  1. I tend to lean to the liberal side, but I am still somewhat conservative. I am liberal when it comes to environmental and social aspects, and somewhat more conservative when it comes to the economy and business. I also am not extreme liberal on social issues. The only place where I lean extremely to one side is on environmental issues.
  2. I LOVE backpacking and hiking! I also occasionally go mountain biking and car camping. Last year I went on 20 beautiful hikes, but this year I plan on doing much more backpacking. I'm hoping to do 6-7 backpacking trips this year, as well as 10+ day hikes and 2-3 mountain biking rides. I love being out in nature and exploring the backcountry. There's nothing like sitting on a rock and looking off to the vast expase of mountains, glaciers, and valleys. So far, I haven't done much backpacking; mostly day hikes. I've done 3 backpacking trips to date. Collecting maps and guidebooks has become somewhat of a hobby of mine. Almost as much as I collect pony merch. Here are my maps: My Hiking Map Collection by fluttershyismagic, on Flickr On a side note, I think it would be kinda cool to start a brony hiking forum/facebook group sometime to share hiking pictures. It could be called PonyvilleHikers, BronyHikers, or EquestriaHikers.
  3. I expect My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic to last a very, very long time. I hope it lasts for 30 seasons or more! Even if the show quality went down (which it won't), I would still want to continue seeing ponies. It would be a sad day when MLP ends, which is why I would rather it lasted forever. I feel that there will be at least 9 seasons, if not more. MLP:FiM is extremely popular, and Hasbro will no doubt want to continue the show. Discovery Family and Hasbro won't want the show to end since it (most likely) brings in the most views. Here is a graph I created based on viewership counts/ratings for My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic over the years. The graph starts out with Season 2, Episode 1 "The Return of Harmony." The graph is incomplete, sadly, as we are apparently missing the figures for all of S1, and most of S2 and S3. (Does anyone know if these figures have ever been released? I'm curious as to the viewership for the Season 1 premiere and finale.) Still, it shows how MLP's viewership is growing, and very likely will top 1 million for the Season 5 finale. My Little Pony- Friendship is Magic Viewership Growth Rate by fluttershyismagic, on Flickr Link to interactive graph. These figures, of course, are only including the people who actually watch it live on tv. Many more people watch it via Youtube, Dailymotion, livestreams, or torrents. A poll from a while back on EQD showed that only 16% of the fandom actually watches it on The Hub (now Discovery Family). There are, according to State of the Herd Report and The Official Bronystudy, between 7-12.4 million bronies worldwide as of 2012. With the year being 2014, the fandom has only grown larger and that estimate may be too small. I am extremely confident in the longevity of the show, and am excited to see what we will see next, especialy what epic battles will the Mane 6 face in the future seasons. Just think, each season has been progressively upping the "epic" factor. S1 Pilot to S2 Premiere, S2 finale to S3 premiere, S4 premiere to S4 finale. It just gets more awesome every time!
  4. I loved the episode, but it wasn't as "epic" as I had expected. It was very solid, though. Twilight's Kingdom is still my favorite, because it was much more epic and awesome, but The Cutie Map was still very enjoyable and interesting. While I am not necessarily extremely enthusiastic about it, I still loved it. Here is a graph I made based on viewership counts/ratings over the years. 5. The PNW has been getting the lowest amount of snow in years! The last time the snow was this low was in 1962! Around Northern Oregon/Mt. Hood, it is only 11% of normal, in the North Cascades/Northern Washington it is ~40% of normal, and on Mt. Rainier it is only ~30% of normal. The worst is on the Mt. Hood National Forest, by far. Places that should be under 6+ feet of snow have patches to none at all. Places at almost 5,000 ft. have hardly any at all! 6. The mountains, alpine meadows, lush old growth forests, mountain peaks, mountain streams, and lakes. Some photos I took on my hikes last year: Cascade Pass, North Cascades National Park, Washington. Misty View Below Burroughs Mountain, Mount Rainier National Park, Washington. Quartz Creek Trail, Gifford Pinchot National Forest, Washington Bird Creek Meadows, Mount Adams Recreation Area, Washington. More photos: Panoramio
  7. Minecraft and My Little Investigations, although I usually prefer watching Youtubers play games instead of playing them myself. Youtubers like CaptainSparklez, Syndicate, UltraMag64, etc.
  8. Hmm, I think it was Maze Runner. But the last movie I actually (re)watched was Pooh's Heffalump Movie (for Nostalgia). And just before that, EQG 2. Yes, that was shuch a good movie! That handshake though!
  9. I bought WeLoveFine's Flutterbat figure with the coin; and just before that, I bought hiking maps for the Canadian Rockies.
  10. OK, thanks for the suggestion! I didn't think about that one from Party of One, i'm sure it would receive great reactions. I'll think about it some more, and try to decide between that and the Mane-iac's monologue before class tomorrow.
  11. Hi everypony! For Communications class in school, I need to find a monologue clip from a tv show or movie and show it to my senior class this monday (Nov. 10). Just a few days ago, I made a powerpoint presentation on C.S. Lewis' book "Mere Christianity," and related it to the battle scene in the episode "Twilight's Kingdom." I played the clip in class, and got my classmates on board the pony train. Woohoo! It received 100% positive feedback; everyone was remarking with things like "that was awesome!," "holy cow!," and "this is crazy!" One person even remarked at how I "just converted the entire class into bronies with just one clip!" Since I need to come up with a good monologue clip, I'm hoping that MLP can provide a good monologue to present in class (preferably a villain scene). If not, then I'm open to hear suggestions from other movies and tv shows that aren't pony. I have no idea where to find a monologue, so any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
  12. Hello everypony! I'm new here, so I might as well make an introduction. I'm not sure how to make one, so I hope that I'm doing it right! I love everything ponies! I became a brony sometime after the third episode of Season 1 aired. I watched it on Youtube. I got hooked after I checked back a few weeks later, and found a couple new episodes (maybe 5) uploaded on Youtube, and marathoned through them that night. The brony song "Fluttershy's Lament" by AllLevelsAtOnce gave me the ephiphany that I AM a brony. After that point, I have been a strong brony and fan of the show. I also love the outdoors, and consider myself an avid hiker. I love hiking, camping, and backpacking---its a huge passion of mine. I love photographing landscapes as I hike. I paint landscapes in acrylic. I love science, especially environmental sciences, geology, and astronomy. My favorite episodes of MLP:FiM are: Twilight's Kingdom, Hurricane Fluttershy, A Canterlot Wedding, The Return of Harmony, Daring Don't, Princess Twilight Sparkle, Bats!, Magic Duel, and The Crystal Empire. It's soo hard to choose! I don't have a least favorite episode or character in the show. I enjoyed every episode. It would be nice to find some bronies who are also interested in hiking / camping / backpacking here, and would be really awesome if there are some bronies here from the PortlandHikers.org or NWHikers.net groups. It would be even cooler if there can be some sort of organized brony hikes and camping trips too. I'm willing to offer my advice for great campgrounds and hikes in my local area, the Pacific Northwest too. Some of my favorite hikes are in Washington, specifically the Goat Rocks Wilderness, Mount Rainier National Park, Mount Adams Wilderness, and the North Cascades region. And in case anyone is interested, "Equestria Lake" is an actual place in the world now according to Google Maps and Google Earth. It is located in SW Washington state (U.S.). During my hikes, I usually take pictures of ponies along my hikes. Here are some of them: Thank you for your time! Brohoof! /)
