I have an iPad, and as the topic title says, this site runs very slowly. Often times, I'll try to type, and it the text lags. There's lag time in clicking on icons and scrolling as well. What's the cause of this?

It would be helpful if you specified which browser you were using, and what kind of iPad you have.

Typically, the site does not run very well on many mobile devices to begin with; it is set up for desktop browsing. We have a "mobile" theme, which you can access at the bottom of the page ("Change Theme"), but, of course, it will cut back some of the features of the site to allow faster browsing.

With the iPad (and all devices), it could and would be helpful to close some background apps. If you do not know how to do this, simply double tap the Home button and press the small minus-like button in the corner of the apps that appear in the multitasking bar. This will free up some memory and possibly help with your issue.

Also, rebooting seems to help, if you're truly desperate.

Also, deleting some unused apps if you're extremely low on storage space.

Other than that, there's nothing else, that I know of, you can really do, if you really want to browse on desktop version.

I would only recommend using the non-mobile version if you're reporting something, or replying to a status. Other than that, I always use the mobile version. It runs pretty fast and still looks nice.

Using the MLP Forums desktop site on a mobile device has been slow for as long as I can remember. There are a lot of images and other details that are being processed when you use the desktop site compared to the mobile. (Most notably in the post editor.)

As Plummeh said, the mobile version is your best bet at using the forums without it being slow on your iPad. I only switch to the desktop version unless there's something important to do. ;)

With that I think this is a good note to end the thread on. Thanks to plummeh for the answer and suggestions!
