I really don't mind the lack of explanation. I imagine they'd prefer to lay out the mystery behind why society became so separated piece by piece over the course of the coming show. Besides, the less they rely on past lore and history from its predessor, the better; G5 shouldn't be shackled to rely on events of the previous gen.

I found myself relieved by that; the film made the best effort not to be tied down to lore and references to its predeseccor in order to be successful. It stood on its own four feet, at least to me anyway.

Already said what needed to be said. I loved it, and I look forward to where they go on it. And regarding the big plot twist at the end...

My Little Pony: A New Generation is a light-hearted, simplistic and serviceable new step into the franchise. Very fast paced, going through scene after scene without feeling rushed. It wants to tell the story while clearly keeping in mind its true target audience. And there's nothing wrong with that. For tone and interest, it does its job. The characters possess the spirit of the old Mane Six, albeit still with their own personalities to define them. The main protagonist, Sunny, inhabits traits of Twilight, Hitch shows traces of Applejack, Izzy exuding the bubbly nature of Pinkie, Zipp with Rainbow, and Pipp in Rarity. I will not delve into spoilers, but I will say this, those worried about the future of franchise we all know and love: There's nothing to fear. The movie flawlessly captures the heart and soul of its predessecor while taking it into a new era. I look forward to where that path goes!

The fans are gonna spill blood!
The fans have asked for years for a remaster of Adventure, Adventure 2, Heroes. And instead, they choose Colours. I'm convinced; Sega actually hates its fanbase and wants to spite them. XD
That being said, I don't care. I LOVE Colours; it's my second favourite 3D Sonic game. The game is half loved and half hated, but I won't be complaining this game is getting a remaster. Especially since my Wii doesn't work anymore.

So, with reveals of background info behind the premise of the new gen, that have been many immediate presumptions everything Twilight and friends have amounted to nothing. That all their friendships, all the unifications they made, it's all gone back to ground zero with species being separate from each other once more.
Well I'm here to say... It was NEVER going to last.
Eras change. Societies develop; disbandon, forge anew. History is made way for the future. Can you honestly believe Twilight's vision of Equestria would last forever? That's incredibly unlikely and absurd; the land of all creatures in Equestria wouldn't stick around each other untilt he end of time. Twilight and friends' legacy would always last only in their lifetimes, with a lingering century or so of everyone sticking together before times shift.
That's never to say all their efforts and trials were meaningless, but this is how things are. Look how much humanity has repeated the same mistakes over and over again regardless of our accomplishments, and Equestrians have always displayed a level of natural prejudice to other creatures.
Think before you leap, is the reminder here.
