An Autumn Tune

Kay Dreamer, relaxing under a tree and playing a little song for the sleepy autumn woods.

 

(How I wish we had an actual autumn here in Australia... I'll live somewhere with four seasons one day. I swear.)

( Also, if you lived in Texas you would experience all four seasons for sure... in a span of three months, or a week sometimes, followed by Summer for the remaining nine months )

I'm definitely used to the concept of 9 month long summers! It's not fair. My favourite weather is overcast and rainy weather, and I'm lucky to see about two months of it. Usually less. (Certainly less so far this year.)

Very lovely art work! It's extremely pretty to look at.

 

After I lived in Washington for 2 years I grew to despise the rain. Now I bask in the sunshine in the lovely state of Texas although, it can be pretty bipolar with its weather.

Absolutely lovely work here.  Just from the warm colors used and the pose Kay is given just sings of tranquility and serenity; I feel a bit more at peace just looking at this.  Though I still cannot wrap my mind on how these ponies play such instruments, whether it be woodwind or violin, it still looks good regardless.

 

I will say that living somewhere with a bit more variety in seasons can be a welcoming change as you watch the seasons roll by.  But no matter what the season, a nice rain or thunderstorm is simply relaxing and enjoyable to me for some reason.  It is a rather shame that you say you only get two months of that sort of weather to enjoy.

I have the opposite problem. Perth is perpetually sunny, and I'm aching to move somewhere in England where it just does nothing but rain. A lot of English people come to Australia to escape their weather as well, it's funny how it works both ways!

I happily headcanon that ponies have latent magic in their hooves with allows them precise manipulation of objects. Like telekenisis, but it only applies at a physical range. Though that begs the question of why they write with their mouthes. Tradition perhaps?

 

I like to think Kay could play a simple woodwind instrument through regular Unicorn telekinesis anyway; nothing too complex, but she could play one thing with her hooves and another with magic to add harmony. When playing only one instrument though, she prefers to hold it. It just feels more authentic.

Gorgeous. The soft colours you used blend very well along with Kay Dreamer's green coat. The colours also give off a warm, relaxing sensation. I'd love to see more art from you. c:

 

Also, I agree that there was an actual autumn in Australia. It doesn't help that autumn is my favourite season.

If you were to eyedropper the 'green' colours on her coat in this picture, they actually look like murky yellowish browns on their own. It's all the warmer orange around her which tricks the eye into thinking those colours are green. It's really quite amazing. Colour is my favourite element to play with in art.

 

I don't have much time for art at the moment, sadly, but having drawn this has made me want to throw more effort into doing complete pieces. Once I'm off prac, I'm hoping to draw a fair bit. =D

I'd love to see more once you get the time! The emotion that piece has evoked is quite impressive. It's not too big to be overwhelming; yet too small to be unnoticeable.

 

Saying that, I am certainly no art critic, but that is my thought.
