  1. My OC is a Diamond Dog, by the way. Also, this took 11 minutes and 20 seconds. I'm not a super fast artist, sadly.
  2. "Eeee!" Anatase yelped and squealed as her head poked straight through the fragile soil and through to the surface. The sight that met her was not pretty. It seemed that she had poked her head not more than several inches away from a stand-off - Ruby Dogs and ponies standing straight across from each other in opposition. Some ponies were galloping around, dodging stones that were being tossed by cackling Dogs. Others were merely glaring and shouting back at their opposers. She could hear some distinct insults... insults that made her feel the sadness she had managed to push down rising up again. Her kind was only proving how rude they were... One unicorn stared what appeared to be her mother straight in the eye, deflecting a stone that had been tossed at her back at the old Dog. "This is ridiculous." She scoffed rather snottishly. "My magic could easily wipe all of you out! So why don't you stop provoking us and back off? You... inferior loathsome beasts!"
  3. Well... that was one out of the picture. One who was... certainly out there. Somewhere. But then again, who was she to talk? @@Ochre_Dust, "It's... just some basic algebra," The young woman said kind of baffledly, still unsure how she exactly was staying in this situation. It appeared he interpreted her doodles of random symbols as some kind of advanced math. Something worth a chuckle if she wasn't so nervous. Too bad she couldn't get out of here as that would be rude. Her arm briefly stung for a moment, perhaps she could use that as some kind of excuse. However, he kept on chatting, and didn't really give her any opportunity to chime in with that. "Landa Theta... that... has nothing to do with math. It's just for a project... I'm not very good at math, so I take remedial classes," She blushed a little at this next misinterpretation. That was one of her creative projects, a science fiction story in which she made up some technical-sounding mumbo jumbo to make things sound more legitimate. Well, at least it worked. And then he noticed the big one. "Uh, uh. Just a doodle. Nothing special!" Once again, she reached out her hand to tentatively snatch the papers, but not having the courage to actually take them out of his hand. "I need to get going... uh... I kind of hurt my arm in the fall, so I should get that checked out!" @@Reaver, Her head abruptly turned in the direction of the other female, who had... come back a gain with a soft drink. Vaguely, she waved her other hand at her. "Uh, yeah. Bye!" What an unnerving thing to say... did she suspect this man to be some kind of criminal?

Because it's Monday, I knew it was going to be one of those days. Even more so at 4:30am. xD

It's Monday? What a coincidence. I don't pay attention to the days of the week anymore.

  5. Whilst I disagree with you for the most part, it is pointless to argue about differences in taste. So I will instance clarify what you've pointed out specifically. I meant that the concept is fresher due to the fact that MLP has been around longer and this concept of an alternate human world has never been explored within G4. MLP has been around for five years and I'm getting kind of tired of pony and the fact that they just seem to waste a lot of the potential of this fantasy setting. Basically, I meant that it's fresher because it's something new in comparison to MLP and nothing else. It's something completely different, and I appreciate the change.
  6. I prefer Equestria Girls. It is easy to say My Little Pony, because there is far more content to it. What I've seen in just Rainbow Rocks, however, has blown MLP out of the water. It is far better written than any story arcs that have been attempted to be implemented in the show, by virtue of being a movie and thus being more focused on its goal. The majority of MLP is just "filler" episodes. Episodes that are slice of life, and whilst fun, aren't really my cup of tea as much as a more focused story. Whilst I do prefer the character designs of MLP, Equestria Girls is easier to take seriously due to the fact that they are humanoid. I can relate to the humans more than the ponies, and I find their characters to be generally better in Rainbow Rocks. Their dialogue feels like things that actual people would say, and the humor just feels more genuine to me. Rainbow Rocks made me laugh far more than any episode of MLP. And as someone else has said, Equestria Girls just feels fresher. It has more potential and more concepts to exploit in my opinion, particularly the portal and how alternate versions of the characters we haven't encountered would be interpreted in this world. Due to being more realistic, it also feels less cartoony. I'm less of a fan of cartoony.
