Yes, Obama care has made things slightly better if you're poor, but here in the UK I know that if I go into a hospital I'll get treated, no questions asked! 3. You only have to go the south to see racism alive and kicking 4.Rodney King ring any bells? 5. Too many school shootings to mention! I don't like playing devil's advocate when it comes to America, but 1. Many people take advantage of the welfare system. I have been utterly homeless due to external circumstances (foster care, which is another can of worms) and couldn't survive without food stamps. I cannot tell you how pissed off I was going to the food shelf, seeing people pull up in Hummers, Cadillac, and other shiny new vehicles when here I am on a bicycle, going 5 miles to the shelf and could only carry what I was able to back to my college because I could not afford a vehicle (let alone gas and insurance for it). That's the problem with the welfare system. 2. The Affordable Care Act is a landmark in a political sphere where really nothing gets done. It needs work, that's all I can say about it. Big Pharma, money grabbing insurance companies, and large employers in the lobbying sector of politics all complicate things for the ACA, they are the problem with "Obama" care. 3.Racism here is not near as bad as sexism in MANY other countries. Look up Female Genital Mutilation, Wife killing, and really anything from the Middle East and Africa. Racism is a big problem here, but it's small beans compared to what millions are suffering across the world due to extreme discrimination. Sadly, the culture that African Americans make for themselves have not helped, local communities voluntarily segregate, and it's very difficult for any non-white person to get a job that actually pays. It's a bigger culture problem and when the afflicted minority choose to stay afflicted, it only perpetuates the problem. 4. Still happens sadly. But please don't forget the daily rapes that go unreported out of fear and shame, the domestic violence victims, and the disabled children who are suddenly forgotten about as soon as they turn 18. 5. In a culture that puts violence on such a pedestal, would you expect any less? Guess I ain't playing devil's advocate really...what I really want to point out is that these are actually small problems that America faces. It's so interesting that people ignore the actual issues that matter, being so desensitized that cannot see what is in front of their faces, that's the most sickening thing I see with America. Suitaloo 743 July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 While I will say you're generalizing a bit much, I'm an American, and I don't agree with all of the views held by my country, especially the views the top %1 and the government have, but I do believe in the core freedoms of this country. Freedom of speech, religion, information, press, etc. I think we should have freedom to do whatever we want as long as it doesn't infringe on the freedoms of anyone else, so yes, that includes doing whatever drugs you want so long as it doesn't lead to someone else being forced to do them. It also means that people should allowed to be married no matter their sexuality because you can't lay claim to the word "marriage" (or any other word for that matter, but apparently if I try to say a certain word, it makes me racist, even if it had no racist intent behind it, but that's a different matter entirely), it's a word, get over it. Your statement regarding the ACA is inaccurate again. The funny thing is that if I pointed out where your factual error is it would make your point actually stronger. Go figure. If you live in one of the states that are not expanding the Medicaid and fall outside of that State's income range you get NOTHING. No health care at all. the biggest benefit is not the poor, but those a few brackets higher. It also benefits Families over individuals. So a poor woman with no kids living in Florida making no income ... screwed. That is why I said oversimplification man. 3&4. Yes. Racists exist everywhere. Point being? Sidon Aldermane 52 July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 To play the Devil's Advocate that's getting kind of hard to do when jobs are being exported to China. Hell, up here in Canada the government set up this foreign worker program (which I believe should be abolished) that's really making it hard to get a job over here. For example you have places like Tim Horten's and McDonald's that are taking advantage of it by hiring foreigners over locals because employers can pay them less. You make a fair point, but it's only half true. The jobs are still here but folks don't want them. They want the easy jobs, like as you say McDonalds. Though the reason that they're disappearing in the first place is because the current administration is giving benefits to foreigners funded by the citizens, drawing more people here to work cheap or even live off of other people. Don't get me wrong I'm completely fine with people coming to America, the more the merrier; but what our current president is telling them is that they can come here and be supported by the government, which means us. 2 College of Synergetics Ponysona: Sidon Aldermane OCs: Hearthfire, Camellia, Oryol
Guest90210 3,568 July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 Comparing 9/11 to the nuclear bombs is completely unfair. The nukes were set off during war time, in an attempt to end World War II, and the United States had given several warnings of their incoming attacks. 9/11 was an unprovoked, completely unexpected terrorist attack on home soil, which is something of that magnitude that had not happened since Pearl Harbor. Also, pretty much everything you listed is an obvious stereotype, rarely based off facts. You are pretending that every other country in the world isn't plagued with problems.

