Are G1 Ponyland and G4 Equestria the same place?

I've been in bed with the flu the past few days so I've been reliving my childhood by watching episodes of G1 and it got me thinking, is Ponyland and Equestria the same place, or even in the same dimension?

Even if they are different generations, maybe there is a connection at least. But since they are different in more ways than one, they can't be the same even when they are in the same world.

 

G4 had some villains that were inspired by G1, but they must be alternate.

Yes and no the characters in g4 are inspired by the original also many of the characters are very different along with spikes origin paving him as a villain 1st.

I think they are just alternates of each other.They both share a common base universe, but they are divergent timelines, thus the alternate stories, and the difference in certain flora and fauna.

Well let's see. Pinkie Pie owns the bakery in the older gens, while the Cake family owns it in g4 and she just happens to work there. So I'm thinking either it's a different dimension, or it's set way in the future. Maybe Pinkie Pie is a descendant of the older Pinkie Pie?

 

Still, there's one thing that bugs me. The theory of how the flutter ponies became the changelings. Maybe I should find a way to ask Lauren Faust of what she thinks on the matter, although they might bring back the Flutter Ponies anyway, since they're bringing back the Sea Ponies, and they already brought back the Breezies.

 

Edit: Alternate timeline is plausible as well.

I'd say different universes.  Like way way back before 1985 in dc there was an earth 1 and an earth 2.  Both earths had, for example, a flash and green lantern, but both were different characters.   Like there is a g1 Applejack and Spike, though they are not the same characters.  As well as the g4 rainbowdash does not always dress in style.

At least in Turnabout Storm, the G1 and G3 Ponies are mentioned as being across the sea from G4 Equestria.

IF the G1 & G4 ponies are in the same universe, the G1 ponies are pre Discord.  They are probably thousands or even 10s of thousands years in the past.  So long that even the legends have been lost.  Like in Donaldsen's novels about Thomas Covenant, they are so far apart that the rules of magic have changed.

 

Just off hand, I remember ponies were born w cutie marks (The New Born Twins) & all unicorns could T port, but only a short distance (called winking)

I do not think that both are the same place as they both look a lot different and I think that they are 2 alternate dimensions.

I just think that every Generation is connected to each other. Thats how i see every franchise ever.

 

Its just an older time.

 

In G1 the town is very small and consists in the beginning of just one castle. In G1.5 after Megan probably showed the ponys how her world works, the ponys built a town based on the humans world and ponyland grows.

In G2, the wing ponys even got their own land, probably to keep things in order and not just have all the ponys in one place. Maybe they got inspired by the Flutter Ponys which had their own land to keep everything in order. Thats also supported by the fact that in g 1.5 the wing ponys are only seen as a legend.

In g3 it is even further supported that the different pony races split up at some point, since they find each other back after a long time, showing that the ponys even forgot they split up and lived together once.

After they found each other back and realized that with more friends, life is just more fun they reunite all the different kingdoms and let different pony races life in all the places.

And since G4 has all the different ponyraces in one place but still also has special towns and kingdoms for them suggest that my theory could be wright.

 

And for the inspired by G1 thing, for some characters that already appeared like Applejack ( G1 ) or Rarity ( G3 ) it could just be coincidence that they are named similar.

Like we humans. So yes, i think that the G1 Ponyville and Equestria play in the same place.

For the different Gen Designs : Its just Evolution ! Thats why different gens look different also like we humans once, but thats just a Theory !
