Don't be worried about it that much. It may be not your fault at all. Some users tend to clean their following list if it becomes too hard to manage, due to wall of notifications. Remember, that it is 'following' function, not 'friends'. Just because someone unfollowed you doesn't mean, that they no longer like you, nor that it was your fault. Actually I also should clean my list, because I follow too many users, which generates an insane wall of notifications each day, where most of them are 'good morning' and 'goodnight' statuses, viewed about 10 hours later, which makes these no longer relevant. That's why I had to disable notifications, which made the follow function completely obsolete for me. The problem is, that I kinda don't want to clean it, because everyone will automatically assume, that it is their fault and/or that I no longer like them, which wouldn't be true.

So yeah, don't be worried about it that much, you never know.
