~~~~Intro~~~~

Hello all, and welcome to the official reboot of Asylum! I first started this story a couple months back, I think, under the name BlackShardNixium. Since you're reading this, I should hope that means you're interested in becoming a part of the story! Asylum: Stage One ((AKA Shudder)) is only the first in a multi-chaptered RP ((a trilogy, to be exact)). The storyline was crafted from my love of all things arcane and mystic, as well as the works of H.P Lovecraft and the popular podcast Welcome to Night Vale. Unlike most of my other RPs, there will NOT be a set player limit. However, there WILL be a limited amount of time in which people can apply. Any one person can join as multiple characters, or stick with just one. However, you must be committed to ALL characters you submit; don't pay special or an extra amount of attention on one because you favor them or are too busy with them. I'd like for all of them to be involved. Enjoy!

 

 

~~~The Setting~~~

It's so...dark... here. The shadows are just so...so real. You've never really taken the time to just stop and look, really look, at a shadow until now. You suppose that's why you've never noticed how empty everything about it is. Its darkness; suffocating, writhing nothing. Looking into a shadow is like gazing into the void. There's nothing there; no god, no creator, has touched this place. There is nothing here; not even death. You rest in a silent tear in reality, in your mind; numb....emotionless.

And yet... you remember. You were here for a reason...but what? It was...an expedition! Wasn't it? And there were others with you...friends?? You suppose. Where are they? Where had they gone? Were they in the darkness, too? You remember...fear; absolute panic. Images are flashing in your mind. Yes; there were others with you. You can't remember their names! A discovery had been made. You remember excitement; happiness. The memories are blurry now. Your friends...why are they screaming? There's red everywhere. Somepony has died. No! Somepony's been murdered! You remember...you...you...

Oh Celestia.

What have you done?!

You have to find the others! Get out or die trying! No pony else must find this place!

The mirrors...there's something moving inside the mirrors.

 

 

~~~Your Character:~~~

As you probably could have guessed in the Setting, your character is trapped someplace dark and separated from the other players. Suffering a mild case of amnesia, your character must successfully find the other players and make your escape, recovering lost memories along the way. Exactly how you do that is up to you as a player. Once all your memories are fully restored, there is more awaiting you and your character as the story continues.

 

 

~~~The Rules:~~~

  • NO godmodding/powerplaying.
  • Respect your fellow participants
  • Respect the DM and/or other people of authority
  • No OP characters, please!
  • Alicorns can participate BUT ONLY on the condition that you FIRST submit them to me for review. From there, we will discuss tamping down your OC's powers to help them fit more cleanly into the story.
  • Follow all MLP Forum rules.
  • Keep it civil in the OOC
  • In an effort to keep this RP from dying, please commit to submitting at least ONE to TWO posts a day.
  • Message me/warn me in advance if you are going to be absent for an extended period of time.
  • Consequently, if you are absent for 5 days with out warning, you will be placed on probation. If you are absent for 10 or more days without warning, you will be removed from the OP and will be given one day to prove to me you are committed and reclaim your spot. If all else fails, you will be removed from the RP completely.
  • Be prepared to be in it for the long haul. This is a multi-chaptered RP.
  • If you've read through and agree to these rules, please write "Asylum" in your application post to show you understand. If you don't, I will know you have not read the rules and will turn down your application.

I will have to find a new character to play as- I am unsure if you still want Lord Inquisitors and Demon Hunters in the roleplay. Hmm...

 

I knew I wasn't crazy when I saw this.

 

So, if you will reserve a slot for me while I hunt for a character, that would be nice. :)

 

Also, might I assist you once again? I'm sorry that the last one flopped... :(

Huh, at least it means I've got a little free time. Now I can apply for Asylum.

 

So, I'm only going to apply to play as a single character: I don't want to commit to more than one and get swamped under since i have other roleplays going that will hopefully pick up again. On that note though, I'm not sure who would be most fitting, so I'll link the two I'm thinking of...

I've just read Silvia's bio. A writer, someone who loves stories and fantasy tales? If Bardic gets accepted he's never going to shut up...

A bit of perspective if it helps: Bardic is loosely based on D'n'D Bards but with additional focus on the 'magical' part of the class. A reader, storyteller and researcher, who casts spells through music and speech.

 

Eclipse is... kind of like a grey knight. A battlemage, not a bad guy by any means, but his dedication and duty always comes first and he's willing to make sacrifices if they are logically the best option.

Hi Starry, glad to see your back and restarting this RP. (Sorry if you don't recognize me Danz from the original^^) I remember dropping out of this rp (along with others - _ -) at the time because of school; but i'm happy to say that I have a lot more time on my hands now, and i would love to join again. If you'll have me?

Welcome back, friend! ^-^ I'm glad you've returned! Muddle is certainly a unique character and I think both her and her Shadow will make things interesting... :3 I'll add you down to the OP with the others now.
