My Little Pony A New Generation

The Animation I thought the animation and pony designs were great.  But I really thought the pony mecha Sprout built could have been more interesting. A giant steampunk pony robot, how cool could that have been? One thing bugged me. That was that cutie marks were only on their right flank. Hopefully they fix that for the series   Voice Acting The voice acting was really good too. I wonder if these celebrity voice actors will stick around for the show though. I hope Alphabit

Time travel response.

Here is a companion piece to @PawelS ‘s blog on time paradoxes   He mentions the idea of a consistent time loop. This is the idea that if you go back in time and perform an action, that action was “destined to happen,” and therefore isn’t a paradox. The opposite of this is, of course, a paradox. The classic example being that you kill your grandfather before you are born, so how can you be born to go back in time to kill your grandfather?                               One solutio

How to Solve the Time Loop Paradox

In principle, physics doesn't forbid traveling back in time. We don't have the technology to do it, but maybe someday we will. But what about the paradoxes it causes? Well, if you go back in time and, for example, land in a distant galaxy where you don't do anything that would contradict what you already know about that place, then there is no problem. The paradox arises when you create a time loop, which means a closed chain of cause and effect. Now, if the time loop is consistent, then th

MLP Season 9 (and show as a whole) Retrospective

This probably should've come out two days ago but WHOOPS.   WEAK SEASON   So let's get this out of the way: The story arc in this season sucked. This show proved in the previous two seasons that it sucks at story arcs and this season changed nothing. I'll go into more detail in my bottom 5, but for now let's talk about the episodes in between. Since this was the last season, it had the responsibility of either wrapping up story arcs or simply ending things for the

Episode 85 - Packaging That Ruins the Product

Hey.  Y'know what really grinds my gears?  Packaging that damaging the freakin' product.  I just bought a brand new PS4 game at Game Stop (new as in not pre-owned).  The case had one of those clear stickers over the side that opens.  You know how they always do that, to seal it and lock it closed until you get it home and peel the sticker off, y'know?  Well, I peeled the sticker off and it left this horrendous, thick, sticky, gummy crap all over the case!  This time I was able to clean it off re

Roller Coaster of the Day #3 Swamp Fox @ Family Kingdom

The Swamp Fox is a wooden roller coaster built by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company (PTC for short). It is located at Family Kingdom in Downtown Myrtle Beach. It is a figure 8 wooden coaster that despite its age, continues to thrill guests to this very day. It was built in 1966.    Stats Height: 72ft Length: 2,640ft Top Speed: 50mph Ridden: Yes Review: Swamp Fox is a fun and classic woodie. Despite its size, this coaster has some good airtime, and with the buzz ba

I'm so happy I made this.

Floater or Ejector?

Perhaps one of the best feelings you can get from a roller coaster, besides the speed is what is called airtime. Airtime is the sensation you get from when your rear leaves the seat when the coaster goes over a hill.  There are two types of airtime: floater and ejector What's the difference? Well, it all has to do with 3 conditions: The length of the hill The shape of the hill The speed of the coaster Floater airtime is mainly found on the older style woode

Roller Coaster of the Day #2: Montu @ Busch Gardens Tampa

Like Fury 325, Montu is a steel coaster built by the Swiss manufacturer Bolliger and Mabillard (B&M). Unlike Fury 325, Montu is what is known as an inverted roller coaster. An inverted roller coaster positions riders below the track, which their feet dangle from the coaster train. This gives a feeling of being carried by an eagle by its talons. It is a very fun experience.  Stats Height: 151ft Top Speed: 60mph Inversions: 7 Max G force: 3.8 Ridden: Yes Revi

The Nature of Time

What is time? According to physics, it's just another dimension. There is a slight difference between spatial and time dimensions. Basically, the distance across two or more spatial dimensions is the square root of the sum of squares of the distances in the individual dimensions (as in Pythagorean theorem). But, due to time being a different kind of dimension, the distance across a spatial dimension and a time dimension is the square root of the difference of squares. Also there is only one time

Wood or Steel?

A lot of coaster enthusiasts have a huge list of coasters they have ridden. However, the #1 thing that could be a split in the fandom is this one thing: Wood or Steel Coasters? Now I know what some of you are thinking: "It doesn't matter! They both deliver thrills!" That's true. However, with the materials, each of them have capabilities.  Wooden coasters give that rickety feeling, sometimes a rough ride.  Steel coasters are very smooth and because steel can bend, they can in

MLP Season 8 Reflection

WEAK SEASON This is an interesting season for me. I started watching the show in June of 2017 so while I was somewhat following the show through the second half of season 7, season 8 was the first one that I really followed along with. And when I first watched it, I liked it. But I also liked Starlight and Sparity so clearly I've evolved since then (or devolved depending on your opinions on those things). But still, rewatching this season was kinda nostalgic and I think it's that nostalgia

Hurricane Nicholas

Tropical Storm Nicholas has just been upgraded to a Category 1 hurricane as of the 10pm advisory update from the National Hurricane Center. As I just looked on the forecast cone path, it's making a direct path to my home city of Houston right now. Wish me safe, bronies! There's going to be heavy rainfall that can lead to flooding in my area.
