  1. This one always makes me laugh :ButtercupLaugh: There is this Brazilian meme that used to be very popular years ago, it's a guy screaming "Ó O GÁS!" which can be translated to something like "LOOK AT THE GAS!" or "THERE IS THE GAS!", now, even though all the videos I watched that used this meme were obviously from Brazil, for some reason, I thought the meme was actually American, I thought that the guy was actually screaming in english "OOOH GUYS!", and I was so sure about it that I just spent years completely believing that it was a American meme, It was just when the meme lost its popularity that I dscovered it was actually a Brazilian meme and I genuinely almost couldn't believe it at the time, it truly shocked me , seriously, listen to it and tell me if it doesn't sound like he's screaming "OOOOH GUYS!"

  2. Holy Celestia, What The Fu:lostit:I mean, well, if it's inspired by a show I don't like, then I couldn't expect less from it, watched this episode and I just found it even more joyless and lackluster than Tell your Tale, so definitely avoiding the next episodes of this...thing ☆, as well, both shows just aren't for me. It's also bizarre to see this just dropping out of nowhere just a few days after I went full bye bye on TyT :mlp_confused:

  3. Hihi biotroficck! Welcome to the forum! :eager:!

Hey haha your story with MLP is very similar to mine, I also used to really like MLP back in 2014, but then after it I just forgot about the series, got reintroduced to it just a 1 year ago (started watching it this exactky same month but in 2023) :wau:

Very interesting to see someone who shares a similar experience, hope you enjoy your stay in this awesome place just I am enjoying! :squee:

Yeah I'm really confused, no offense, the art is good, but I just can't understand very well how the work with planes and perspective works here :scoots:

    Underground pony versus human warfare.

    Underground warfare.png

The art is good but I'm kinda confused by how it works, from what I understood

The Pony is hiding in the rock, and this rock is in front of the water, while the water is is front of the area with the entry showing the human, making this order:

1st Plan (Forefront): Pony hiding on the rock

    2nd Plan (Middle): water

3rd Plan (background): entry with the Human

    Is it correct ? :mlp_huh:

  7. Can't say anything and that is quite subjective, and I personally don't think MLP can be compared to shows like The Simpsons, Spongebob SquarePants, also TV PG-13 cartoons, they were in different worlds and even considering the many teenagers and adults who watched FiM, their audiences still were different from each other, as well their popularity and influence.

And I can't make a personal comparison between them either, I never watched any of these shows consistently, Adventure Time I missed the later seasons, Family Guy I barely watched more than 3 full episodes :ButtercupLaugh:

The only one of them I can truly compare with MLP somehow is Regular Show, it was the closest that I came to watch in full, watched some of the final Season (8), and one thing I can say for sure in my opinion is that Regular Show throughout its ending was truly trying to still tell new stories with new concepts, Season 8 is entirely set in Space, while Season 7 made a build up to that, so the Regular Show team was still risking with new ideas til the series' finale.

Now FiM went for a more secure route, I feel that the G4 team "ran out of ideas" for the most part starting from Season 5 (or specially Season 6), while Season 8 took the risk by introducing the School of Friendship and Student Six, most of the latter half of the show pretty much rely on fanservice and repeating or rehashing ideas from past episodes, bringing back old villains and revisiting old material so much to the point that Season 9 felt more like a celebration of the entire show rather than a Season with original stories, the complete opposite of Regular Show's finale.

"Quality" wise, well, it's kinda funny, but I personally think that both shows started to decline after their 4th Seasons, I remember watching the episodes of Season 5 of Regular Show and onwards and feeling that they weren't as fun, creative or memorable as the ones from the first 4 Seasons, Seasons 1-4 felt a lot more crazy and fantastic to me, making the show awesome to me, while 5-8 were more calm, relaxed and "realistic", making it lose some of its magic in opinion, and I feel the same about Seasons 5-9 of FiM (except for the "realistic" part, at least not very much )  but I still really liked both in their later reasons ☆

