What kind of piercings do you like/what do you think of piercings on the opposite sex? What kind of piercings do you like/what do you think of piercings on the same sex? (: I currently have no piercings, I had my ears pierced when I was two, but hated it, so they grew in. My wife and me did our eyebrows at the same time when we were still dating, apparently that was romantic(married 6 years, still dont get girls). I have nothing against piercings, no matter the sex.Heck, I have pierced people. But once i stretched them to a 14g, i ended up taking them out then they closed up. after staying open for over 16 years. i thought it was really weird. o 3o And i had my second holes pierced at one point... self-pierced. one got infected. >> Stupid on my part. I was allergic to the metal in the stud. I love certain piercings on certain people. I really want hip dermals and my nose pierced, but im pudgey and hip piercings wouldn't look right. I was thinking about it but I'm too scared of infection XD Plus it just seems like a hassle and I'd never remember to put them in. Even when I shower/sleep. I can't remember how long I've had these earrings, but they're about 18 carots and aren't the cheapy kinds that make my ears itch. So I guess they're good. I have my lower lip on the right done. And my tongue. I want my tummy done, and an industrial. I love piercings on the same and opposite sex. I think they give someone a lot of character. I like body modifications, currently I have a 10 gauge spike/tusk in my septum (those not into body mod, that is the spot that separates your nostrils, below the cartilage in the skin). and my ear lobes are stretched to 00 (which is 10 milimeters in diameter). I used to have my labret/middle lip pierced, but I had to take it out for the job I have now. Currently, I can hide my piercings at my job by putting flesh colored bandaids over my ears and put in a septum retainer. When I get another job, hopefully one that doesn't care about piercings, I would like to add industrial bars to both ears, and maybe a vertical labret or tongue piercing. Anypony else feel like they tend to get criticized or even ostracized by others simply because they embrace their chosen styles, such as saving piercings or the like? It doesn't happen often for things like this. I find it's usually even more trivial things, but It still happens on occasion and it makes me wonder why people can't just grow up and be a bit more open minded and accepting. It's always been a massive amount of respect in my culture if you're a dude and you've gotten a piercing. Other than that, I don't plan on it. In fact, when I am within my element, around the people I prefer to be around, I am not criticized or looked at weirdly for having stretched ears, or my septum pierced, or for long hair, clothes I wear, etc. Its just something I like. I have noticed a few things: The people who criticize or judge me for any reason (be it my piercings, tattoo, clothing, being barefoot, wearing glasses, having long hair, having blue eyes, or whatever else people want to judge me on), are not the people I want in my life anyway. They are also not the people who are bold enough to say anything to my face about any of it. The people who do make comments to me, are almost always positive or just inquisitive ("did that hurt?" kind of stuff). When you respond kindly to them, and let them know you are approachable, it reflects better on all modded people. Piercings... I believe they're called stretchers, right? Yes, it is called stretching, and it takes years of gradually increasing the size of the jewelry to get to that size. Cultures have been doing it for years. King tut had stretched ears, as did the Buddha, some Native American tribes, many African tribes, it is also believed by some cultures that stretching ears can be a symbol of wealth, spiritual enlightenment, status in the tribe/culture, and some even believe that by stretching the lobes one can increase their psychic abilities. Of course, some people simply think it looks cool. My reasons for stretching are mainly because I like it, though I do not overlook the cultural and spiritual significance of the act. Mine are only at 10mm, his are probably in the 2 inch range... I have no intentions of going that large, or probably any larger than I am now. One can see clearly through my lobes, I can effortlessly fit pencils and probably AA batteries through them, but to go any larger would just not be a fit for me personally. I don't understand the problem, though? How are his stretched ears affecting you? Obviously it is something he likes, and it fits his lifestyle as a musician. He is not requesting you also do something like this. I have no problem with guys who have short hair, even though i think it looks rather silly to shave ones hair. My problems only begin when they think I should also have short hair. I give them the freedom to wear their hair/ears/shoes/clothes/feet in whatever way pleases them, I would appreciate the same sentiment in return. Not in to piercings, but I know a friend with a reall nipple ring. X) (no joke) I have a friend who got both nipples and his tongue pierced in the same night (he was rather drunk, as the story goes). Still has them all, and said they didn't hurt incredibly bad, and healed nicely. Then there is my cousin, who got one pierced, and it hurt so badly he had a seizure and passed out.