This is one of our flaws that we have aloud big businesses to do this. Im all for more immigrants (as long as they follow the priper channels) but i really think we need to stop allowing big companies to run things and force them to bring the work back home. Google and believe it or not wal mart have both started in thia direction. The g2 and g3 as well as future google phones are part of the america comes first. And wal mart is donating 250 billion dollars to companies who open and hire american workers to try and restart our diffrent industries that have fallen to history in the past 40 years. I thinkbif more companies start seeing the value in american workers though it might be a loss at first it could turn into massive gain.

Mlpfan185 1,763 July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 (edited) The Untied States, and why it's not as terrible as you think. A Little Background: I started an anti-American revolution while still in high-school. The details are not important, just suffice it to say that I was on the very opposite side of what I am going to point out. I grew up however, and my horizons expanded. I gathered more experience, and I can safely say that America is not as terrible as you think. I will be using the United States and America interchangeably. I am aware of the difference; however, I often will flip around the shorthand. Also, please excuse the rogue Wikipedia reference; I am not going to pay for scholarly documents for a forum post that will probably be ignored. 5. Welfare, and why you should care. The welfare system has been in, 'a state of crisis' since the early 1960s. Through the 1980s, the load on the welfare system nearly tripled. Today, the United States welfare system is supporting nearly triple that again. "I'm a lower middle class to upper class citizen, why should I care about this?" I'll tell you why, because one-third of Americans are one paycheck away from being homeless. This includes the upper-crust citizens. The welfare system isn't around to help the lazy be, well, lazy. The welfare system exist to aid those people who have lost their jobs due to market instability, crazy bosses, or rogue medical bill. The welfare system is not just a check that comes in the mail, but food in children's mouths, clothes on their back, and the ability to eat lunch while at school. "But, but, people just suck on the welfare tit for their entire life!" Some might, yes. Did you know that in the late 90s they reformed the welfare system? The new system included the ability to track many more aspects of those citizens in the welfare system. The subsequent changes actually made it quite difficult for people to slip into the welfare system, and just stay there. New laws included the five year cap. After five years, you don’t qualify for welfare. Unless you are very unlucky, you probably will live for five more years. Only 20% of those on welfare qualify for anything over 5 years, and out of that 20%, a very small percentage ever stays on welfare for life. Those lifers don’t have it easy either, as welfare is meant to be a bandaid, and not life support. The welfare system is great. Just because a few people abuse it, does not demonize the fact that our country cares about the wellbeing of our citizens. Adults need to eat, children need to eat, need a roof over their heads, and shoes on their feet. If you want a country without a proper welfare system, there are lots of third world countries available. http://www.nber.org/papers/w8983.pdf 4. The United States is not as unhealthy as you want to believe. “America is just so damned fat! It is full of fat people who are just waiting to die and being a huge burden on our crumbling healthcare system!” If you use the United States, ‘being fat’ excuse for criticizing the country, this is essentially what you are saying. Let’s take a look at the world obesity map provided by the BBC: Oh damn! That looks pretty bad, right? Well not really. Let's compare this with let's say, diabetes in the adult population. I mean, obesity and diabetes walk hand in hand. What's happening here!?!? America should be a shade of red that can't be found on the visible spectrum! Well, not really. You see, we have great medical care, and an awesome education system that teaches the future adults how to prevent certain health risk. Also, race does matter; depending on what genes you are born with, will determine your risk for diabetes, heart problems, ect. Do you know what America doesn't have? Rampant malnutrition: (Thanks Wikipedia) Those populations most devastated above, do not even have the option of begging. No one has food. No one. This isn't a case of being broke, and not being able to afford a microwave pot-pie. This is a case of food just simply not existing. 3. The United States education system is one of the best in the world. "Oh come on! Surely you can't defend the United States on this?! Really!?" Quick! Think of two countries that have a better, more well equipped, inclusive, education system than the United States! I am willing to bet Japan was on that list. Guess what? The United States has a better education system. "But they are trying to teach creationism and abstinence over protection in school! The bible belt is corrupting the American education system already full of failing students! Tenor is keeping bad teachers employed and no-child-left-behind is ensuring we pass even the laziest students!" Well, let's take a look at the academic rating list of the top higher education schools in the world: http://www.shanghairanking.com/ARWU2013.html Look who is all the way down there at #21. That's not a bad school! The University of Tokyo is a damned fine school, but the United States are just better. We practically own the list of top ten schools for higher education, in the whole world. There is a good chance that if you are not from the United States, that your doctors, engineers, and designers were all formally trained right here on American soil. If you are not referring the higher education, take a look at this literacy map: [Provided by Just Maps] And let's not even get into forced segregation of disabled students in places like... OH COMMON JAPAN. 