Newer Update! 9/1/14

So I finally made a Deviantart so I could share some of my drawings. I have a couple on there that I didn't post before so I hope its too your liking.

I'm always open to criticism!

Update: Im still drawing, just dont want to spam the forums. Im thinking of making a deviantart but I dont think Im ready for that yet.

I got myself a nice Wacom tablet (its huge btw) and I got inspired to draw. Its funny because I never would have considered becoming and artist at all and always considered myself a terrible artist. But recently I had the biggest urge to get good.

So this is from day 1 before I got my tablet

Then here are a couple I did a few days later. ( cant remember the order of when I made them)

Just a note I practice by copying other pictures online or following guides.

Then I got my Tablet

and here is my latest one that i've been practicing on.

Sorry for all the links. I've been doing a lot more then what I posted.

But I wanted to know if I have potential to become great artist one day?

Update. http://i.gyazo.com/10345abcfb00383007a21819c7cf6209.png

Something I drew without trying to copy another picture. I plan to redo it and use a reference to get the proportion right.

Really when it comes to art, it can depend on how much you practice and learning the basics. A tablet, or digital art, doesn't make anyone an insta-artist it takes learning like any medium. I would advise not to try and copy other artists pictures, and the reason is because if they made a mistake then you will make it as well and probably make it worse. I would study some real horse anatomy (or any real anatomy) and try starting with quick study sketches as opposed to fully finished drawings.  A lot of your drawings have leg issues where they are too skinny, or the joint is in the wrong place. That might also be due to the fact that it looks like you are trying to draw the finished picture without sketching things out first which can mess you up in the end. If digital art makes you more interested in improving your art then that is awesome, but improving your skills just takes working at them every day.

I appreciate the critical response. Im not expecting to become a good artist over night because I know its not possible. I still need to learn how to sketch because when I got on the tablet I never sketched any of my drawings (more of lack of knowledge on how to sketch)

Thank you again for taking the time to critique my work.

I`m horrible at drawing on my tablet

I'm still trying to get used to it as well. When I drew on paper I would use mostly my wrist to draw. Now on the tablet I seem to do super slow arm movements. Just takes time I guess  ;)

Thank you all for your kind words.  What I learned today is that I actually need to sketch and break my habit of "copying" other drawings.

So I tried to draw something original for once. I feel like I should have used a reference or something but this is what I drew from my memory I guess from what I learned copying the other pictures

Needs work I know. but I just wanted to share it with you all. I plan to redo so her proportions are more scaled to the show.

Well, you do better in like two weeks than I did after like several months back when I actually tried drawing.

Granted I didn't have a tablet, but still ;p.

Good job though, it does appear that you are improving, the differences are noticeable between your first day, to getting the tablet, to now. So keep up the progress!

i'm not sure how tablet art works as I live in the Stone Age  but the tablet stuff looks fantastic so far! Like those who have posted before me have said, there is a lot of improvement occurring in each picture :) I'm not sure if you're doing this already, but have you got a softer pencil for the sketches? The reason I ask is the initial drawing can be easier to rub out if you make mistakes, allowing you to go back and change something if you don't like it (I do this fairly often !), a darker shade is far harder to do this with.  Doing this will also allow you to rub out your guidelines and reduce their future visibility :)

Whilst references can be limiting in some respect, in others they are essential. After all, how can you comment on a literary character without reading the book first or draw a pony without having seen one? :) This is important for things like legs, looking at a variety of screen grabs will allow you to observe how the limbs bend and the proportion :) After a while it will become second nature and the references won't be needed, just like riding a bike  and removing the stabilisers!

I really liked the Spike sketch in particular by the way :D

Keep it up and good luck!

i would so love to give you better critique right now,but i am not on my tablet so i cant really show you what i mean.

it doesnt seem to me like you are doing any sketches before you finish your drawings.

in most art programs, you can simply open up a new layer and change the opacity of the old one.

you should always start with a circle(that you imagine as a ball shape, that is important!)

the circle will represent a skull at its most basic shape.

in general,it is important to imagine everything in basic shapes, like cylinders, balls etc.

that simply comes with practice.

BTW,copying is not a bad thing, not at all.

most great artists of our time did that at some point of their life!

however,be careful about HOW you go about copying,it is important that you try to think about which shapes you are actually drawing.

do not blindly copy line by line!

anyway, nice work and i can already. see some improvement!

hope these things are gonna help you improve further :)

sometimes it depends on what program you use with the tablet (i use both paint tool sai, and photoshop CC) id check those out they are nice and i can actually draw like on paper

"What are you trying to accomplish, putting yourselves in danger like that? Trying to see "justice" done? Is that really justice, though? Aren't you just doing this because you want a little spice in your boring lives? What's the difference between that and a criminal who gets his kicks by murdering people? You see what I'm getting at? There's still a lot of time left. Give it some thought."

If you can read this and have a problem with me...take it up with my lawyer

well you are improving, which is the key to anything. I think you have great potential. But I would say that copying other peoples art is a great way to learn the proportions. Then when you get real good you can start adding your own stuff. But long story short Yes you are going to be very good.

Thank you all so much for the feedback and advice.    It really makes me want to draw even more. I'm taking everything you guys say into consideration. I intend to start learning how to sketch because I honestly haven't been doing any sketching before I draw. Again thank you all so much for the kind words and advice.

Well I just drew my new avatar. I focused on the face mostly because I felt like drawing something easy.
