    Is it worth buying a home server to use for hosting gaming servers?

      If you choose the second option, probably you could make it 24/7, without letting your computer turned on. And perhaps sharing the server with other host that is in the oposite time zone of yours, so there can be always vigilance.

      Hosting a server from home is a terrible idea for many reasons, not least of which is the low quality of residential uplinks.

       

      Rent some space for your game server in a real datacentre. The experience will be a lot better. You could even rent a game server with me. ;)

      Thanks for the advice, both of you. I would probably buy a server from a hosting service, but I would need to save up some money first.

       

      Oh and Feld0, you never know, I probably could end up renting a server with you :)
