If metal pennies are too expensive to make why don't they just make them out of something super cheap like recycled plastic?

Plastic Coins, 100 pennies

If I had to guess, probably because they'd get mistaken for coins or be easier to fake.

Why would anybody bother counterfeiting pennies?

The toy coins in the picture are probably literally worth one cent anyway.

Fair enough :jazz-hooves-please: Even if people did do that, it's not like they're really profiting! (Unless they somehow manage to get away with lots of fake pennies)

I'm thinking I may actually pay for a Disney Star Wars movie for the first time ever. :huh_sunny: The Mandalorian is the only live action thing I've liked since Disney took over and they scrapped the real canon. I like Din and Grogu is cute and they could actually fit into the predisney canon.

The cost of copper isn't helping. I don't know what has gone wrong to make the price of copper raise sharply but it is clearly a burden on us all. You know it would help if it were possible to manufacture this artificially like they do with diamonds, but it's not that simple unfortunately. You'd need a fusion reactor, and a cost effective one at that.

Much easier just to mine an asteroid. Pennies are mostly zinc now but inflation is hitting everything.

Does Equestria celebrate New Year’s Eve?

I would think so. They probably wouldn't have it on a random day like January 1 but on a solstice. I've always thought the Summer Sun Celebration was a solstice so maybe that's it.

Kublai Khan once pondered this very question during his reign over the Mongol Empire. He appointed a Semu official named Ahmad Fanakati,
who was notoriously skilled at squeezing wealth from the people — printing paper money wildly, raising taxes relentlessly, imposing state monopolies,
and forcing commoners into loan shark schemes. Later, he was killed by a Chinese monk with a copper war hammer.
Yet, the Mongol emperors remained obsessed with draining wealth through excessive paper currency, which became one of the reasons their rule collapsed so quickly...
