Yes, it and the Poniverse system MLPF is a part of are wholly owned by @@Feld0 as I understand it.

 

Though the question is a bit odd, because what's the alternative? What exactly is a public forum? Every internet forum out there is 'owned' by someone one way or another. They've all got someone's name (or company name) attached to them somehow.

Ownership - MLP Forums is a privately owned and operated domain, yes. 

Data security - We do not share your personal identifiable data to 3rd parties. 

Browsing - Your posts and profile are (depending on where you post) are completely public.

i get tons of adverts related to my searches, that's not very secrete at all, also get adverts right near my postcode too.

 

also can mods see private messages or are they not 'private' in that sense?

Unless we are discussing programming languages I stay away from semantics. A reported PM is not shared publicly ... thus still private.
