Dubstep WIP

Shred Guitar Brony

Recommended Posts

Hi guys! :D

This is a little something I've been working on for the past week or so. It's still a work in progress at the moment, but I'm hoping to finish it in the next couple weeks.

Any negative feedback would be greatly appreciated especially related to the mixdown. :)

It's okay.

The piano sounds very stale, not really a good sample. Dial in a chorus or a flanger to give it some warmth Reduce the repetition of certain notes, and even make them arrpegiated chords. This way, you'll have more varience.

I would also suggest to add some sweeping white noises just before the entrance of the first percussive phrase. Also, maybe adding some small one-way sweeping wubs at that first light percussive area would lessen some of the staleness of the piano.

In the wubby section, perhaps group the wubs so that there are no breaks in between, kinda like what Skrillex does when he makes dubstep. Those breaks make it sound awkward and takes away some of that dubstep feel.

Your mastering could use some work as well. There's too much high-end. Add some low-end so those wubs could really stand out. Every genre has something that stands out. In Dubstep, the wubs are what stand out.

All in all, it could use a lot of work

Thankyou for the honest feedback Thunder Dash, it really helps.

The piano sound is coming from a stock cubase synth, so its definately not the most realistic sounding emulation. I will try livening it up with some chorus and a flanger though as you suggested! :D

As for the master I will see if I can get some more low end in the final thing, so thanks for pointing that out to me.
