1. Looks like ToyWiz is finally starting to ship out the new figurine sets we've seen a few months ago: http://www.toywiz.com/mylittleponypvc3packset.html Anyone thinking about buying them?
2. I dunno... a few days? Probably because I was really busy with other stuff.
3. Not a European, so... I can't make it to BronyCon as it is.
4. Best way is to start a group on Facebook and advertise heavily via EQD.
5. Don't get me wrong, the current style is great, but sometimes, it pays dividends to mix up the art style a little bit.
6. While I believe that FiM still has a long way to go before Hasbro brings in G5, we all need to realize that G4 will eventually come to an end, and that we will all one day bid farewell to Twilight Sparkle and Co. Personally, I want to see at least two more seasons and a movie. Then, my appetite for FiM will be satiated, and I will look forward to seeing G5, preferably with new characters and in a completely new style.
7. You could say the same about My Little Pony. Before FiM, I had a negative impression of MLP, too. Not saying that it's quite as good as MLP, but I believe one of the people who once worked as a writer on MLP is working on this one.
8. Apparently, like My Little Pony, it's a revival of an old children's cartoon series that most people have sour memories about. Unfortunately, not a single soul has uploaded episodes yet, so, I'm just basing my views off of this clip: The voice acting is quite good, although the animation is somewhat stiff. I like what I see, though. Could this be the next My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic?
9. Well, our chief problem is proper funding. Plus, Boston is really close to New York, so that could scrape by BronyCon...
10. No, most of them are too expensive, and I do have better things to spend my money on.
11. Over the past few weeks, the local My Little Pony meetup group in my area have been discussing somewhat informally on the possibility of organizing a small-scale convention in Boston, Massachusetts. Now, nothing is set in stone yet, but we simply want to gauge public interest in such an endeavor (given that there are at least five fan conventions for My Little Pony right now). It would help us if you can take the following survey: https://docs.google....4dXQ5RWpWQ2c6MQ Thanks, everypony!
12. Second favorite here. I think I like her because she's a bit more "mature" than the other ponies and runs her own business to boot.
13. Just jailbroke my iPod Touch today, and I want some advice on a good MLP theme for iOS. Cydia is chock full of MLP themes, and I don't know where to start.
14. Why are people here so afraid to admit that they might like some other cartoons more than MLP? Seems odd.
15. Battleship did pretty well overseas, from what I have heard.
16. Hasbro has had a long history of releasing theatrical movies based on their properties. The Transformers movie was a big hit, and the recent Battleship movie was a modest success, too. But, can Hasbro make money off a theatrically released movie based on a girl's franchise? I have no doubt that a My Little Pony movie is coming, perhaps, once the fourth season of FiM has ended. But, the question is: Will it have a theatrical release? Or will it be a straight to DVD affair? Furthermore, will it spread like wildfire across the mainstream media, as a result of positive word of mouth from bronies who encourage their loved ones to see the film? Hasbro would be wise to utilize their adult fanbase in terms of mobilizing people to watch the movie (and making a big financial killing in the process). I don't know. But an MLP: FiM movie can be produced very cheaply (at least, compared with live action movies like Transformers or Battleship), and Hasbro could see huge returns at the box office if it can encourage bronies to essentially market the movie for free to their friends and family.
17. You need to watch it. It's funny in its own grotesque and weird way.
18. I love the CMC. The trio demonstrate a great amount of chemistry with one another, which makes their episodes fun to watch. I'm glad they are dropping the cutie marks gag a little now, it's good to see them doing their antics with different rationales from time to time.
19. People are afraid to admit that they like shows better than MLP. Please, it's not as if MLP is any lesser because you declare it so.
20. As a kid, I watched a lot of cartoons. MLP is good, but there is one cartoon that I have enjoyed more: Invader Zim. Some people decry Invader Zim for its crass cynicism, lack of sympathy, and its negative tone. But despite these traits, I find Zim oddly appealing, and, to this day, I consider it to be the best cartoon I have ever watched. As I have grown older, I have developed a greater appreciation for the show, particularly in how depicts humanity as corrupt, incompetent, and grossly stupid. This characterization is not far off the mark from what humanity is currently, in my opinion, especially when we see events like the Arab Spring and the amount of political polarization present in the United States.
21. Rewatching Spongebob has made me realize that FiM lacks much of the childish slapstick comedy charm that Spongebob has. Spongebob has significantly less depth when it comes to characterization, but it still makes me giggle like a giddy schoolgirl.
22. I was rewatching episodes from Spongebob the other day on Amazon Instant Video and recall that the show had a big adult following, even during its heyday in 2001. In fact, many children's cartoons have had big adult followings, and MLP: FiM isn't necessarily the first children's cartoon to garner a large following among adults. Why is it then that people make such a big deal over people watching MLP: FiM, especially when other children's cartoons have had big adult followings?
23. I thought I'd just bring up some internal politicking that has been going on with between some of the heavy hitters of the fandom, principally, between former organizers of BronyCon. As you may know, Purple Tinker organized BronyCon and eventually stepped down from its administration following a brief power struggle with the other con's organizers, according to rumors. As for Canterlot Gardens, it's an MLP convention being hosted in Ohio by a few former staffers of BronyCon, and Purple Tinker, upset by their behavior prior to her forced retirement from BronyCon, wants to shut Canterlot Gardens down. Now, you may ask: Where's the proof? Most of this stuff comes from Purple Tinker herself. For example, she wrote a letter to Hasbro urging them to send the organizers of Canterlot Gardens a cease and desist order: http://pastebin.com/PiDEjxjJ Furthermore, Purple Tinker has been vocal on her DeviantArt account, posting her own thoughts on the matter. Since her grudge has received greater attention in the past week, she has deleted her DA account, but Google still has a cached version of one of the blog posts she has made concerning the matter: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:ozTGzjWvDxwJ:purpletinker.deviantart.com/journal/Why-you-shouldn-t-attend-Canterlot-Gardens-301226062+&cd=5&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us Furthermore, some chat logs between her and some associates have been leaked, revealing the extent of Purple Tinker's grudge against the organizers of Canterlot Gardens: http://pastebin.com/bXP8L7sj http://pastebin.com/ZcX4p738 Now, what is the moral of this story? While Purple Tinker may have reason to be upset at some of her former associates, the truth is, things can get nasty from a political standpoint when you take a hobby way too seriously for your own good. Purple Tinker did little to help her cause by publicizing this so openly and so fiercely, and as result, has become the object of ridicule from fellow bronies over the past week or so. Moral: Don't let ponies rule your life.
