Also, I don't seen Lauren Faust's interest in suing you, or anything like that.

The copyright law is pretty messed up and Hasbro can use all the holes into that law to do something but I doubt they will waste their money or time. Taking your fiction down will cost some expensive lawyers and I doubt that Hasbro will even bother. I haven't heard of fictions getting removed.

You're not the first to include her as a character in a story and I highly doubt you'll be anywhere close to the last. Last I checked it wasn't illegal to include real life characters into fan made non profit stories.

I have never heard of a peice of written media being DMCA'd as hasbro's target auidance cannot read anyway, so it would not have a negative effect on them.

 

And yes, you can use Laurn Faust in your fanfic, as long is it is labeled as fiction there is no law that prevents you from writing a story about them, and I'm sure that as long as she is not escaping into midnight escapades with the stallions of ponyville even she would be ok with it.

Just refer to her by her first name. Like just call that character "Lauren"

 

There are plenty of other real and fictional Laurens out there so that would be fine.

From what I know, you can use whatever you want, copy-written or not so long as it is a non profit creation.

It is always a good idea to give credit to the owners in that case though.

Using real people, you could try to request permission, but so long as you don't have her do bad things in the story you should be just fine.
