Here's a remix I just finished last night.

It's a nature ensemble remix of "Music in the Treetops"

Critique is wanted!

I really like the trills and scalic runs from the woodwinds and piano, as well as the switch from the dense, flowing instrumentation to the open and jaunty bass about 2/3's through. It added the perfect amount of contrast. I think the piece would have been overall too busy without it; it brings a nice little breath of fresh air.

You probably do want to watch the density of textures. You have a lot going on at once! It works well stylistically here and I don't suggest changing this piece at all, but it's just a general observation. (It you wrote a symphony with that level of complexity in each part, it'd be a little overwhelming!) It probably has something to do with the digital instruments as well. Each part would sound far more distinct played by a real orchestra, and I may not be making that critique if I heard it played live. =)

I'm honestly reminded a bit of the original Kingdom Hearts soundtrack. I think it's the oboe on melody, haha. What program did you use to make this, if you don't mind my asking? (If it's Sibelius, I'll eat my foot.)

I used Finale 2012 to make this. And yes, I have so many different patterns. I've got triplets on the first violins, some walking eighths and quarters on the second violins and a mix of quarters and halves on the violas, and mostly halves and wholes on the cellos and basses, making sure they harmonized and didn't have that blurred effect.

Thanks for the critique!

The thing is, I like all genres of music. The problem I have with electronic music is that there's too much repetition and hardly any room for free expression, which is why I like classical and other similar genres.

I can probably make a classical piano and violin cover out of it or even fuse it, but as far as my piece, I feel that classical fit it perfectly.

idk, maybe its the instruments? Just not something i listen to a lot so it was something different i suppose which is good. Do you have Kontakt?

If not get it coz someone like you who likes making orchestral type music would really benefit from it. :)

Trust me man, the unlimited sample library of Kontakt will bring your visions to a whole new light. Judging from this song i think you're awesome and id love to hear what you could do with the likes of The Giant or even any number of 8dio's products. :squee:

You just need to do some automation fades on some of the instruments. Other than that, the piece sounds good

Automation fades? I can't edit any of the individual instruments because they are part of an individual VST known as Garritan.

Export the individual tracks as a .wav file and reimport into your DAW

You should be able to fade it back in. I hope you can do it with Finale, but if not, get a new one like Logic. Get something geared for your use.

@@TheJournalisticBrony,

Actually, I can extract the individual parts, by soloing them in the mixer. I can load them up in Audacity and see what I could do there.
