Tell Me Your Opinion on "The Clop"

I'm writing a paper about bronies for my English 2010 class as someone who isn't a part of your community. One of the biggest issues I've run across when talking about my paper to people who've looked into the fandom is that of "The Clop," or Pony Porn. The existence of such art seems to have put off many a person, and I'm wondering what your opinion is.

 

As this is a more sensitive subject than my previous topics, I have created a poll with private voting instead of asking people to post their opinions publicly. However, if you are comfortable talking about this with me, you are more than welcome to post here or send me a PM.

Adult pony content shouldn't be something people make such a deal about. If you accept that people draw adult content of things like Pokemon and The Simpsons, but you get absolutely livid over anyone doing the same to FiM, you're overreacting.
It's staple Rule 34 - If it exists, there's porn of it. No exceptions.

It baffles me as to how people make such a massive deal over it, when it should be common knowledge that it exists.
As for me, I evidently don't have a problem with it. MANY people view adult content, and each and every one of them has a different preference. Some prefer videos, whilst others are more content with images. Some people do not like real pornography, and others only enjoy drawn content.

Bar the obligatory snuff, rape, and CP(and others not mentioned), there is nothing outstanding regardless of what format the adult content is. I know people who get their kicks out of adult content that is completely nonsensical. Things like crazy creatures, and multiple genitals in places they normally are not. But who cares? That's what get's their socks off, and that's perfectly fine. Not my thing, but nothing worth degrading them over.
Colourful equines is really nothing different. At all.

This is a pretty fine line on what to go over in English class, but be prepared for a backlash against you should you bring up the darker aspects of something your class is unfamiliar with. I don't think that's the way to pass a class.

 

It's like bringing up all the stereotypes of a certain culture and putting that in an essay, which is in a form fuels flames of a group that is already marginalized. Be careful on this topic as it isn't really accepted in mainstream groups.

I want to cover as much of the brony fandom as I can. Like it or not, clopping is part of the fandom, and so into the paper it goes.

 

My professor told me about some topics students have done in the past, and believe me, clopping is actually pretty tame compared to some other projects. I think I'll be fine ^^

But the OP does not mention these things. It'd be better off if the OP discusses Rule 34 instead of marginalizing a single fandom then. He's not discussing Pokemon or the Simpsons.

Unfortunately, this is how most of the people I've talked to view bronies: as men who watch the show and are into clopping (er, as one person put it, "dudes who want to do things to cartoon ponies.")

 

It is my goal in addressing this topic to dispel this stereotype. I wouldn't bring it up if I didn't think it was important.

I have absolutely no problem with it. I do have a problem with the name though.

It implies that there's something different about it from "regular" porn.

Even if they are cartoon horses, they're still cartoons first and foremostt.

It's not as "odd" or "dusturbing" as if you fapped to anime or summat (which, according to some, is still weird).

 

Besides, there will always be porn of anything as long as the internet gets a hold of it, no excuses, that's rule 34 of the internet. You're gonna have to cope with it if you wanna stay here longer.

I hate all porn/adult content in general, so it goes the same for clop. However, if porn HAS to exist, I think that using cute and colorful ponies makes it...not as bad? Lol

It kinda bothers me to think that it exists, especially since a lot of it is made by people who don't like it but want to piss other people off with its existence. But I really try not to let it bother me.

 

It seems likes since clop has been associated with Bronies, anti-Bronies and people who don't get what we're about cling to it as a reason to keep making us seem like weirdos.

And people who enjoy clop, it's their choice and it's ok for them to like whatever they want, but I can't help but feel like it doesn't make our community as a whole look any better to outsiders since we do have actual cloppers.

But again, if someone likes clop it's totally their business. Everyone is different when it comes to sexual preference and I can't judge someone for their own.

I don't mind or have a problem with it, I've seen a lot of scary or mature things in my life and porn is not one of them. Anyway, we don't have to be associated with clopping at all, but it's okay if you do that.

From what I know of cloppers, they aren't trolling, they're genuinely aroused by ponies. They're also completely harmless: they seem to have no interest in having sex with real world ponies (which look very different than the ones on the show) and it has nothing to do with pedophilia.

 

I can't get into it personally, but it isn't all that weird because the ponies on the show have many human charactaristics including very expressive faces and well developed personalities. So it's kind of easy to stop viewing them as animals and start viewing them as people after awhile.

 

Also we've had fan campaigns to flag NSFW things found on Google Image Search, and it seems to be very successful really. It's really pretty hard to accidentally find pony porn on Google.

I believe the problem arises in MLP being, primarily, a children's show, and I'm sure that if I brought this topic up in a Pokemon forum I would receive the same reaction. That people have created pornography out of The Simpsons is one thing, as it is an adult show directed at adults. That pornography has been created out of children's shows, and that my little sister can easily find it simply by looking up "Pinkie Pie" on Google is another thing entirely.

 

I don't really mind that people view pornography; that's their decision. But it just seems... different when it's pornography drawn from a children's cartoon.

Simply, pornography of anything and everything is typical human nature. It's more likely than not that something or somethings appeal to you in a sexual manner, and some people have broad tastes, and so on and so forth. Clop is just, you know, a natural conclusion of a naturally human thing. Of course, morality possibly comes into play, but morality is ultimately a subjective thing. If you're alright with clop, alright. If you're not, don't rag on those who enjoy it. I personally find some 'enjoyment' in it, because I'm generally just very open sexually.

If your teacher is cool with it though, a really well written paper on why there is pony porn would probably be way more educational and interesting than just one on bronies.

I agree with previous comments on the fact that there is literally porn of EVERYTHING.  That's essentially what rule34 is; "if it exists, there is porn of it."  I know of a popular fursuit maker in the furry community that gets off on.. inflation.  That's right, people or anthropomorphic animals blown up like balloons or extremely oversized.  Nobody seems to think that's weird at all. (I personally think it's odd but at the same time am not one to judge someone for what they like sexually as long as it doesn't hurt anybody. I could really care less; that goes for cloppers as well.)

I suppose since the brony subject is a touchy one for close-minded people to begin with, the fact that cloppers EXIST gives them more of a reason to fuel their hatred.

Looking at the track record of our site's attempts at having discussions regarding clop (and these four are not it, there are more, I'm just too lazy to list them all when I'm just using them to make a point), every single time a clop discussion has been made, every result ended in either petty arguements or the discussion ends up containing NSFW material in of themselves. The staff has gotten to the point where clop discussion in general is more or less banned, with very few exceptions of 'wait and see how it goes' sliding through, anymore.

 

Sorry to spoil everyone's fun premptively, but I'm afraid this is what happens when people prove time and time again that they can't get along when it comes to specific topics :3