  7. I guess the closest I can say is just "friend." Because my biggest desire as well is to have people to have meaningful talks with. Good conversation is king with me. I don't get to talk very often, and I sit around many days in cold lonely silence. However, I'll elaborate even more upon that. This is going to sound somewhat selfish. bitter, and cruel, but I want to be honest. What I am is an intense friend. I am very picky, and only want to be your friend if I see you and I as being compatible, if talking between us is effortless and we just click and you contribute something to my overall existence.. In my life, I used to be a true friend. I would stick around toxic poisonousness people who took advantage of my kindness and sapped me. Nowadays, I keep people at an arm's length. I want something serious, something significant, and important. Something deep. I want to be the friend that has deep, meaningful conversations with you. The one who is one of the most important people in your life. I don't want to be there just to hang out, but I want to be there to talk. To talk about things beyond our existences, and also, to emotionally help each other through the bad times. But only to a point. Because I won't always be around if you screw that up. I have a good chunk of tolerance, I can be patient, and I can be kind. I can sit there, and listen to you ramble about your problems. But there has to be equality in this relationship, and I have to get something out of it too. Most of all, other than wanting to talk, I just want to be loved. Platonic love, romantic love, it doesn't matter. I just want to know that you care about me, and if I know that, then I will be the best damn friend you've ever had. Of course, I'll still hang around and goof off with random people. But I don't consider those people to be my friends. That is a title I am very picky with, and do not give except to the most important. (Only one person currently.)
  8. Xenosaga, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Pokemon, art. I obsess over a variety of many other things, but these have been my primary ones over the years. Xenosaga in particular is a recent one I can't get off my mind. It's one of the few things that I occasionally have dreams about, particularly in regards to a fourth installment that will never get made. I take that as meaning that I am still very much obsessed about it. Also, I often refer to the characters and elements of Xenosaga to my fiance, as well as constantly finding new avatars of its main protagonist, Shion Uzuki, to use. Final Fantasy has been an obsession since childhood, and it is something I still talk about frequently as well. I think about the various installments, characters, and themes so very much, and am heavily inspired by it. I'd say Final Fantasy is my primary inspiration for creating stories. (Although Xenosaga has also kind of taken over in this regard recently a bit) Kingdom Hearts is similar, but to a lesser extent. Whilst Pokemon is my primary inspiration for drawing art. I obsess a lot more over my art nowadays due to trying to finalize designs of my fursona and various incarnations of me, as well as trying to create commissions in a timely fashion before they all pile up. It's kind of stressful, especially comparing myself to other artists, but it is rewarding and I doubt any other artist would know how to satisfy my very picky aesthetic sense.
  9. She floundered for a bit, her mind trying to process what kind of response was appropriate. But things moved too quickly in this world, and her mouth already replied with the disappointed acquiescing thing to avoid problems. "S-sorry... I'll stop now," She could've explained why, could've admitted that she was a horrible talker whose voice should never be heard, or even that it was more difficult to explain things with her voice. Yet she didn't. Because it was pointless. He wouldn't understand. Feeling so ridiculously awkward about something that should've been simple, she merely pointed up to the hole she had expanded and climbed up it without another word. It didn't take Anatase long to go through the tunnel. Most of it was smoothly paved out by the Flare she had shot up. She crawled up more effortlessly than normal, until she hit the soft surface soil. The Dog hesitated, hearing... some rather unpleasantly loud noises. It sounded like people shouting angrily, coupled with the thunderously loud vibrations of what seemed to be galloping hooves.
  10. Dragons just seem more masculine in general, so this is likely one of the main reasons. They're seen as tough, hulking badasses by a lot of cultures. Also, what others have said before me applies. They are just cardboard cutout stereotype characters for the most part, and females don't fit into their stereotypes. It is interesting to note though that Lauren Faust has a sketch on Deviantart of a female dragon that could've been implemented in the show. From what I understand, this design was created before Lauren really knew how "scary" and monstrous Hasbro would allow her to create non-ponies, so she went for a more graceful and beautiful design. Honestly, I would prefer if this direction was incorporated instead, as it is a much more unique depiction of dragons. They aren't usually seen in this light in media. Here's the design: I hope they decide to use this in the future though. There's always the possibility a dragon like this might show up.
