Welcome.

You are a member of a hand-picked group of mercenaries hired by the Alliance to take part in a secret operation. Transport to and from the location has been arranged, and you are currently travelling in a small frigate along with your other squad mates. The planet you are going to is Joab, a medium sized jungle planet covered in rainforest. Details of your operation will be given to you by the squad leader when he feels the time is right. You are in no way shape or form a recruit of the Alliance. You will take any measures necessary to complete your mission.

--- Rules ---

1. Try not to be overpowering in your combat. Taking hits to your shields should be something regularly done. For the sake of story, also try to injure yourself in places where it'll be the most difficult to recover

2. Keep OOC within double brackets ((Like this))

3. Ask a GM to roll for loot when you want to loot a body, or a container (Will explain later)

4. Overpowering characters will be given a warning, and if you do not calm down, then I will kick you from the RP. We're here to have some fun, and live out a storyline I have prepared

LOOTING

When you come across a container or a body that you want to steal stuff off of (You can only do this every so often at the GM's discretion), then a roll will be given of a die. If the number is a multiple of 5, then you receive the item that you or the team needs. Anything else and you get a random item.

 

Requests to loot will follow as such: ((GM I want to loot this container for a better rifle than I have))

ROLES

Before you pick your equipment, you need to pick a role in the squad. Currently we have:

Hacker/Tech expert- Skilled at slicing, hardware and software interaction.

Scout- Lightly armoured stealthy marksman

Medic- Responsible to keep the holes in your body to a minimum.

Explosives/Heavy weapons- Blow shit up

Rifleman- Unspecialized but mandatory member of the team. Your responsibility is to keep the squad alive against any enemy.

 

CLASSES

Before you begin this RP, you must pick a starting class.

Adept (Biotic)

Soldier (Combat)

Engineer (Tech)

Vanguard (Biotic/Combat)

Sentinel (Tech/Biotic)

Infiltrator (Combat/Tech)

If your class is a biotic pick 1 biotic ability

If your class is tech pick 1 tech ability

If your class is combat pick 1 combat ability

If your class is mixed pick 1 of either class

You will 'level up' as we continue through the RP, and I will tell you when you can claim another ability.

EQUIPMENT

You are only allowed tech 1 equipment to begin, and as you explore in the RP you will find better equipment. Equipment based on your role that you have selected will be given to you at the start. (ie medic will get a device to help him/her heal ponies)

All members are outfitted with light armour to begin with.

All soldiers chose one primary weapon and a sidearm. You can chose either an assault rifle, a shotgun, marksman rifle, submachine gun, or a second sidearm.

All weapons that can be looted will be ME3 Multiplayer weapons.

Tech Expert: will be given a computer interface device, and full control over the squad's armour functions.

 

Scout: will be given a cloaking field that can render one invisible for short amounts of time. Shadows are still visible, and sound is still normal.

 

Medic: will be given a medi-gel applicator. Is the only squad member that can revive incapacitated members.

 

Explosives: will be given triggered explosives and a detonator. Only member able to use and disarm explosives.

 

Rifleman: will be given access to a small array of combat stimulants.

Appearance: Grey mane that is usually always up or tucked in some manner. Deep blue fur and purple eyes.

Backstory: A mare who grew up fighting in the Alliance Navy, discharged herself from the armed forces after a mission in deep space against a group of Batarian terrorists. Her reasons for leaving are buried in Alliance records. Her whereabouts after her discharge are spotty but most records indicate she spent a lot of her time in the lower levels of the Citadel.

(Keep your backstory short. We'll learn all about you in the thread. However please do have a very VERY good idea on your character's backstory before going in. Personal histories are going to matter A LOT in this thread. Make your application short but sweet so I can tell you know what you're doing.)

The thread will begin when we have at least 4 ponies and there is nobody on standby (put in an application that I have not looked at yet.)

--- Combat ---

Combat will be done on in a semi-turn based system. Either you or I (as the GM) will initiate combat in any given scenario. When you are fighting, you will describe how you engage the enemy and I will reply with the result of your attempt to deal damage to your foes. If I am obviously not present to oversee combat, you are allowed to resolve it yourself. Please be fair. If I think that you are being a bit too valourous then you will pay for it later.

A mass effect RP without any of the Mass effect aliens? That's like having a car without an engine. I would love to join if it included the vast array of alien species in the mass effect universe, but this doesn't feel like mass effect at all.

If you would like to play as a non-pony race that is perfectly acceptable. If at all possible play as the closest canon pony race to the ME race as you can (ie Zebras are like Asari, Griffons are close to turians, yatta yatta.)

If you would like to play as a non-pony race that is perfectly acceptable. If at all possible play as the closest canon pony race to the ME race as you can (ie Zebras are like Asari, Griffons are close to turians, yatta yatta.)

It's a pony crossover for a reason. I'm fine if you want to hybrid, for example the griffons with Krogan values, then that'd work. Also in order to RP your character needs to be in the character database which I'm pretty sure only allows canon MLP races.

It would be a whole lot better if you let the actual alien races that make the game great into the rp. Otherwise, this might as well not be mass effect at all.

I've done this RP several times before, and nobody else was complaining. If you really feel that strongly about it then I can't help you.

Yeah the active participation of all members of the group is pretty much required if you don't want to be killed. If you are able to get to a computer on a consistent basis for the first part I would be happy to murder you when you're no longer able to participate.

Everything looks good for you! Keep in mind that you do have a cloaking field that will render you invisible. However you are still audible and attentive enemies will see your shadow.

Appearance: pink and red hair, red eyes, white coat. Is very jumpy.

Backstory: pushed by her father to "fight for the greater good", Righty Tighty became a footsoldier in the alliance. During a routine sabotage mission in [DATA EXPUNGED] in the Horsehead Nebula, her skills in the field of hacking and reverse engineering were shown as her unit came under attack and were besieged for 2 weeks, cut off from all Alliance help. Righty managed to rig makeshift traps and reverse engineer enemy weapons for allied use, holding out long enough for Alliance teams to finally swoop in and rescue the beleaguered unit.

Denied several commendations and promotions as the deaths of her comrades weighed heavily on her. She quit shortly after, only to become an underpaid mercenary to still "fight for the greater good".

Definitely a follower and not a leader, tends to work faster under pressure.

There was never much question of what Gladius was going to do with his life, although that's not to say it isn't what he wanted. Fiercely loyal and filled with a strong sense of duty, everyone was surprised when he ended up leaving the alliance for a mercenary company. His thinking had been at the time, and still is, that he could be of more use as a member of an elite mercenary team than as a rank and file soldier.

Hmm... I've experimented with posting orders, but not with schedules. 3-6 EST is basically my free time with weekends being the exception.
