For all you gaming ponies out there that saw my Horrible Bosses thread:

Worst video game boss ever. Go.

HORRIBLE = *one that you could NOT BEAT, died a lot before you did beat them, or rage quit the game because that boss* (regardless of the issue. tech issue. in game mechanics. what made that boss so horrible that you can remember it to this day.)

Shadow of the Colossus. Final Boss.

Do you mean horrible as in "un beatable and broken" or horrible as in "this wasn't a boss fight, it was a QTE"?

Because if we are going for the latter, the fight with the Didact at the end of Halo 4 wins hands down. That whole "boss fight" was "press x to not die"

Define "horrible". Cuz if we're talking about just ones that I hate to fight Imma have to go with Ornstein & Smough in Dark Souls (the only boss besides the final one I can't solo)

Giacomo, Ayme and Folon in Baten Kaitos are also pretty douchey. The final fight with them is incredibly tough and then you have to fight them again, even stronger than before, with no chance of healing between the two fights. :(

In general, just a really crappy boss. Whether it was tech. issues. In game mechanic issues. ETC. a boss that gives you nightmares. XD

I did hate fighting Eugene in Infamous: Second Son, since he always had his angels casting a shield over him to protect him and he got really annoying when the fight dragged on for a while. Another fight in particular, was fighting Brooke Augustine, she was an annoyance.

Then I would have to suggest every boss fight in any "modern military shooter" game. Every single last one is just "mash X to not die!!!!111one"

Well, I already said it, but I'm sayin it again!  GOW II, Theseus, Titan Mode.

So Shadow of the Colossus has a notoriously hard boss?  I bought that game, but I've never played it.  I'm actually saving it for a rainy day when I'm living in some tentament, flat broke, eating cold beans out of a can over the sink, no internet, no steam, can't afford a new game, then I'll pull out my old faithful PS2 and pop in Shadow of the Colossus.  Tough bosses don't scare me.  Come at me, bro.

The final boss for SotC on HARD MODE was ridiculously annoying. You had to climb this colossal massive beast that squirmed every .5 seconds, and when you jumped in between the arms, you were always being threatened by your stamina running out and falling to your death.

No, but on most of them I just wrote a macro script to play those parts of the game for me.

Ah, there ya go. Smart. Sad that you had to tho. XD

I never finished SotC on hard mode cuz I never got past the snake Colossus. The one that digs underground and chases you on Agro.

Oh that guy needed a good arrow to the eye. He was a pain though. Agro never wanted to run straight. Freaking drunk horse.

F*cking, Orstein and Smough.

Everyone above me who posted anything but these two buttmunchers haven't played Dark Souls.

In a game like Dark Souls, bosses are already ridiculously hard to kill.

But these two....

Ornstein wields a lighting spear and dashes in a blink of an eye from place to place, and throws near-insta kill lighting bolts at you with unwavering accuracy (unless you have a high Faith and Intelligence stat, lighting is your default greatest weakness).

Smough is a big fat son of a b*tch who wields a ginormous hammer and has no flinching animation, coupled with the fact that his only weakness is lighting, the rarest weapon type in the game.

Alone, these two are very formidable bosses...but remember I said "and"...

Yes, friends. YOU HAVE TO FIGHT BOTH. AT THE SAME TIME.

AND, THE TREK YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH TO GET THERE IS GUARDED BY THE TOUGHEST NONBOSS ENEMIES IN THE GAME.

Not only that, but if you kill one of these buttholes, the other one digivolves into a stronger version, and gets FULL HEALTH.

These two are the only bosses I DREAD encountering in this grueling game...

That tells you something.

The way you describe these two bosses reminds me of the mini-bosses in Elder Scrolls Online. Some of them are just wicked hard to kill, or perhaps the system is broken. IDK. But that... No! lmao Nope.

I disagree about the trek to them. The enemies are easy to aggro into one-on-one fights and a good shield (and proper stamina usage) takes all of their blows. It's also easy to trick their AI into doing a certain attack that leaves them wide open from behind for two-handed jump attacks and whatnot.

Even the royal guards have this same issue, you just have to watch out for their miracles and even the healing miracle gives you a massive opportunity for killing them if they have low enough health.

Oreo & S'mores are definitely the hardest boss in the game though. I never go in without Solaire.

IT GETS WORSE! Dx

When Smough digivolves, he crushes Ornstein with his hammer and gains electric powers AND an immunity to lighting damage.

He also gains an instakill AOE attack in which he jumps and sits if you get within melee distance, releasing a very wide electrical current from his anus that kills you if you're within 2 rolls.

Ornsteins digivolution is that he prays over Smough and grows into Smough-size while retaining all of his powers and his speed, and causes all of his attacks to be an almost guaranteed kill if you don't block, and drains all of your stamina if you do.

I find it's so much easier to deal with Lightning Smough than it is Giant Ornstein though. At least with Smouth you can take advantage of the pillars, broken or otherwise, to keep his dashing attack from hitting you. Plus in most cases you can roll into his belly to stay away from most of his swings which leaves him open for attacks.

I play it without the patch, those guys were nerfed considerably to make them a bit easier: something I can't enjoy. ;~;

I hAve to take my time and throw sung pies so they die of toxic before doing a summon, otherwise Solaire gets f*cked up by the giants and I have to do it all over again...

I don't think I've played the game without a patch so maybe there were some balance issues. I wouldn't think there'd be too much of a difference though.

It definitely is...

At least Smoughs dumb a$$ doesn't realize he's stuck most of the time.

I usually bring all my Dragon weapons and use the shock wave attacks until they run out and I'm forced to take potshots at him.

The struggles of a low-INT tank... xD

While not quite horrible, the bosses from Deus Ex: Human Revolution are definitely lackluster. Compared to the rest of the game, their battles retain none of the sense of freedom to fight on your terms. Did you go for a bunch of stealth or hacking augs? The first boss, Barrett, renders those choices moot. It's a case of poor design in an otherwise strong game.
