TBAT's Top 10 Albums of All Time, #8: Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind

Possibly the most dauntingly impossible review I'll have to do for this series.   Swans is considered to be one of the greatest bands in underground music, and with good reason. Ever since the early 80's, this Michael Gira project has put out album after album, with their style changing indescribably from era to era.   The early 80's saw their contributions to no wave and noise rock with "Filth," "Cop," "Greed," and "Holy Money," moving into a style more reminiscent of post-punk (but still w

Equestria and the Crystal Empire: King of Crystal

As a note, I've had it mentioned to me in the past that I tend to over-emphasize European cultural and historical models, and not address ideas from other cultures. I agree this is a failing on my part, and my only excuse is that given the volume and depth of human history I had to specialize in some way. So delving into the culture and history of my own ancestors is where I've started. When someone refers me to good sources of info from other cultures, I do go through it, but European history i

Adventures on a Coral Cay, part 2!

Friday, 31st May - Sunday, 2nd June So, no-one know's me, huh? Okay... I'm a little disappointed, but relieved too...   The next few days was a bit of a blur, so it might be out of order. We were introduced to our assignments, the reason we were on the island. We separated into groups and planned our feild work. There was a walk around the island, which only took an hour, and another snorkel which I didn't get to participate in!   So uh, there was also the fish dissection, boating which was

75 years ago this week, one of the greatest pitching performances in baseball history

This person in the small image above is the late Johnny Vander Meer, a pitcher during the 1930s, '40s, and '50s.   Seventy-five years ago this week, Vander Meer did something no other pitcher did before and since.   As a member of the Cincinnati Reds, he pitched no-hitters in back-to-back starts.   His first no-hitter came at home in the old Crosley Field, he no-hit the Boston Bees (who later became the Boston Braves). Four days later, on the road in Ebbets Field, he no-hit the Brooklyn Do

Intro and Rush Rediscovered

Alright, this is my first blog, so I'm going to be rusty. Okay so I have had a pretty solidified taste in music for a while, up until I joined this forum. It was like a floodgate opened and I have so many new bands and artists that I need to listen. I figured I would share this new adventure. If you have any recommendations for what I should listen too, I will take those as well. Bands that I already love that I probably wont be talking about are Pink Floyd, Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Cold Play, Led Ze

Batman Forever: (1995)

The Batman movie that was released in 1995 known as Batman Forever, had a lot of negative reviews for it's comedic results after the movie was released. Maybe we could look at the cast of the movie. Batman - Val Kilmer The Riddler - Jim Carrey Two-Face - Tommy Lee Jones Dick Grayson - Chris O' Donnell Dr. Chase Meridian - Nicole Kidman I think that movie in general had a different style to what Tim Burton had in Batman Returns and Batman (1989), but the thing is Schumacher's

Somebody better pick up that phone...

...because I bucking called it!   I was looking through my old blogs, and I came across this old post I made during the Alicorn Twilight drama before Season 3 ended, before the Equestria Girls kerfuffle started up:   http://mlpforums.com/blog/160/entry-2886-im-just-going-to-call-it-now/   It's not Season 4, but I think Equestria Girls still counts, right? x3

TBAT's Top 10 Albums of All Time, #9: Meshuggah - Catch Thirtythree

Let's do this.   Meshuggah has always been a great band for delivering progressive metal without too many overly fancy complications attached to it. Their music hasn't usually included noodly guitar work, 10-minute epics, or lots of added instrumentation. Albums ranging from all the way back to "Destroy Erase Improve" and "Chaosphere," with their thrashy and fast-paced energy, all the way up to "Nothing," "obZen," or "Koloss," all focused on slow and pummeling grooves with more complex riffs.

TBAT's Top 10 Albums of All Time, #10: Miles Davis - B*tches Brew

This is something I've wanted to do for a while, and now I'm doing it. My top 10 albums of all time. You may be able to guess what's going to be on here, but I'd like to surprise a lot of you.   Anyone who knows jazz has to know Miles Davis. There's no way around that. His impact on the genre is so immense that I can't even begin to put it into words. He was at the front of so many movements in the style, from the bebop of the 1950's all the way into the 70's and 80's, pioneering modal jazz in

Reading Mommy's books

everyone as normal I'm Agent Smith doing another review. This story is called Reading mommy's books by articunos bitch, this fanfic is a vary strange one. The time plot is while Luna and Celesta were only fillies, personally I like that he added a lisp to Luna, it may have made it hard to read but it is quite funny. The story is that their mother left for a while, so they decided to read a story from the top shelf which was said to be off limits. The lot gets an B+ because I like how he used his

E3 2013 - Gaming Generations of the Past. Gaming Aspirations of the Future.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) is set to take place June 11-13 this year. As I’m sitting here typing these words out, I’m continually looking at the corner of my laptop. I see that the hinge is giving way with pieces actually falling off. Some 6 years ago I bought this laptop for $1,100, and it’s come a long way. It seems it’s time for a replacement. Now I’m looking for a new laptop, one that can do things on an entirely different level and for years to come. With that in mind, I have to

Something for Chigens

I can’t imagine living in A world without you here. A world where I was all alone Without your assistance near.   You’re the one I always turn to When a day is going bad, When I need a bit of good advice Or someone to make me glad.   Your wacky sense of humor Always makes me laugh. You can turn my frowns right upside-down And cut my bad moods in half.   You’re the only friend who sticks with me Through

Adventures on a Coral Cay, part 1!

This is another multi-part series entailing my life! Except it details only a week of my life... A really eventful week...   So, a bit of back story on this: Wednesday, 29th of May, 2013.   I say my farewells to you all here and hop on a barge heading to a coral cay in the afternoon. Why was I going to a coral cay? Beyond the fact that it's a coral cay and is, therefore, gorgeous that is. My school decided to take me there to do some field work! But I'll detail that later.   The barge tri

Know what I hate?

I hate liars. I fucking hate liars. I hate people who deliberately lie to my face, even when they know I caught them in a lie. People who I talk to daily, and they look at me in the eyes and lie. I apologize for the language, since I rarely use such harsh words, but I really despise liars. I lied in my life of course. I was involved in criminal things when I was a little younger, but that was different. I lied for different reasons.   I hate when people that I know and talk to all the time lie

Hilarious nerd rage over Xbox One

I'm not a gamer myself. I don't play video games. I just don't. Don't ask me why, because I don't have an answer for you. I just don't see the appeal for some reason. In the past few weeks I've derived a shit ton of entertainment from the countless gamers, openly professing their comically overblown, white, hot, and vitriolic acrimony towards MS over on YouTube, and other social media sites, and discussion forums. Many of them even go as far, as to predict Xbox one to be the failure that wil

Helicopter Crash.

Kinda hard to tell.   So i drew it.   So i walked into Cherno CHurch with a winchester and seen a guy       So i shot at him.. And got a lucky headshot.   He was loaded down with shit.     I went from this.       To This.           Proof. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gO2cTFuASAc&feature=youtu.be

Tim Burton Movie: Batman (1989)

As we look back on the Batman movies that helped build a super hero movie franchise like the Superman movies, we look at the 1989 classic Batman movie directed by Tim Burton.     This classic Batman movie helped pave the way with the Batman movie franchise that Warner Bros. operates, this classic appealed to the children and adults when the movie first released. We got to see Jack Nicholson play as the comedic & sinister side of Joker while we have the bachelor playboy by day and mysteri
