  1. Okay, how is Cadence's name spelled? I keep seeing it spelled with either an "a" or an "e" towards the end. At any rate, I think Cadence is secretly cursed - she turns into a werewolf every night. Or something like that.
  2. I know that MLP is the best rated show on the Hub, and perhaps they may be able to charge advertisers more if a few more people actually end up watching the show. Perhaps I underestimate the revenue that TV advertising still brings in for networks.
  3. Skimming through EQD yesterday, I was surprised to see that Hasbro is actually planning to publish an actual, full page advertisement in tomorrow's edition of the New York Times in a bid to encourage adults to watch it (because little girls actually read the New York Times). Why is Hasbro hyping this up so much? What can they achieve by advertising a children's show on an adult newspaper? Will people besides adults like us even care? Not sure what Hasbro is trying to do here...
  4. Mexico City, right? Well, good luck to you Mexican bronies out there.
  5. MandoPony is the best one because he can actually write lyrics. Also, any good female songwriters/singers in terms of MLP fan music? Haven't been able to find any.
  6. Yeah, but isn't Rarity like 20... and Spike just a little kid? Would be quite weird there, given how our culture views romantic relationships between adults and children. At any rate, I think Rarity likes Spike as a friend, and possibly, a little brother of sorts.
  7. If you are doing basic training soon, it is generally advised to remain as aloof as possible. Military doctrine generally frowns upon fraternization between soldiers during recruit training and indoctrination, so it's best to keep pony-related discussions in the bag until you are a real soldier who has earned his rank. Then, when you are serving at a military installation, it is perhaps safer to ask your fellow soldiers and officers if they are bronies or not. I know a fellow on another MLP forum who claims to be an active colonel in the air force. Claims to fly in an A-10 squadron in Georgia. I also know of another guy on another MLP forum who claims to be an infantry sergeant in the army.
  8. It's a children's show. Certainly it would be poor taste if romances are explored? Leave it for the fanfics only. I don't approve of romances in this franchise, given how awkward they could be.

    gaming L.A. Noire

I played the game last year. One of the best titles of 2011. People rag on it because it wasn't as open-ended as some might have liked, but it was still very good. Pity we won't be seeing Cole Phelps again... he was a character I empathized with. A flawed man who tried to overcome his flaws.
  10. I love Twilight's singer. She is probably the best singer featured in MLP: FiM. That smooth, creamy voice! I hope Rebecca Shoichet reprises Twilight's role sometime during the next two episodes. Given the lack of songs this season, I see it as unlikely, but we can only hope...
  11. But it's hardly an Internet meme, though. And I can't name a single major fansite for Zim that still exists. Everyone congregates on either the Facebook fan page created by fans, or the official message boards on Nick. Sure, there's InvaderCon coming up in July... but it's probably nowhere nearly as large as BronyCon.
  12. You prove my point. The fandom sustains the show's popularity to a degree. And yes, people do have negative opinions of MLP outside of the fandom, but within the fandom, positive feedback bounces off on everyone else who is also a fan.
  13. But, I am a fan! I just wanted to air some thoughts out there, that's all.
  14. I only learned about the show because I saw the meme being posted ad nauseum everywhere I went. I decided to give a show a watch, and liked it on its own merits. But there are people who are drawn to the show because of the fan community around it.
  15. In the past few weeks, I've come to question my fascination with My Little Pony more and more. To this end, I have come to a few conclusions: 1. My Little Pony became popular only because people were enthralled with the idea of being a part of a fan community that surrounded a media franchise that shouldn't have had such a big fandom (outside of little girls and women in their 30s and 40s) to begin with. 2. My Little Pony is a good cartoon, but not a great one. I can easily name a few other cartoons which exceed it in terms of writing and characters: The Angry Beavers, Rugrats, Invader Zim, Hey Arnold!, Courage: The Cowardly Dog, and even Lauren Faust's own Powerpuff Girls. 3. The way the Internet blew up My Little Pony is one reason why so many people view it through rose-tinted glasses. The show is good, but not that good. Perhaps the vibrant fan community makes people think differently, but from an objective standpoint, My Little Pony is an above-average cartoon at best. To this end, My Little Pony is overrated. Why don't other similar fan communities erupt for old cartoons? Oh right, because they have failed to become memes like MLP!
  16. I have three shirts from WeLoveFine: "Equestria Girls", "Dumb Fabric", and "Smile!"
  17. I bought the special Toys R Us set of figurines about a month ago. Kept the Mane 6, sold the rest on Ebay.
  18. Well, firstly, does your first name start with "G"? I just want to know if that's the person I think you are. And secondly, no, I don't like to meet people one-on-one via the Internet. Big group meetups are fine, but there are Chinese walls that must be maintained. No offense, of course. Come to the meetup on the 31st and you'll make a ton of new friends.

    Hi.

Hi, everyone! I usually post over on the Equestria Forums and on Brony Central, but I thought I might as well branch out a little and see what other MLP forums are out there. I am currently a university student, so I still live somewhat like a kid. I am also a big video gamer. There's not much else to say, but hi!
  20. I saw it on a list of links on the fan wiki. And I thought it was an active enough forum to consider joining.
  21. Does your first name start with a G, by any chance? On the meetup group. You'll see me on the 31st if you go to the meetup.
  22. Yeah, I go to BC. Good school. But, this event isn't being sponsored by a brony group on campus or anything - I just suggested to the Greater Boston bronies group that we could use the university as a meetup spot since it's a bit harder to get space at other places. Last time we had a meetup at BC, I was the only bona fide student present. I was there to just make sure that the whole thing was somewhat legitimate.
  23. I think I know who you are on the meetup group. See you then!