Worn out, had my toilet leak like crazy yesterday, causing a kitchen flood downstairs and was forced to cancel today's meeting and even the out-of-home adventures:scoota-sad: that came with it.  A professional had to look at the damage and a new toilet may be needed:scoots:

Damn what a bad luck, really hope a new toilet will be good and not cost too much for you

  10. Yeah a few months later I can feel it very well, surprisingly I'm not even talking about G4, back when Make Your Mark was still releasing new episodes I felt that the fandom was still more active, specially here, and since then I'm feeling a decline, MLP itself just doesn't help it, 2024 is being a dry year for the franchise, and many fans just lost interest in following G5 (the reasons I won't discuss here, everyone has their own)

Really sad but I hope when they release a new series or generation, the fandom flourish again, not saying that it's dead, but going through a new "gold" phase, although I'm not very optimistic about it, it has been feeling just "legacy-ish" to me lately :sunny:

Fortunately the forum is making me very happy though, having little is much better than nothing indeed, thanks :Rara:

  11. Welcome to Pony Forum of Pony World! Purple Fiend! Hope you enjoy this amazing place! :eager:

As for G5, if you're really curious about it, I think you should do just exactly as I did, keep your expectations low, just expect a fun show with minimally interesting stories. I did this and, well, for me Tell Your Tale was a disappointment and a boring show in overall, but I really liked the A New Generation Movie and Make Your Mark! they definitely aren't G4 level in my opinion, but I really liked the characters and stories an the 1st main villain of Make Your Mark is my personal favorite in the entire franchise! Something related to this villain actually is a aspect of G5 that I liked more than how it was done in G4! And I even enjoyed a few episodes of Tell your Tale! So you definitely should check it out if you're interested, maybe you'll even like Tell Your Tale :oh_golly:

  12. Fooled, by the climate, since July started it has been feeling super hot and dry here in my place, makes me feel that I'm going to toast or melt anytime. Then out of nowhere, yesterday a super strong rain decides to crash, leaving several leaks in my house. This is not funny, pegasi

Happy to have at least one semi-could day though :orly:

I think what the difference between "Forum Lounge" and "General Discussion"? :zipp-wut:

For me this sections look pretty much similar.

I think it's how a specific random discussion is talked, forum lounge is mostly relaxed with simple and silly posts, something like: post a picture of the fruit you're eating.

While general is for the more complex discussions and posts, here you'll find a thread asking something like this: tell your story of middle school life.

The descriptions for both makes it pretty clear to me, but I could be wrong :discord_balloon:

  14. Welcome to the forums cheesyboy! Glad MLP made you feel better!

Sad to hear that you plan to leave this site after making 2 posts, I really hope you give this site a chance, here is a beautiful place, I say this for my own experience, I almost wasn't very active in my first months here because I thought this place was just like any other place where you can barely make any friends, so I initially was only here to also share my thoughts on the show and to just make theories, but once I decided to give a chance to the other parts of the forum, like the friends and stuff, everything changed for me and I notuced how special this place is! Since then I'm loving here and I'll visit everyday because there's always awesome people here!

I really hope you give a chance just as I did, feel happy! :coco:

  15. I personally have almost no issues with how the Princesses are treated in the show, and I think the criticism towards them should be directed to Discord too.

The thing is, they are super overpowered beings in a story where they aren't the protagonists, the show isn't about them, it's about Twilight and her 5 friends, the Mane Six need to be the ones to solve the problems, they're the heroes.

If Luna and Celestia always tried to solve the problems by their own, not only they would steal the spotlight from the protagonists and ruin their character arcs, as they would also prevent the story from being told, know about the popular question "If God is so powerful, then why doesn't he just eliminate Satan, Demons, Hell and all of the evil things?" It's hard to make a story where your protagonist befriends a overpowered being. If Celestia and Luna tried to defeat Tirek the moment he popped up, then "Twilight's Kingdom" and all the awesome moments that fans love in that two-parter just wouldn't have happened. The writers need to make a excuse for these stories to work without the interference from these kinds of characters.