2. America is full of right wing, bible thump'n, gun tot'n nut jobs! Alright, let's get the gun thing out of the road right now, as I am sure this is going to spark a lively debate for which I could care less about. The United States constitution guarantees everyone of age the right to own as many guns as they want. If you go by the news, you might believe that your odds of being shot in America are close to 1, but in reality, the odds are 1/>25,000; those odds drop significantly outside of Detroit. Your odds of dying are even lower. The constitution also has a few other nice parts. The separation of church and state is not just a by-law shoved in at the last minute. The founding fathers understood what kind of death-grip religion could have on the masses. The separation of church and state is a right as much as it is a law. Just like your right to practice whatever religion your little heart desires: You also have the right to a fair education/trial/DMV visit, without worrying about what god you need to pretend to worship. To undo this, would be to dismantle the constitution. Tax payers also have the right to vote, and those tax payers pay for the schools. If you live in the - quickly diminishing - population that strongly believes in a god, you are going to get creationism in your schools... along side evolution, because no matter how hard the religious try, you can't touch the constitution. 1. Blame the leaders and the government, I sure as hell do, but the people are just the people. Average Joes, idiots, college students, idealists, pragmatics, self-righteous fools, and humble nobodies, all clumping each other into categories and stereotypes, no different than what any other country's populace does. Rather than sweep em all under one generalization, it'd be wiser to just spread education and awareness as much as one can. first in response to your meme picture Japan deserved to get bombed they attacked us first so nuking them was to end the war but when 9/11 came we were at peace then came under attack you can't compare two events that aren't parallel now to answer your question I don't hate America but I can't say I love it the world would be a lot different without American's (it wouldn't be better though) its really opinion what you find as best country personally I find Russia the best country I would love to visit Moscow sometime in my life and if you hate America that's fine I'm not here to say you shouldn't its all opinion In response to this, I gotta say that Japan did not deserve being nuked. Thousands of non-combatants and combatants died in those explosions. While the nuking of Japan was under different circumstances from the bombing of 9/11, it would have been a clear violation of the geneva convention if it happened in modern times. I understand the arguments for it being necessary, and it makes more sense to say, "Japan had to to be nuked," but even that can be debated. Zygen 6,066 July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 Well, Honestly while America may have it's problems, every other country has it's problems too. No country is perfect. Plus not every American thinks or acts in that regard. Sure, there are bad eggs that you could use as a generalization for all Americans, but I know plenty of really nice and friendly and accepting people who are American. The same is true for every other country, I know some snobs and jerks who lived in other countries, and I also know some really nice people who live in other countries. But I'm not going to generalize the whole country based on some people. I don't like to generalize people really at all, whether it be based on race, Religion, Political beliefs, or Country of Origin, or the Country they live in currently, I just don't like to generalize people, and I actively try and fight against doing so. Because trust me yeah there are plenty of people who fit the stereotypes you may hear, but then there are others who are really great and awesome or talented and interesting people, and if you generalize people in any way, you might miss out on those. But i'm rambling, honestly while America has done some stupid crap, I still think people hate it a bit to much, other countries have plenty of their own problems. This is all my opinion after all, I know not everyone is going to agree with me. Feel free to disagree if you wish! Regardless, good day to all! 2 Thanks to Gone Airbourne for the awesome sig! My problem with the meme, is that it trivializes both 9/11 and the bombings of Japan, using humor of the poorest tastes. So not arguing just saying whilebi agree they did not deserve to be nuked there are 2 factors that do come into play. 1. We warned them and they pretty much tried to call our bluff. Now the war needed to end we were already millions of casualties in and it just needed to end. The bombs did that. Afterwards the u.s.a agreed apon the premisis of the Geneva convention making it a war crime. Also once we knew its true power we never wanted to use them again. Thats why during the korean war when macarthur lost his mind and tried to demand we use one on north korea he was dis honerably discharged. 2. You need to take into account the possible lives lost with a full invasion of japan. The emperor had instilled a rule into his people that if a foriegn threat made land fall they to were to fight to the death. How many of those non cambatants as well as russian and american troops would have died had we done things the ling way to try and occupy tokyo. Roughly 200,000 people died in the bombings how many would have died threw 3 more years of ground combat and carpet bombings. The justification for using them will forever be debated, but its knowledge we use bow to know the damage both instant andbling term, and that instills afearvthat keeps countries from using the truley world ending ones we have today. Again not debating just showing my views on it.