  11. It's likely not going to happen. Hasbro's main target for this franchise is little girls and their executives seem to believe that little girls like shallow pink foofy dreck as most companies do. The only reason G4 is actually watchable by adults is because they allowed Lauren Faust free reign in the beginning and continue to extend that to the remaining team. Other than making them jam in an occasional toy advertisement, that is. That being said though, they may (very very unlikely) decide that an older male audience is lucrative from their experiences with the bronies and do it. I'd be more likely to watch if these dark themes were more mature, not just darkness for depression's sake. Maturity here is the key word. If it was badly written and "dark and edgy" because it's the cool thing to do, then I'd stop. Basically, I don't care about a little darkness, as long as it's well written. If it is, then said show will likely be even better than this generation due to being able to explore depths not possible at this time. I'd very much enjoy the product. MLP to me right now is just a simple pleasure I watch when bored, not anything thought-provoking. Also, the G4 fandom probably wouldn't be around anymore by that time. I imagine they want to milk this generation's success dry first. So it would probably be an entirely new fandom I'd take part in. I'm okay with that.
  12. Answering "magic" is really missing the point of the thread. That is a lazy explanation used when one can't be bothered to think. Although honestly, it's probably the canon one as I doubt the MLP staff actually thinks about the logistics of such things. That said, I believe the point of this thread is to speculate a fan explanation, not to kill conversation with an obvious answer. My personal theory is that they're not made of crystal, but that they just have a sparkly sheen similar to it. I don't really see anything on their bodies to indicate that they are crystalline. They don't look significantly more solid or jagged than normal ponies. They just look shiny. Coupled with the ease with which the Crystal Heart is able to turn normal ponies into crystal ponies and the fact that crystal ponies aren't necessarily shiny all the time lends credence to this theory in my opinion.
  13. Deciding it was easier for her to explain via writing, she continued to use the wand. Hopefully, he would not comment on this, and ask her to keep using her voice. After all, these questions were rather overwhelming, and she needed to take some time to think before she could answer them. Rather than sputter around like an idiot. "All gems have magic within them. But some gems have more magic in them than others. It takes special extraction methods to find the right gems. And... they also extract magic from lesser gems and infuse it into more magical ones like this one, then put it on a stick. So that we can cast spells," She paused for a moment to let her achy paw rest, but trying not to let him see her pain, before continuing. "Not everyone has one or can use it though. You need to be able to do the motions to make the magic happen, and that's not easy for everyone. It takes a steady paw."
  14. "Yes... this is mine," she responded as she put the bag's strap around herself and placed a few of the scrolls in it. Then she held up the strange wand prominently as she began to explain. "This is a Gem Wand. It's a... digging tool thing. But... I can also use it...." Anatase began to mime writing in the air with the wand, as its tip glowed and a magical aura emitted from it. The aura took letter forms in the air and finished her sentence. "...For this." She continued scribbling in the air as the words kept forming before them. "There's magic powers in this Fire Ruby, and it can also make a shield and explosions to make digging faster and easier. Watch." The Fire Ruby Wand's tip ignited with an absolutely brilliant crimson light as Anatase flicked it in a very precisely elaborate way. She pointed it in the direction of a tunnel hole that she was pretty sure would lead them to the surface, and a scarlet blast of magic came hurtling from the crystal. It went through the hole, expanding it much wider for Lunaris to fit through, until it hit some rock and debris came flying down upon them. Anatase reacted quickly by flicking the wand again, and a rosey bubble of light formed around her. The debris harmlessly bounced off of it.
  15. After some time of covering the evidence that they had been there, getting back to the tunnel they had fallen out of, and burrowing through a few other tunnels, she had finally made it into her own Gem Den. She sighed in relief as her own marking scent flooded through her nostrils, a scent she always found to be calming. This Den was smaller than the other one that her and Lunaris had been in, but was roughly as big as a small room. It even looked the part. There was very small pieces of furniture around the edges of the den, atop which there were several scrolls of parchment, a purselike bag embedded with jewels, and a few chests filled with some of her more prized crystals. The room was aglow with the light of various gems hanging from the ceilings, although this lighting was quite dim compared to the other Den. Anatase went towards the bag, digging her paw within it desperately as her face contorted with relief when she finally felt the shape of what she had been searching for. She gripped its handle, and pulled it out. It appeared to be some sort of strange wand, with a particularly radiant fire ruby carved into an odd symbol on its tip. The Ruby Dog appeared to be enchanted by it, gazing at it hypnotically and rubbing the ruby on her paw pads.
  16. "Come on!" The Ruby Dog hissed, having found an appropriate patch of dirt to escape through and already having made a sizable tunnel hole back towards the surface. Her paws were starting to ache even more, but she just needed to find her way back to her own tunnel. The one where she had left a trail of small gem fragments. It was probably above this tunnel, parallel to it. For a moment, she wondered why she had never stumbled upon it accidentally... but that was probably due to that strong repelling smell. Coupled with the fact that nothing as heavy as Lunaris had probably ever entered these tunnels before.
