Strangely, Fluttershy actually has a lot of haters

It's because of that episode where Iron Will made her more assertive. I know that she made Rarity and Pinkie Pie cry, and she wasn't being influenced by Discord at the time, but I believe that Flutters is impressionable, and also, in the earlier episodes, she's trying to correct her friends but they don't hear her. She got upset because it seemed to her like her friends didn't listen to her most of the time, even though they didn't mean any harm, and just couldn't hear her because she didn't speak up. And after she learns her lesson in that episode, she is nothing but kind and cute, except when she needs to stand up against bullies. And she is the only one who wanted to give Discord a chance, everyone else was ready to use their elements on him.

 

I just don't get how so many people can be closed minded, and can't comprehend the term "plot convenience"

 

Edit: Also, in that breezies episode, she was only being mean to save them, until then, she was nothing but kind to them, even though she needed to motivate them to get going on their journey. She ends up realizing this, and in the end, she was the only one to cry tears of happiness that they were all reunited.

I dunno. I swear I've never met an especially vocal Fluttershy hater or even mild disliker. Except for myself, back when I was even more mired in social awkwardness and Fluttershy reminded me of myself so much it was uncomfortable and I detested her as a character for that. But besides me, I don't think I've ever met anyone holding a grudge against yellow pone.

Except for myself, back when I was even more mired in social awkwardness and Fluttershy reminded me of myself so much it was uncomfortable and I detested her as a character for that. Well that's it. The comments are old. It was probably people reacting in the spur of the moment to Flutterbihatch. A lot of people are Sagittarius like me, apparently.

Yeahh, but a select portion of RD's fanbase played a key-role in my time being anti-RD as well :okiedokielokie: Seriously, so many typoes and so much hatred against my best pony. She's also a tad bit overrated, in my opinion, which doesn't help FS's nor RD's case

 

In any case, none of the mane 6 deserve hatred. They're all great, good-hearted mares who will make mistakes but hardly ever have malicious intent; when they do, they always feel bad and try to make up for it. Mane 6 hatred is always dismissable, petty bullshit to me

I don't know why Fluttershy has so much hate. She's my best pony. I love her. There's no reason to hate her. I've seen people calling her pathetic and worthless and that she should die. It saddens me when I hear/see those things.Because none of those things are true. Does a pathetic pony stand up to a fire breathing dragon that could eat her for a snack? HELL NO!   

 

 

 

In "Putting Your Hoof Down" that wasn't really her. she was just taking Iron Will's advice the wrong way. She wasn't herself. Like if she had a better understanding, then maybe she wouldn't of been as mean in the episode. But I guess the writers wanted to show Fluttershy's alter ego(Which also came up in Power Ponies). Putting Your Hoof Down, is not really my fave Fluttershy episode, mainly because of the negativity surrounding that episode for Fluttershy hate.

 

 

But in Season 4, she's become more naturally assertive, especially noticeable in Filli Vanilli, when she's talking to Rarity.

 

 

Every character has haters....it just seems Fluttershy gets the most of it, for whatever reason.

Maybe the other people are irritated by her shyness. I, myself was irritated in an episode where the mane 6 had to stop a dragon from snoring because of her shyness and fear. It made disasters happen but after the episode was done, I was okay with Fluttershy. I don't hate her, it's just that sometimes her shyness is annoying.

Because hate is a more fulfilling emotion for some than positive emotions. Unfortunate that's where those people are in their lives, but like I can do shit about it.

 

And that might be a bit of bias coming into play. You probably search for more Fluttershai art than anything else, so you also notice more of the negative art of her than any of the remaining five.

Actually, "Putting Your Hoof Down" is one of my favorite Fluttershy episodes because of the way she takes the assertiveness training so far.  It actually made me like Fluttershy more.

I think the thing is that if some character action is seen as a plot convenience, people will take it out on both the character and the writers, thus contributing to the hate. Take Spike for instance.  He's starting to plummet in my character rankings because not only has he been depicted as anything in between the "butt monkey" to "plain incompetent fool" role this season, especially in "It Ain't Easy Being Breezies" for causing the Breezies's breeze to be disrupted.  Ideally, only the writers would get my hate for that, but since it's been part of a trend, it seems like such abuse the only thing that Spike is good for.

 

Granted, the example of Spike doesn't quite work for Fluttershy, as certain stupid/offensive actions of hers are not part of some trend, but I can see that for some people, if Fluttershy acts so bad once, it can ruin their character forever and can color whatever future episodes they see of her.  Still, the hate can't be necessarily be pinned on one episode: some people just hate shyness and believe that she's too much of a wuss and too impressionable. Perhaps they are also those who didn't want Discord reformed and believed she should have been right on the side of her friends.  Perhaps they are also those who felt that the Breezies should have been left for dead for being so irrational as Pseudo-Natural Darwinism^TM would condemn them.  And they may be the same people who don't like the whole "Flutterbat" thing at all (although "Bats!" really was a great episode for her and showcased much of the development she has had before then).  Lots of factors go into hating Fluttershy.

It was the bit where the other 5 are walking around Fluttershy saying "Stop the bats" and someone put in text saying something about killing Flutters, "Kill the bitch and cut her throat" or something similar. I was kinda shocked when I seen it.

I've seen more Rarity hate than anything else, and of course it's because I look up her fanart all the time

 

I used to be deeply bothered by it. Like, seriously, it hurt me to see.

 

My skin got a bit thicker, though, and now I just laugh at it; if I feel the person isn't an idiot that's just trying to troll, I white knight for Rarity, pretty much. If the person's a troll, I just dismiss them and troll back.

 

Seriously, I was in a togethertube room with a few friends one time and this one dude walks in there and starts trying to troll me by saying all these negative things about Rarity. All I did in response was tell him to get the fuck out of my room, no one wants him here, and he should kill himself, and every time he'd say "lol, someone's mad" I'd say "Dude, stop assuming things, we're just messing around. Stop taking things so seriously and learn to take a joke." He wasn't a very good troll, since he got flustered so easily.

 

Of course, I didn't actually feel that way about him, but when it comes to trolls, you have to fight fire with fire.

 

 

Bah. I'm just rambling at this point. In any case, stand up and do something about it rather than sit there and passively take the beating

Some hate art, I do laugh at, be it horribly done, or it being rather amusing. I'm getting better at it. I'm used to being trolled in video games and I just ignore it. I'm also used to troll videos of general anti-brony stuff. But  recently I've started to get better with dealing with hate art, some of it just catches me off guard. I don't get mad or angry. I tend to just get a queasy feeling, depending on the content of the hate art....usually gore. Oh Celestia that just reminded me of a pic of Flutters I seen yesterday....time for brain bleach.
