Talk about your passions.

I always feel like every thread I ever make is a strange one. Probably because it is.

Do you ever feel like the thing that makes you special is confined to you and only you? As if even though you know everything about it and can talk about it for ages, and can help anyone else to learn about that thing?

But of course, since everyone has their own passions, and they may not necessarily intercept with your own, your glorious speech may fall on deaf ears. Plus, I feel like people have this innate sense that anyone who goes on and on about a thing is conceited and self-absorbed, even though they have their own things they'd love to go on and on about.

That's fair enough. Sure.

But here we are, with an open invitation to talk about why you love your favorite thing. Hey, you never know who might share your passions. I don't think people feel like opening up to other people is an acceptable thing to do. People just need an invitation and an outlet to do so. Sometimes that's all it takes.

So, what are your deepest passions? What are the things that you can do endlessly and never get bored? (Obviously, keep it SFW.)

Music is my greatest passion. I love listening to it and play an instrument. I also compose for the fandom too.

Video games are my everything. They are a window into another world and I believe they are the ultimate form of entertainment. They have storytelling, showmanship, music, interaction...there are few entertainment outlets that can't be translated into video game form one way or the other. How well they translate is dependent on the creator, of course.

Oh and I mean playing them. I have no interest in making games. A lot of non-gamers get it into their heads that if I love video games so much then I should try to make one but it doesn't work like that. I play video games for the experience, not to create the experience.

I love video games of all sorts. There isn't a genre that I won't play given the right mood. I do gravitate towards certain genres though. But that should be obvious.

Rarity :D I'm very passionate about her. I've grown to have a deep emotional attachment to her, enough so to where she's a big part of my life now - whether it's being a huge fan of her or Rarity herself, she has a permanent spot in my heart :D Helping build her fan club into a kingdom is also something I put a lot of work into :D

Then there's writing - it's something I've always been fairly good at, and I plan on making a career out of it someday, preferably in written journalism :D Summer's here, too, so it's fanfic season B)

Lastly, music - I'm a guitarist and a bassist, but the 4 string is my weapon of choice :D I played a gig once with a few friends on the bass, but it was only one concert when I was 15. I was the youngest in the group, though, and I didn't really look good on stage with them because I looked like your everyday 15 year old and these were seniors in high school with funny hair dye and shizz :derp: It was a nice experience, and I had the talent, but I was young and didn't fit the image.

I'm passionate about poetry, it's just the way words can be used to move you, make you cry, or change your mind its just simply amazing to me. I've written a few things, just little works, but I've never really met many who share that connection with words and symbolism.

.. or something. Sold. Totally sold. I have a huge respect for rap, despite not particularly being a fan of the background from which it originates, for how it works with words, wrapping them around their finger as if it were a plaything.

Cats are my one true passion.  I will devote my life to cats, just as I always have.  People think they like cats, but they don't understand what I feel.  It's like if they could talk, I could be their purrfect servant.

Weapons and modern military tactics. From smg's to high powered snipe rifles, if it was ever made, used, or thrown at an enemy I've probably contributed to a wiki article on it, or fired it at some range. I was in line to go to ranger school before my leave from the army, and had I gone I would have without a doubt tried to go SF as as well.

Airsoft is also another one of my huge passions, as I have run several teams, and played all sorts of game types and scale. From back yard games with springers to 300+ people per team MilSim with nothing but gbbr's and blank firing weapons. I have built several replicas that are worth upwards of $1000, and one or two worth even more than that. I have r-hoped, j-hoped, and m-nubbed more replicas than I can remember right now, and my current airsoft arsenal is worth close $7000 in replica's alone, before getting into my jpc's and chest rigs, and m56 gear. I have even worked in an airsoft hobby shop before, so needless to say it has played a large role in my life.

Drawing...I've always had a deep passion for art! I'm by no means a professional but I draw for the joy it brings me (and others, or so I've been told) I can get really "into" a project, it's almost like being swept away into another world...imagination land, if you will. I love designing characters and drawing both original and fan arts.

My other big passion would be animals. I'm very involved in animal rescue and activism and I've done everything from foster work to TNR (trap neuter return for feral cats) I attend every animal related fundraiser event I can and visit/help out at sanctuaries. My own "furkids" are the light of my life and inspire me every day.

I'm kind of all over the place, so I honestly cannot say there is one thing in my life that I am all over. The closest I get is music, since I feel like I can talk forever on production and sound design with anybody, yet somehow it still doesn't feel like I've entirely dedicated myself to it yet.

Animals. I love animals. I'm facinated by them. Even just ordinary dogs, they're amazing. The fact another animal can actually want your attention and friendship. It's just a wonderfully mindboggling thing. And then there's the more unusual animals, like tapirs. They have a built-in snorkle! And then there's reptiles. They're basically ready to go as soon as they hatch / are born! Just.. ahhh.. animals.

I don't totally have myself figured out yet lol.  I draw.  I write poetry and short stories.  I've composed music.  I've played music.  I cook.  I've played video games most of my life.  The things I could probably go on and on about are video games, H.P. Lovecraft, possibly Bach, and, currently, ponies. xD  I also love collectible card games, and I've played / collected quite a few.

Do something endlessly and never get bored?

:)

Imagination stuff, coming up with ideas and creating them.

Sadly I suck at the last part.

That's funny. I can't think of a single thing I'm passionate about.

Oh well, it's getting time to repeat my morning chant to Celestia 1000 times before I hit the hay. Can't forget to spruce up my alter either. I swear I saw a speck of dust on it earlier, but I thought it was just my imagination.

  • 6 years later...

I am very passionate about art. To me, every little thing is art. Drawing is art, music is art, writing is art, dancing is art. Your house is art, your bed is art, your laugh is art, the sandwich you made is art, the hole in your sock is art, the built up dust in the corner of your room is art! Every little thing is art:pinkie:
So passionate!
