Excuse my ignorance, but I must ask, why exactly are people getting so offended over this?
I mean, as I recall the brony community, among other groups, consist of:
- homosexuals and bisexuals
- black people
- Asian people
- Hispanic people
- I believe I've seen some native american people
- fat people
- nerds and geeks
- ginger people
- rednecks
If you belong to any group that has stereotypes around it, is this really, truly, honestly the most insulting thing you've heard in your life? For that matter... Should Tosh's comment even be considered insulting at all? Because if you honestly are offended by this I want to live in the utopia you're living in.
Also take into consideration that this was a short quip (I believe it wasn't even 30 seconds long) on a show that pretty much always spends at least 3 minutes, if not longer, going on and on with its stereotyping and ripping on its subject this is really minor within the show's context, so I just don't see at all why you'd even make any fuss about his "joke".
Kind of going back to what I said before... I don't watch his show (or TV in general for that matter) very often, and when I do I'm not paying a great amount of attention to it... but as I seem to recall, he is making "jokes". Now completely objectively tell me, how funny would you say "a very small percentage of the grown adults watching the my little pony cartoon show" sounds compared to a simple "the fans of this show"? He generalizes because not doing so would not be in the best interest of his routine. He does it with his "black quips", he does it with his "Hispanic quips", he does it with his "gay quips", and he does it with his "fat quips". Now please remind me why exactly this is worse? I'm not saying you should like him for making fun of everyone, I'm saying that there's really no reason to take this one specifically to heart.
My opinion towards this whole ordeal? Find a lake, build yourself a bridge, and get over it.
If you let stuff like this get to you, then life is probably going to be a real b*tch to you later on.
As for the specific material he chose to display... well... frankly, I'm not touching that one, even with a twenty foot stick... I know that for a lot of people here their cultural heritage takes a certain stand against nudity, so any statement about that would probably just result in an undying stream of bickering... I hope we can simply agree to disagree.
