Always nice to the see an artist progress with art!
Interesting technique with the bones. It is reminding me of when I create 3D models and use bones for animations.
When I am drawing my ponies, I usually do a free hand sketch (in the most basic program, like MSPaint), and look at it to see if it has some kind of interesting flow to it (does it look alive of not?). If not, I just sketch up a new one (by deleting the whole canvas and starting over). It doesn't solve the perspective or size of things, but it allows me to have an entry into the unknown. I am really good at copying good designs (that have been done by others), but creating one myself is too demanding, so I am basically randomly sketching to, hope I get something interesting I can then copy from (like my sketch was done by another, and I don't get too demanding about it).
Then, when finally having something, that's when I do the measurements of bones, and changes the aspect ratio or ovals into circles. Then I already have the flow of the pose, and some kind of perspective. It is up to my brain to interpret what that perspective is, and size the bones accordingly. That's how I do it. I don't mean to criticize. There are many ways to draw. I find it interesting to see different ways, like yours!
