Rarity Paige Belle 1,854 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 Since the 'ponies' of Equestria don't look or act a thing like ponies, perhaps we should come up with a new name? Beautiful, Stylish, Fabulous AND evil! What more could you want? (Thanks Kyoshi for letting everyone use your sigs!)
Zhortac 1,475 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 But, Celestia has been calling them ponies for a thousand+ years...IT WILL RUIN THE NATURAL ORDER!!! 1 Feel free to add me on steam if you want to play something. Also don't be afraid to message and talk to me. I've had bad luck when I start a conversation, so I more then likely won't start one.
Champion RD92 8,658 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 I don't think there's anything wrong with calling them ponies, they're just a different kind of pony than the ones in our world
Hive King 2,001 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 Calling them Ponies with a capital "P" would avoid confusion, kind of like the Spider-Man Symbiotes "Aren’t we the same? You know, aren’t you carrying the same mindset as I am? Just because you couldn’t bear to lose, you lost your precious partner! You really call yourself a true duelist? You’re the complete opposite of that!" -Weevil Underwood
FluffyGoat13 376 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 They are Ponies not ponys, pwneez, poiniiz etc. (i haz long list) settled "I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." - Douglass Adams
Aerodynas 439 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 haha ML.......P....for a reason XD ponies ftw! "You have to establish the horizon. You have to mark the white. A simple enough act, you might say, but any act that re-makes the world is heroic. Or so I've come to believe."
Fluttershutter 2,952 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 Well since that's what they call themselves and that's the name of the show, yeah I think they should. But their species wouldn't be Equus Ferus. I'd suggest Equus Sapiens
Fhaolan 4,494 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 I try to make a habit of calling sentient beings what *they* call themselves. Renaming them because I find their nomenclature incorrect seems a bit like the 'Great White Hunter' and other stereotypical Imperialism arrogance to me. Reminds me of this: http://youtu.be/O1jG58nghRo

Fhaolan 4,494 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 @@Fhaolan, Call them pony with a capital P then, it would distinguish things Technically, we should be doing that anyway when we refer to Ponies as a distinct culture as we're using it as a proper noun. Real life ponies are a vaguely defined class of creatures, while Ponies are a specific unique group of entities.

That's actually officially part of the rules of Capitalization. One is a general class, while the other is a unique group. One of many seemingly pointless rules of the written English language.
