New My Little Pony?

Ever since season 4 came out I have been wondering if Hasbro will ever run out of ideas for the show. They have just announced 5 more years of the show will be taking place. That got me thinking, "What if the new seasons aren't very good, hence them not having anymore ideas for the Mane 6?" We dont want the G3 1/2 disaster again...

So, what if they made a new show with all new character's and such? What would you think? What would you like to see in it? I know it's a little early to be thinking about this, but what if it eventally happens? Am I asking too many questions? Are questions overated? What if instead of asking, I will demand? THERE WILL BE A NEW SHOW AND YOU WILL LIKE IT, PREPARE YOUR BODY!!!11!!

Well, I'd certainly prefer them doing an entirely new show, rather than draggin this one on and on forever until it becomes stale/jumps the shark.  But imo, the style of FIM is so good, I just couldn't really picture rebooting and changing the franchise again.  If they do a G5, I'd prefer it to be the same style, the same universe, just a new setting and a new time period with new characters.  Like, maybe a series taking place in the time of Starswirl the Bearded.  But in any case, FIM has lots of life left in it.  I mean, it's only had 4 seasons.  No good show has ever jumped the shark that early.  Look at the Simpsons.  Season 8 was the prime of its life.  It didn't start going downhill until the teens.  I forget exactly when I stopped watching.  It was gradual.  Probably around season 15 or so is when I quit watching altogether.  Now it's like, what, season 25?  So, my point is, 4 is not that many.

I would love to see a show that takes place in Equestria's past that follows other characters (perhaps the founders we saw during the hearths warming eve play?) and see them tackle all new challenges and adventures that the modern ponies would not have.

As for style, I would keep it in the g4 style, as you already have 12 million+ fans of it, and it would allow you to spend more time on the characters and not worrying about making sure your new animation style catches on.

But like what has been said earlier, FiM still has a lot of life left in it, I wouldn't expect a new series until after season 7 or 8.

This.

If we do get a new show, keep the same universe but with different characters. Would help retain a sense of familiarity between the old and the new and allow for whole new stories and ideas with a new mane cast (more than six?).

Yes, but the Simpsons is the Simpsons.

Then again, to jump the shark at this early on, now that I think about it, would be strange for a cartoon like this.

(Although, again, it's normal for the other MLP generations to go stale after the first season or so. Hey, that's a sign that we're going somewhere.)

I could imagine episodes that link to older episodes from FiM, say season 1 or 2. Like a run-in with Rainbow Dash, when she went to check on the rest of equestria in "It's about time!". An interesting idea, It would make me love the show further.

I will also be quoting this, as I am being lazy today and your post illustrates my view as well so you saved me a few minutes time.

For that you have my gratitude, a brohoof, and two more notifications (depending on your settings). Enjoy

I feel like MLP will have an easier time of appealing to people for awhile. Lets face it; the storyline and acting in a show like Breaking Bad is better than it is in MLP. MLP doesn't exactly have the bar set very high for itself, and it's more the animation style than the storyline that attracted people in the first place. I think they can go for a looooong time!

If they make a G5, it would be cool to see the CMC grown up :)

MLP has one advantage to it and that is that they use freelance rather than staff writers. If the series were in danger of jumping the shark (for reasons other than Hasbro trying to sell toys, *cough*cough*RainbowPower*cough*) then they could bring in another who might have a fresh take on the characters and situations.

I predict "My Little Pony Next Generation" The only characters still around would probably be the Princesses and maybe older CMC, unless Celestia and Luna have to space or something.

OR

They have a spin off with different characters as the stars of the show. A bit like Sonic Universe, but with My Little Pony.

I don't think I'd be able to deal with all of the characters being done on the show. I love them all so much, and I just know the ending would be bittersweet in some way- like, maybe they all turned into Alicorn princesses and became immortal (This is what i think they meant when they said Twilight will not outlive her friends), but now they have to bear that burden, and watch their sisters die, their parents, their brothers, and all of their other friends. And then still be okay to rule, to not let the turmoil stop them from doing their duty. Honestly, If someone gave me immortality, I wouldn't be sure whether to marry them or kill them, preferably with fire. I'd probably end up doing both.

But anyway, I'd rather have MLP still be a thing than it not be, I hope the new show will focus on the past of Equestria, if there is one.

How about a sort of "My Name is Earl" with an adult Diamond Tiara traveling across Equestria trying to undo all the harm her nasty ways had caused? The same plot could actually work for The Great and Powerful Trixie as well. Perhaps a team-up? They could send weekly letters of their progress back to Princess Twilight.
