gaming My Videogame Blog.

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I joined here relatively recently, but I've been running a videogame blog since April 9th(which is also around the time I checked out MLP:FiM, but that's beside the point). I figured, why not share something I've been working on with my new network of Pony friends? Feel free to share your thoughts, and I'm open to constructive criticism, as long as it's done in a civil manner. You can find my blog here: http://landofgaming.net

That's sounds pretty interesting, Tross.  I may take a look at it.

BTW, as a friendly reminder, I recommend you have your site in your signature b/c of this:

Advertising your own site is not permitted outside of your signature and the website field in your profile. Trying to make money off of our members in any way isn't cool, either, whether it involves trying to sell anything on MLP Forums, soliciting donations for any reason, or referring people to some shady rewards program. If you want to advertise or collect money here, please get in touch with Feld0 to seek permission.

Oh, no. I hadn't seen that. The purpose of my blog isn't to make money though. I'm not trying to sell anything. If the forum staff want to lock this thread though, I understand.

No problem.   I think it would be better as a signature, that way, where ever you go, you carry the site and members can see it.   Something similar to what i did, :D

He wasn't doing nothing against the rules.

He wasn't trying to make any money with his page. And he didn't talked about paying,so I supose that the blog is 100% free, and the actions made there doesn't make any profit for the owner.

As long as its services are free,it doesn't go against the rules

Posting the link to the site, showing the site on the first post/beginning post on thread is different.  I'm trying to point out that it would be easier to add it to his signature.   B/C if you think about it, would it be better to see this site on his signature, :).

The "money" part, we can all ignore that.

I think Thunder-Wing makes a good point, and I'll have to look into adding that to my sig(actually, I need a sig to begin with anyways). But, if posting my blog isn't against the rules, then I'm relieved. I assure you, nothing anyone does on my blog would cost them anything. I never really thought of it as a service, but yeah, it's free to browse, comment on, or even subscribe to. The purpose of this thread wasn't to advertise, but to just share something I've been doing lately, which is pretty much just a hobby(though I suppose you could argue that it's just a difference of semantics). Edit: Thanks for the compliment Big Boss.:)

I took a look over it looks interesting enough, I would recommend various design changes but since you're using a Wordpress CMS I can't really go into the neccessary detail as you'd need a decent level of coding knowledge.

What the other ponies say is right though it's not against the rules to make a thread for your site but you'll actually get a lot more interest from creating a custom signature with a hyperlink. It's a more dynamic way to promote it and it's more fun too.

As much as I'd love for my site to be the best it can be, I have absolutely zero coding knowledge. I googled how to do what I've done so far. If you have any suggestions for coding noobs, I'm willing to listen. Either way, thanks anyways for the response. As it stands, I may be stuck with the static theme I'm using right now. I can make minor tweaks, like changing the text color(I switched to the blue to make it more visible). I'll still have to look into the signature idea. Maybe when I have more spare time. Using Wordpress there really is no point to trying to hard code the site you'd have to learn 4 or 5 languages and that is not easy or quick not too mention using Wordpress actually makes it harder trying to hard code then if you'd started from scratch. You may as well stick with Wordpress customisation tutorials.

Sorry Tross, but according to our current guidelines on the issue of advertising, this thread would be considered a violation of this rule and will now be locked.  Though it is clear that you were not seeking any sort of financial support for your website from members, promoting one's website in threads and such is still deemed as advertising and is not permitted.  However, as it has been pointed out, you are more than free to add your website link to both your signature and on your profile.  Specifically speaking of signatures, this is also a far more effective way to share your website with other members, since it will follow you with every post you make here on the forums and may garner more attention as a result.

If you have any questions, please feel free to shoot me a PM and I would be more than happy to help in anyway I can.  Take care!