yeet 2,027 July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 And waste even more tax payer money? No thank you, if they are true monsters just kill them. I'd like to save my money thank you very much. Well you're 16, so right now it's not exactly your money is it, even if you have a job, it's not exactly taking much from you. And just because someone killed another person, doesn't make them a monster. What if that person was being bullied for years and finally broke, then killed all his bullies. He gets put on death row. He isn't an monster, just someone who finally snapped. And it would take some form of monster to say just kill them too. No offense. But just kill them. Yes they killed people, but does that mean they also deserve to die? Spending the rest of their lives in jail can rehabilitate them to some extent. Not that they are going to get out. long gone 8,929 July 30, 2014 Share July 30, 2014 (edited) Oh, and to the people who are agreeing with the OP... are you saying that you agree with generalizations? I'm from the north, almost nobody here thinks the way this guy is implying: The citizens of America also say that being Gay is the devil's work, and that they should be frowned upon. In fact, it's those who think that way, that being gay is wrong, who get frowned upon here. As an example, let's look at my own state, Massachusetts. In 2003, a federal court in the Massachusetts district ruled that the ban over same-sex couples in the constitution of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was unconstitutional, and in 2004, then-governor Mitt Romney passed legislation within the state to legally allow same-sex couples to marry. There have been attempts to reverse this legislation, including in the platform of one of our gubernatorial candidates, but every single time the attempts were shot down by Boston (and this candidate is getting next to no support from the people.) Nowadays, all six New England states legally recognize same-sex marriage and more and more states, particularly in the north, are starting to legally recognize same-sex marriage as well. We were the first, though, and this is something I take pride in, being bisexual myself. Edited July 30, 2014 by Daring

Do you think age is really a factor in an argument? It doesn't invalidate anything i just said. People who are monsters like John Wayne Gacy, Ted Bundy, B.T.K are just a few examples of monsters. They will never change and will have to be put in prison forever, why waste money on them when they can just be killed and save everyone a lot of time/money. Prison is not a place to put monsters but a place to punish some people who fucked up or try to rehabilitate them. It is NOT a place to put people like Dahmer or Manson. If you can honestly say that you want those types of people to be alive and well in prison and not dead then your insane. Your basically paying for people like them to be fed, clothed, the whole nine yards. Please, i beg you to go look up pictures of what they did and tell me they should be kept alive and not killed. Hell heres one place that has a bunch of discussion about these sick individuals (if you sort by top then be prepared for some really disturbing content: http://www.reddit.com/r/serialkillers/ oh and people escape all the time you know, hell druglords run operations through prison most of the time! Just a few of my favorite quotes on here... "The citizens of America also say that being Gay is the devil's work" (this one takes the cake though) http://fc09.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/146/b/5/bahahahahaaa__rainbow_dash_laugh_by_misteralex-d515muw.gif "the citizens of the United States think that the death penalty should be more enforced, even for minors." "They also think that the penny is fine to have, even though it costs more than a penny to make a penny." 2 of those are just completely wrong and asinine and the other is just an insane reason to say you "hate my country" Please...go back to school or do some research because a lot of what you posted has an opposing political party fighting in favor of it (see: abortion) Edited July 30, 2014 by little gamie

Page not found. And everyone deserves a chance. Call me insane, I don't care, being sane is too boring anyway to me. And we have that problem here, with prisoners yes, all the money, but also with people who can't be bothered to work. What do you think is worse, people in prison who are trying to get better, and work (with exceptions of ones like you mentioned) or people who just sit on there asses and do nothing to get money each week? There are of course people who actually need benefits.
