With quadratics yes. if a = a negative number, might as well multiply -1 and distribute it to the whole quadratic problem, to at least make a = a positive number. since it helps to have a positive denominator after all!

Stupidity is relative, in most cases, but you're not stupid. I understand how you feel, sometimes I would sink down grade-wise in my favorite mathematics classes. However, after taking action about, I would raise the grade back up. Don'r worry about it.
