    Okay, so I was browsing through DirecTV's TV guide and found "A Royal Wedding" and in the description box is this—

    "Twilight Sparkle and her friends are invited to the wedding of Shining Armor, Twilight's brother, and Princess Cadence, PRINCESS CELESTIA'S NIECE"

    Omigosh, it's like they don't even know what they're writing! Unless I've gone insane, that is the most HILARIOUS fluke ever made!!! XD

      Okay, later it apparently established that Cadence was adopted by Celestia as her niece, however, this was NOT established in that particular episode when she was introduced. SPOILER!!!

      Looked into it. Apparently her voice actress said it on Twitter and this was later confirmed by some of the writers

      They just never mentioned it
