The Show won't last forever and people need to realize that.

It's something that was on my mind for awhile now and i thought maybe i shouldn't say this. But i think it's better if i am not quiet about it.

It's something that i saw quite alot in this fandom and these are the people who constantly insist, that this ride will never end and that the show will never end, simply because this is everything that they have and that they want to spend the rest of their life with the fandom, enjoying it.

I am not here to hurt anybody, because that is the least that i want. But it's better that bronies realize, that this will not last forever and that they should play with the thought, that this show will stop one day and that this fandom will probably not as active anymore, because i will guarantee you that this will happen. I for one already made up my mind and said that i will leave this fandom, once the show is over.

You probably might say now "But Mesme, what about G5?" There are a few problems with that statement. One of them is that so many people think, that Hasbro will shoot another MLP show out just like that. It might take another 10 years. Also, it most likely won't be the same show, as we probably have new characters, because Hasbro needs a new line of ponies they can sell. Lastly, i think it won't have the same impact. FiM came when the stars and the planets where at the right formation at the right time.

If DHX announces that S6 is the last season (i don't know BTW, but could be) you have to confront this.

But i still love you all guys. <3

But what about us if you leave after the end? :(

It's not about you or the people here.

I just don't feel comfortable with a fandom, that i will have no interest in anymore. Those friends from here, who want to contact me, will get my Skype and my Steam and whatever.

It's not like a farewell or whatever. :)

I believe the whole "ride never ends" thing is more of a joke vs people really thinking the show will go on forever, because obv. it will not. In fact I am not sure why you would want it to, if not this season maybe the next, I would really like the show to end on a good note vs dragging on like the Simpsons.

As for as the fandom is concerned with this, I think Bronies will always be here in some since, kind of like the Trekies or something, in fact it is already at that point kind of. stores don't really sell Brony merch anymore, but the fandom just kind of does it own thing. I see that happening for quite a while.

As far as me, I don't see a point is "leaving the fandom" when the show end, like yeah my interest will move on and all that, but being a Brony will always be a part of my, I have spent like 3 years of my life with this makeing friends going to conventions ETC. that is not something that I could just forget about.

I just used the "ride never ends thing" as a sort inside joke, so don't take it like that. :P

The thing is, we have so many different bronies, with different things that they want from the show, the fandom, the conventions or whatever. You seem like the kinda guy, who can find alot of enjoyment that the people of the fandom put out and that's totally okay.

The thing is, i can't. The hiatus is giving me barely any reason to look up fanfics, fan videos or whatever. These things don't really interest me, or rather my interest of them has gotten lower over the last 5 years. I came for this show mainly and i stayed for this show mainly and i know quite a few Bronies who feel the same way and who also probably won't stay.

I admit, the fandom won't die. That is certainly a matter of fact and the time i spend with the fandom is something i will always carry with me. But i think once the show is over, it will be alot less active and the conventions will be alot less visited.

No I really don't like fandom things, animations, or music or anything like that besides a select few, IE. Animated James really funny but I digress.

I get what you are saying because i think we agree, when the show ends I will loose interest fast. But I don't call that leaving the fandom, I think that my enjoyment of the show in the past still qualify being a "brony".

I will put it this way, I used to love Spongebob when i was little, i watched it everyday before school I loved it so much. Now i don't watch sponge bob the jokes are a bit juvenile for me now as I am older. However when asked I would still say I am a fan of Spongebob sure I don't watch it, the the memories are enough.  Same with MLP I guess, when the show ends I will not go back and watch old eps too much. I will stop going to conventions ETC. however when asked i will still say "I am a fan of MLP" and really that is all being a Brony is A fan of MLP.

Okay, now i see where you getting at.

Yeah sure. Maybe we can see it that way. But when it comes to fandom, i can't really see myself interacting with it, except for maybe sharing some nice memories of the show or what not.

I can't really see myself being part of anything, if i don't talk about it for the next 3 years. That's just my point of view.

Eh, I'll still take part in the fandom, and probably watch reruns for the rest of eternity.

It's so hard to find anything interesting on TV, this show and Doctor Who are like the only things I've got left. Hopefully it at least doesn't end for a few more years.

I doubt S6 will be the last one, though, given the introduction of Flurry Heart, the new Guardians Of Harmony toyline, etc.

While you are correct that FIM will end, I can't say your G5 statement is likely to be true. Hasbro make a lot of money off of MLP. For that reason I highly doubt they'd go such a long time without giving some form of continuation. And they will want a show to promote said toys. So I can say it's highly likely that a G5 show will premier within at least 5 years of FIM ending. And G5 will get attention. Yes whilst FIM's popularity was largely a chance event on 4chan MLP is now associated with the word "good". People won't just forget about after it ends. Plus when taking into account the fact that people are inclined to see reiterations of things they've seen before I can promise you that bronies will at least look into G5.

May I suggest you watch Steven Universe or Wonder over Yonder? Those are really good (and in my opinion better then MLP).

I never said my statement is true. All that i said is, that people shouldn't expect that G5 is happening immediatly, like just 6 months after the show ends. A span of 5 years sounds good. Maybe like 3 years after, since creating new characters and new locations and what not takes some time.

But i stay with what i said. The same height will never be achieved again.

Everything ends eventually. Well, unless you're the Simpson or Spongebob and look how well that turned out...

I'd prefer the show ended on a high note rather than forced to continue and suffer serious decay. And, considering the impact this show has had, even if it's years before a possible G5, I won't be the only one still riding this train for as long as I can.

The question is...Will future generations of Mlp gain recognition like G4? Because if G5 and so on were to be made, will it have the good old feelin of G4's story, characters, and gain another following? If Hasbro knows how much Mlp means to people, they would create new stories, and characters for people to fall in love again, thus creating another following.

I think that G5 can also become a very good show, but it won't have the same impact. What i could see as problematic, is when the writers try too hard, to make it the old G4 feel, saying that's what brought us so many fans.

It would be nice to have some kind of a new breath of fresh air, with new characters a new world and something different to see.

Mesme Rize, during my stint as moderator, one of the most duplicated topics was about MLP:FiM's eventual demise.  Even though the show and the fandom were just approaching or hitting its peak, lots of fans were already looking ahead to the sad time when the series is over and the fandom is smaller because they're not making G4 any more.

Maybe it's just my perspective but to me MLP fans seem very aware the show won't last forever.

I think i know what you mean. I also saw those people and they already are ready if the inevitable happens. But to me, it seems like people don't have any clue, what's going to happen then and i think it's a bit naive to think, that all the fans will stay once the show is over, because they won't.

I simply try to raise awareness, so maybe people can cherish the moments, that they can still have while the show is running.

I've tried Steven Universe before. Can see the appeal but couldn't really get into it myself. Haven't ever seen Wonder though, so maybe I'll try that.

MLP's my favorite show in general, even when compared to "Better" shows, so it'll be hard to top for me.

Well could you please explain why G5 will just never achieve any popularity among older fans and why the fanbase will just forget about FIM's existence.

Did i say that? I didn't say it would get any success, just not as big as G4, because that was also partially a fluke.

And i also never said that the Fanbase will forget about FIM.

What makes you think that?

The line "FiM came when the stars and the planets where at the right formation at the right time." Seems to suggest that a G5 show would not succeed. Unless I'm misreading that and you're saying that it won't be as popular then I completely understand.

Nah, misunderstanding from both of us.

I think it can be successful in its own right and also have it's own fanbase. But like i said, i can't realistically see a second phenomenon.

But who knows, maybe i am wrong. :P
