called doom scrolling, known to contribute to increased stress and sleepless nights for people of different age groups. I'm not informed on all of the ins and outs of this however experts have told people that this is not healthy and that spending too long on social media each day can cause harm, also over exposure to blue light from displays can lead to problems like insomnia, this is why blue light filters are used to reduce (but not completely block as this is impractical) blue light reaching the retinas so that the brain can release melatonin during night hours.

Would people want that behaviour to be normalized in a fictional world like Equestria? not only does it carry these implications, it would be incredibly boring to watch Ponies blog each other on Facebook all day. Magic on the other hand keeps the sense of wonder in their fantasy world, magic isn't perfect, but it doesn't lead to negative behaviours I mentioned earlier, or the stupidity with situations like texting while driving. Yes, with the right application technology is a good thing, but when it is not used responsibly it can have devastating effects on people's lives.

Only tried to watch the first episode of Tell Your Tale when it first came out, the only redeeming factor was that the King of the Hill intro song fit almost perfectly over the top of it. gAKFSP0.png

Not a fan of the influencer/streamer culture and mobile phones either.

OKAY, I have a pitch, what about a phone that uses magic to work, it can take you anywhere or teleport anyone to you through pictures

Big fan of disengaging from social media and engaging with hobbies, nature, literally anything else because of this. Guilty of being online a lot myself but I do not have 'mainsteam' social media accounts - all of those just want your data, most commonly just to sell you stuff. But not limited to just that of course. Avoid Tiktok like the plague cos its format feels predatory and insulting to its own audience.

I could go on about doomscrolling - one one hand I appreciate knowing about social issues I wouldn"t have known about otherwise, but obviously without healthy coping mechanisms it can get out of hand mentally.

I mean that's kind of a reason why I wrote my MLP fan fiction, which is nowhere near finished yet but its a story about some souls getting reincarnated into alternate timeline Equestria. Of course just a fantasy, Bardo and Nirvana are Buddhist concepts, nothing more. But @Night Sky here agreed that these concepts fit the tone of Friendship is Magic at least in a fan fiction. Things like redemption, unity and pursuit of wisdom are still in both, it's just handled in a different way, and nobody treats MLP like a religion.

Giving up social media to me would be a small price to pay to exist in a fantasy world like that. I don't know what I would do instead however I cannot imagine it being Hell. Some people might consider it to be torture to exist in that fantasy world, but not me, I've already had a few other adults tell me the same. It would be liberating, we'd be encouraged to get out more, engage in healthier relationships with our friends and not stir up unnecessary drama behind other people's backs, the existence of magic in that fantasy world scenario would sweeten the deal, if used wisely.

I'd do it in a heartbeat. Equestria is a spiritually more elevated world than ours. They too have problems, but not hydrogen bombs, genocidal governments, killer viruses or environmental ruin. Our Earth is only an intermediate world. Hard to say where Equestria falls, but it is certainly above us. There's so much they can teach us.

I don't blame you, I'd do it too, on the condition I got to reunite with loved one's from a past life in Nirvana someday, but for that I would need to put some effort in my growth in that fantasy world scenario, same as everybody else, it cannot be a shallow reward, it has to be earned through consistent acts of kindness and maturity, and those acts have to be motivated by concern for others, not self gain.

I'm so sick of the world I am in, for the reasons you mentioned. Genocidal governments, the threat of nuclear war, climate change and division that leads to our human rights being trampled on. People just don't seem to learn from their mistakes either, the same problem that got Adolf Hitler elected, still exists now. So it's like, whatever, I'm so done with this world, unfortunately there is no afterlife, this is all we've got.

I do agree with you that if in a non existent scenario, we got our wish, if we could exist in that fantasy world, then my future would be becoming a Pegasi in FIM multiverse I don't know which type of Pony you would pick but really, it does not matter as long as your right to autonomy got respected, in my fan fiction, souls choose their destination of rebirth if approved by gatekeepers of that realm, Luna being a gatekeeper of her own domain.

Pegasi all the way. Taking rebirth as a creature which can fly is always a sign of advancement.