  17. Anatase had the feeling he'd probably say something like that. This Lunaris seemed like the type of character who just wouldn't leave well enough alone. "I really really don't think we should... this scent marking is really powerful. Somebody clearly doesn't want us here," Her tone was rather imploring, and she became more and more uncomfortable the more time they spent here. That scent was actively repelling her away from the treasure, only becoming more powerfully unpleasant as she got closer to it. He probably couldn't detect it due to not being a Ruby Dog. Dammit. Deciding to take on a more active role, she began searching the ground for a more sturdy way out, one that she could cover up easily and make it look as though they had never been here. The sooner she dug a way out, the quicker she could convince him to leave.
  18. I just call myself "bisexual" for short-hand. It's far simpler than explaining intricacies nobody cares about. However, I am pretty asexual towards real, live-action humans. I do not find them to be sexually attractive save a few exceptions, most of them females. And sometimes, I get in weird rare moods where I'm into that. My sexuality fluctuates constantly. Sometimes I'm in the mood for certain things. The closest thing to human that I have an attraction to is anime girls. (and males on occasion) However, I'll go for you if you've got a compatible personality with me. Hence why I call myself "bisexual." People understand that, and I don't have to confuse them with weird poorly defined jargon that they don't know about. To be honest though, whilst I do find written less realistic descriptions of certain activities to be attractive, the physical act of sex itself seems repulsive, not to mention troublesome and stressful. Even touching people is something I have trouble with. Physical intimacy is one of my weaknesses, as most of my interactions are with virtual space. So I am asexual to a degree. Very weird specific degrees.
  19. I just do it. That's really all it boils down to. My mind keeps complaining, making things so complicated for me. Saying I need to learn this, I need to learn that. I need to read all of these tutorials, blah blah. I can't do it, I'll never be good. I'm worried, what if I can't? And then I calmly bitchslap my head and I say: "Shaddup." I just ignore the thoughts and I sit down and make it happen. If I'm particularly unmotivated, I'll just tell myself that what I'm doing is for fun. No pressure. It's not practice to get better in the future. It's just a quick doodle for fun. I'll draw things I know I'm good at, or things I really want to draw, and let the motivation flow from there. It also helps not to do a drawing all at once. I work through parts of it, especially if it's something challenging that I don't really want to do. (But I must for the commission money/extra experience to learn and grow) I start off with a quick doodle sketch, and then fix it up later in bits and pieces. Of course, motivation comes in cycles and you can't be motivated all the time. My hand doesn't let me work on art all the time since it cramps up constantly due to me overdoing it a little. So I try to rest and let my creativity replenish every now and then. Just don't pressure yourself. All that matters is that something gets on that canvas, and that something gets done. Besides, if you really practice with digital art, it is loads easier and less time consuming than traditional art. It has more tools that let you do stuff automatically, or more quickly. You just have to learn them first. But just start off with the basics. Just draw. Everything else comes as you go along. You keep drawing, and you'll learn.
  20. Ach, damn! She flexed her pained arm as subtly as she could, still wincing slightly. It hit her in the funny bone... forget that, forget that. She didn't want these random strangers to notice her in pain. They might think it was a big deal. The arm pain would probably go away at some point anyway. Just ignore it. And ignore the fact that this guy was kind of rude. @@Ochre_Dust, "Just some... math homework?" She was somewhat baffled at his reaction, but was hoping he wasn't referring to her doodlings of strange creatures. The girl tried to see what page specifically he was looking at. Hopefully it was just a blank one. Right now, she wasn't really in the mood to talk to a stranger. Well, she wasn't ever. But now was a particularly no moment for th... Aww, great! Another one? @@Reaver, Rather delayedly, as her mind wasn't able to process... so many people all at once, she responded as well to the other person who had stuck their nose there, nervously eyeing that ball of hers. Huh. A face that she had seen on occasion. "Yeah, it's... f-fine... just uh. Going home...!" The girl stuck her hand out awkwardly at the man as she still kept her head turned in the direction of the female, groping at the air as a silent request for her papers back. Her longing to get out the doors of this place panged within her suddenly. Oh wait. That was her heart.