That's why I mentioned Discord earlier, because, isn't he treated the exactly same way as the Princesses? Let's see, he was this super overpowered creature who literally won for a moment during his time as a antagonist. When the protagonists befriended him, what happens later? He tries to help against Tirek, but he is fooled and gets his power stolen. He tries to help in the 2nd Changeling Invasion, but once he arrives at their home, he can't use his powers. And in the final story, he's once again fooled and get his power stolen. Also, what about the events he wasn't present? Where was he during the Stygian attack? The Storm King's army invasion? Cozy Glow's arc?

That's pretty much how it is, he can't participate in the incidents nor use his powers to solve the problems, because the story just won't work with him, it won't happen, so, either the writers had to leave him out of these events, or nerf him, it's exactly the same that happened with Celestia and Luna, the difference is that Discord had his own story arc, so we could see very well how powerful he was when a villain, he was almost invincible and could do anything. But when he becomes an ally, things change, he can't do all that stuff he did when he was a villain anymore (just like Fluttershy says to him in Season 3 Ep 10), becaus if he tries to, the story ends. That's a common practice in fictional works, it happens all the time. Look at how ridiculously powerful Vegeta was during his Villain arc, he seemed to be nearly immortal (as the characters themselves say), but once he becomes an ally in the next arcs, he's nerfed and beaten multiple times.

But back to the Princesses, I at least give props to the writers for at least trying to explain why they can't help, I really think it wasn't good to completely ignore Luna in the 1st Changeling invasion, but the rest for me was actually fine, at least in the first seasons. People must think that Celestia losing to Chrysalis was really lame, but I personally think that was really good, when I saw it for the first time I thought it was awesome and seeing Celestia losing shocked me positively, because they explained why it happened. Chrysalis makes it very clear that a being can become insanely powerful by absorbing "love energy", yet, their Energy Clash wasn't just "Celestia lost, weakling", nope, we actually get to see Chrysalis struggling a lot and Celestia almost winning, even though Chrysalis become very strong with the power she stole, Celestia with her own power could almost defeat her, and I think that was really awesome to see.

And I really like how in the early seasons they give a reason for them to not interfere, Celestia makes very clear to Twilight and her friends (and even Luna, in The Crystal Empire) that she wants them to solve the problems for themselves, for their own character developments and specially for Twilight's growth into a princess, so she knew that she had to leave these problems for her pupil, so she could become an Alicorn Princess, so it was all part of her plans and how much she trusted Twilight (although I admit, A Canterlot Wedding was a huge exception, but Celestia made it very clear from the beginning of the first part that she was going to deal with the situation this time, as she was watching for any kind of threat).

Also, I said before, this is Twilight's and her friends' show, still, the writers again gives us another reason for them to not interfere by showing that the two already confronted these villains in the past, Celestia "defeated" Nightmare Moon (and that episode shows us that she's stronger than Celestia), the two defeated Discord and King Sombra, etc, plus that was a time in history where they were the only beings capable of dealing with such opponents, so they had to do with by themselves. But once Twilight and her Frienda arrive, they are no more alone, they now have a group of individuals that they can trust to solve these problems. So the two had their time to shine, and decided to leave the situations to Twilight and her friends, so they could become their successors, something that in fact happened in the series finale.

So I definitely don't think that the two were written poorly or anything, and I think the show have very good reasons to not let them deal with the situations, of course you can disagree and dislike it, I actually do think some of the explanations for them to not participe or for losing are a bit half-assed, I think the explanations in the first four Seasons were good, but post-Season 4 I think they kinda lost it, making they lose multiple times indeed makes them look weakling or useless. I personally think they could've done here was was done with Beerus and Whis in Dragon Ball Super, they are insanely powerful gods and befriended the protagonists, still, they are never show losing, they actually only help when things go very out of control, and sometimes they have major roles in the arcs, but they never are the ones to solve the problem, but they help without losing their position, they are still feared and respected, I think they could've done the same with the Princesses here, both of them losing to someone like Cozy Glow is indeed very hard to swallow :mlp_gag:
